Strong onshore winds keeps the sand and salt blowing! There is a free beach access to the right of the Pier though it's not handicapped accessible. It leads to a firm, flat and pretty beach though the amount of pizza and ice cream and beachwear spots around suggest that it's going to be a bit more Atlantic City than I would care for. We are there a few times a week to have watched the house band at the point. Mary our favorite cook, is simply AMAZING. Her signature is a happy face on the bun in ketchup. The food is really good and everything is made fresh to order. Beach, music, good people just enjoying their time. There is a blind young man who should try out for a singing contest. He's that good. Security is top notch, and I don't feel afraid, because they are that good. Try it, you won't regret it. We spend from am to pm, we bring hammocks to hang on the pier for the day. We have chairs for sun.

The Park is situated in an oceanfront maritime forest with a beautiful beach and stunning oceans views from its free fishing pier. The park offers boardwalks to easily reach the beach as well as outdoor showers to rinse off, there are plenty of bathrooms and changing facilities just a short walk from the beach. With a mile of beach it has six cabins available to rent just several hundred yards from the beach, for those that enjoy camping there are 278 campsites nestled under the towering trees, 138 of them have full-hookups (water, electricity & sewer), there are also 30 designated, seasonal tent sites. There are 2 hiking trails available in the park, both the Sculptured Oak and Yaupon trails lead to the beach. There are 2 gift shops to do all your souvenir shopping or pick up last minute supplies for camping or fishing. There are seven picnic shelters for group gatherings, reunions, etc. The Park has an incredible nature center with programs for kids of all ages. Programs and Guided Tours include fun, engaging and educational programs on a variety of topics and are offered year round to raise awareness about the natural resources of the park. Pets are not allowed on the beaches from 10am until 5pm (7 days a week) May 1 through Labor Day, Bikes are also not allowed on the beach during the same time periods as pets.

We had over 20 people, including a bunch of kids ranging from 2 to 11 years old. Forest & Spence did a great job navigating the waters, finding us a nice beach area, and a BUNCH of dolphins to see a few times over! Logistical stuff: Look for the big green sign! They have coolers, but bring your own ice They have a nice Bluetooth speaker system to connect to your phone There is a bathroom...but not the easiest to get to lol

It is very close to Murrells inlet and Myrtle Beach. Traffic can het really heavy at times but that is because it is such a beautiful place.
