Although I was very seriously thinking on getting a new surf board, I held myself back and purchased a skim board for my granddaughter. Logan was great in assisting us in finding the right board. He was knowledgeable on the skim boards and sized up the right board to my granddaughters height and weight. I spent more than I wanted too , but getting a better skim board meant better success. She skim boarded on our last vacation together in the Outer Banks. She went out everyday and eventually learned how to skim board. My reasoning for getting her a good one. Back to Bert's , easy access to, plenty of parking, anything you want in surfing , skateboarding , swim wear, accessories and more are here. Great staff on hand and ready to engage in their surf adventures. Be sure to ask them . oh yes , I did buy a T- Shirt. Next time, I would also supplement with surfboard rental for $10/hour or $30 per day to practice in between lessons. Season ends labor day so if you're interested in lessons after this, would recommend calling. Recommend coming during the week as the beaches are less busy. The surf lesson hut is right at the edge of the beach and the parking lot near the hotel's water park area. Check in and signing waivers are at the surf shack. Open cubbies (not secure) to leave towels, sandals, small ice cooler etc behind the shack. Outdoor open shower for general use to rinse off afterwards located behind the shack on the way to the beach also. Parking: Booking instructions say that there is a white 2-story parking structure across the street (unknown cost) as I did free street parking.

All at a reasonable price. Me and my husband rented a skim board one day, which was $20 for 24hrs and a surf board the next, which was $25 for 24 hours. Inside the store you will find a variety of clothing, shoes, sandals, sunglasses, bags and my favorite....carver decks for all the long boarders out there. Private surf lessons are available, along with paddle board tours and lessons. Overall this a great place to check out whether you are a beginner or expert and looking for a good place to rent while on vacation. I jumped on their website, texted the number there and got our 11 year old signed up for a private lesson for the very next day. Sydney was a lovely and patient instructor. The owner was there, too, very polite and organized and I paid with Venmo right there on the beach. And my son who had never surfed before got up about 40 times in his 90 minute lesson. Beaming and joyful. I 100% recommend Carolina Surf. And I am so glad we found them!

It is a 4 mile stretch of beach w limited public access along main road. At the south end is a larger public access w 2 port John's, this access is close to the point good for fishing or seashell picking. It is a short ride to main Hwy that leads to Garden City or Myrtle Beach 30-45 mins depending on traffic if need more action. There are no sidewalks on road but most people are good about giving pedestrians room. There is a pier but only accessible if resident of the Pawley pier Village condos. Local police, two inns one w restaurant, some full time residents. Nice family location.
