One of the cleanest beaches I've been to, it's great for beach combing. The kid in you would rejoice if you love shells :) Important: There are no lifeguards on duty so please don't stay late after sunset. Although it can get extremely chilly and windy during cold seasons, it is a must-visit for people of all ages, especially families with kids. Free parking is limited and sometimes impossible to find during peak seasons so recommend going there early.

Golf carts are regularly used to access the beach (for people and beach equipment) and the parking rules have become increasingly restrictive. Payment by kiosk or a parking permit is mandatory for beach access parking, adding to the expense of staying here. Additionally, police are harassing golf cart users for not following state car rules for going two or three blocks to the beach. Ridiculous. Seriously considering going elsewhere next summer.

Though they must be there as we did see a few rescue trucks drive by while we were out playing on the water. The water was a little cold upon first touch but felt good after getting acclimated to it. I am from the jersey area and we have point pleasant beach & boardwalk, ashbury, wildwood, Seaside heights, and ofcourse Atlantic city... so might be I was expecting it more - so it was just okay for me. After 2 blocks, I was like where is the rest of the boardwalk? But then it was all Promenade. The Boardwalk starts at the 14th Avenue North pier and winds down through Plyler Park to the 2nd Avenue Pier. There are also several arcades located on the boardwalk, such as Family Kingdom Amusement Park. Myrtle Beach Boardwalk & Promenade is not your average boardwalk. Instead of just a straight wooden street meandering along the oceanfront, you'll find separate sections with their own character, just waiting to immerse you in coastal fun.

Located in a neighborhood with mobile homes, short houses and not too many tall condos, this beach access has a small parking area and a building with restrooms. On the beach, it is firm and hard packed. Quite a lot of shells and pretty rocks to keep the kids occupied, the shallow water extends a good bit into the surf. It's truly an Americana town with so much history dating as far back to the 1732 British settlement. We took a lovely stroll on the Riverwalk and soaked in the scenery. Saw many different types of boats coming thru on the water as the trailhead is right there. Boaters can even dock, do lunch or simply just walk around town. Few people were fishing, and many families were enjoying the fully fenced in playground. A local hot spot right on the edge of the riverwalk is a place called Chanti's Pizza, it's a popular local restaurant that caters to many homeowners, as well as great reviews by numerous visitors that come to town too! Would be a perfect place to dine if spending some time here and wanting to have lunch or dinner on the water. It's truly an iconic boardwalk trail (approximately 1.5-mile of a scenic pathway) along Waccamaw River that goes under the US-501 bridge and over some extremely old railroad tracks. Stunning views of the river and an abundance of Spanish moss draping the trees. Definitely a must do if you are near this community or while traveling on vacation just as we were.
