I did my research ahead of time and knew they were what I was looking for. I wanted a sunrise kayak by experienced people who will not sell me gimmick and promises, just straight up the service I want and preferably a private tour. This last bit, of course, seemed impossible so I would have been willing to settle for non-private until I found their services! Yes, private. As small as 2 people in a tour. For us, it was only my husband and I. Shawn and Toni Rae are fantastic people. I booked ahead of time but was told since I wanted an open ocean kayak, the day could change based on tide conditions which is totally understandable for everyone's safety. Fortunately for us, the whole week was open since we were intending to catch the sunrise and there's nothing to do at 5am anyway. The day of, we drove over to their address, signed waivers, left our things for safe keeping at their house and headed to the beach. After getting our kayaks situated and safety instructions were given, including how to enter and exit the ocean safely, we were off. While we've done kayaking plenty of times on lakes, we've only ever done open ocean kayaking once before this time. Yes, it is more difficult and you do need to follow the instructions so you don't hurt yourself or flip your kayak. Shawn and Toni Rae were very helpful and clear with their instructions. He was also close by to make sure my husband and I got on and passed the waves and paddled safely away from the beach. We waited about 15 minutes before sunrise and he took a bunch of beautiful photos and sent them to us. No additional fees for the photos! After the photos, we headed back to shore and successfully made it back safely. The biggest take away from the experience though was that, it was truly exhilarating. We've both been kayaking on the Pacific ocean before by ourselves but I don't think we would have been brave enough to do it in the dark, before daylight. This experience was truly one of a kind and we had the best time!

We loved it so much we came back on Monday to do the private island tour! Keats was our guide both times and he made us feel so comfortable and if we got stuck he told us exactly how to get out so we didn't need him to come rescue us. One of the highlights of our Girl's Trip was definitely parasailing with Downwind Sails…read moreWatersports! We arrived at around 1:45pm hoping to be able to book for a 2pm slot and thankfully, they were super accommodating. Once we signed our waivers, we paid the parasailing fee ($98pp after tax) and the additional photo fee which was $30. After we dropped off all of our belongings at the Reservation Area, we were directed to the beach to grab our life vests. With it being Mid June, the sand was very hot but once we got to the water, we were fine. What we were unaware of was the banana boat that we had to take to get to the parasailing boat. It was definitely a pleasant surprise but a fun experience nonetheless. Once we arrived to the parasailing boat, the guys were extremely helpful and informative. They hooked us up to the harnesses and gave us a quick rundown of the rules. Parasailing was, by far, one of the most breathtaking and invigorating experiences I've ever had! I absolutely loved it and it was quite peaceful. Unfortunately, my friend did get queasy after a while so we had to cut our ride a bit short but the guys were very nice and made sure to give my friend some water until the other couple finished their ride. The rides lasted maybe 8-10 mins. If you're planning to visit Myrtle Beach or even live in the area, definitely check out Downwind Sails Watersports. There are height and weight restrictions so definitely check out their site for all the details but the staff were wonderful and the parasailing was amazing!

I want to give a shout-out to the staff of Island Adventure Watersports. We just finished a…read moretwo-hour jet ski tour and had a great time! The staff proved to be considerate, professional, and cordial even in the face of some customers who did not extend the same courtesy. One of the scheduled parties was running late. The staff called the party several times to give them grace and the opportunity to make the tour. That was above and beyond expectations and quite courteous, especially considering the policy outlined in the booking verification email. That party was able to participate because of that kindness. Once the tour got going, my spouse and I fell a bit behind. Yet, one staff member waited and led the way without complaint. She checked in with us and also recognized quickly when we later lost a hat (we were able to retrieve it, fortunately). She circled back to get us. At one point, a customer got stuck in some trees. The two staff members coordinated with one another to help the stuck individual and still attend to the rest of the group. The staff also had to contend with folks repeatedly ignoring safety protocol, yet kept their cool in the face of these circumstances. Our trip was great in spite of the hiccups caused by other parties, and the staff get full credit for making this tour as awesome as it was! Thank you for a memorable, fun, and unique experience! Thankfully 30 mins later they called me and asked if they could help I told them situation and was told we work on Sunday half a day to just deliver chairs and she told me if u need one go online before 12 and order it and we will have it out within the hour, so excited! Chair was here within the hour and my daughter was able to enjoy her trip even though still unable to get in water she got to go out on the beach thank u north strand particularly Mrs. Mcshane.
