Went on a Friday night for a date night with my husband. We are both novices at gun shooting so I was very nervous. Tyler who works at the gun range was soo awesome. He guided us through the whole process. He was extremely friendly and even catered to me because I was nervous. It was a great experience and we will be coming again. My husband also plans on taking a course there. read more

If I could give less stars I would. I just walked in as a newbie looking to get my first gun with basically no knowledge on them and this man behind the counter with grey hair and a grey goatee basically treated me like I was the dumbest person in the world. He was insulting in asking me things like " Do you realize what you just said?" and answering every question as if I was seriously putting him out. Then I go back to the range and they hand me a rule sheet and continued to ask me if I was sure I read it all. Totally a bad energy and a turn off all together. Never will I ever give this place my business because I do not respect establishments who don't understand the importance and value of customer service. If your a newbie like me or even someone looking to get advice or a new gun, absolutely go somewhere else. What a shame.... read more

BEWARE DONT COME HERE! if you're a novice shooter don't come here. These people are HORRIBLE. I've been to a lot a couple of gun ranges and this is by far the worst gun range I've ever been to. The staff are so rude and ignorant it's unbelievable! One man insulted my grandfather because he wanted to take the gun because he was done with it. He was a little short ass***e who wants to play cop! The butch behind the counter was even more rude. She wasn't rude to me idk if it was because I'm a woman but she was rude as hell to my grandfather and my husband. I'm serious don't come here go someplace where they actually treat u like another human being :-/. It's sad the first time I went here it was nice and I felt good shooting but yesterday Saturday it was disgusting. The lighting is horrible! If u go in summer time get ready to sweat ur a*s off its gross. The lady behind the counter wanted to charge my grandfather for bullets he didn't use. Let's just say these people have ruined our experience here. I will tell everyone to go to the middle river gun range. AGAIN BEWARE OF THIS HORRIBLE BUSINESS AND HORRIBLE PEOPLE read more

Continental is the area's premier destination for all of your firearm needs. They have an indoor range for handguns and allow you to rent guns to take on the range. They also sell a wide variety of weapons and accessories, and are an FFL. Their staff is courteous although usually a bit terse, perhaps because their dealing with a huge liability and need to let you know who's in charge. If you play by the rules you may earn their respect. read more

WHAT?! Why are the reviews so low??!! I didn't realize how good I had it at this place until I had to go to a competitor because Continental was closed. I normally visit this place weekly. I recommend this place for experienced shooters. There is not much hand-holding or coddling, which could explain the low reviews? I'm totally fine with that. I can handle a firearm, and I like my space. I like that it is not super crowded. It is hard to concentrate on precision handgun shooting when there is an inexperienced couple, wildly shooting a shotgun literally 1 foot away from me (that happened at the competitor, not at this range). It was downright scary. (Was there no supervision at this other gun range? What if they shot me--as they were struggling to figure out "what the safety button meant"??) The range is clean! When I went to a competitor, I realized that there were bullet shells everywhere on the floor. It was very dangerous, as people can slip and misfire the gun. Scary! This range, on the other hand, is extremely well-maintained. The minimal shells were swept neatly onto the concrete. I LOVE that there is constant supervision. Even though I classify myself as a semi-experienced shooter, I still feel much much better that there is an employee watching over, not only myself, but mostly for the new shooters around me who may do something dangerous while handling a firearm. I LOVE that there are lead wipes outside the range as well as lead cleaning solution and a nail scrub inside the bathroom. Leaving the building with lead residue on the fingers is no joke. I was semi-freaked out when I left the competitor with my fingers and nails black with lead residue. This is dangerous to get on clothes, on the car, and on anything I may touch, ESPECIALLY on something I may eat or drink right after leaving. Oh, and I really like the prices. They are considerably reasonable, and after trying about 3-4 indoor ranges, in the DC/MD/VA area, this place is the most affordable. Of course I don't care for buying ammo at the range in the first place (buy in bulk!). Try it out! (Actually don't, because I don't like crowded ranges and I prefer you stay where you are haha.) But in all seriousness, I wrote this long a** review because I think the owners deserve a positive review, thoughtfully written by someone who is a long-time shooter and is NOT just going to this range for a one-time Groupon deal, or just for the novelty of "going to a gun range." This place deserves more credit. read more

Great service today from Neil! Didnt try to force a sale, very knowledgeable and funny!

Gun range is good, well kept. The gentlemen at the sales counter are nice and knowledgeable, the women have all been miserable to deal with, like they are doing you a favor to wait on you. Prices are VERY high, not sure how they actually sell any guns. read more

Woman "salesperson"'was rude. If you are trying to learn about guns don't come here, or at least talk to one of the gentleman. She was very condescending and made me feel inferior for not inherently understanding the different types of shotguns and shot types. The trainer on the range was fine, provided basic knowledge and encouraged my shooting. Both women were actually quite rude. Now I understand why their review score is so low. Won't be going back, won't encourage others to go and I will buy elsewhere. read more

If I'm near the Timonium area, I'll be making some stops in Continental Arms. The place is legit. Two of my friends wanted to come here to celebrate their birthdays. So, we had a pretty big group: 9 men and 4 women. Now out of this group, there were some who never held a gun; some who never been to a gun range; and some who have had some extensive type of gun range experience. One thing that I will give Continental Arms' staff credit for is their willingness to go over the basic guidelines and handling instructions of the guns since some people in our crowd were inexperienced. Once our group was in the range area, the real fun began. It was good seeing everyone enjoying themselves and relieving some stress. Whenever we had issues, there was staff ready to assist. The biggest thing here is safety, especially when dealing with weaponry. Overall, a great experience at Continental Arms and we'll be looking to go here again, hopefully for another birthday celebration. read more

I've been to this range several times to shoot. I've also gone into the store area to look at some of their sale stock. Pretty much every time I go there, the employees act annoyed that I'm bothering them, arrogant if I ask a question, surly and as unhelpful as possible. And I've been shooting for 40+ years. I can't imagine what it would be like for someone with genuine questions. Not a very friendly or helpful place to go. On the up side, they do have a decent enough selection of rental pistols to try out, for only $5 each. The range fees seem reasonable. The range could be better lit, but overall it's functional. If they improved their customer service DRASTICALLY it would be an ok place to go. read more

Good indoor range, ammo prices are fair and the people are very knowledgeable. The husband/wife owners are the nicest people in the world!!!!!! I also believe they are expanding the facility. Stay away from the taller guy, late 30's, mid 40's with long curly hair. He's an A$$ and will find every excuse not to serve you and even belittle you if you're a novice. The older skinny guy can also use some customer service training. Rules of business Continental, "If you don't take care of your customers, someone else will." 3 stars instead of 5 due to employees that treat customers poorly. read more

Not a bad range. They have a large showroom and offer transfers. The range is packed on the weekends. For the most Employees are good but there are a few with attitudes. If you're looking for friendly staff to help you AVOID THIS PLACE. I was taken aback by the rude nature of the staff, their inability to assist me and their arrogant and nasty treatment of myself and my group. Not sure if it has to do with the current politics of this country but wow do the people who work here have a chip on their shoulders and a grudge against the world. I do not recommend. read more

Ive been a few time and love each fun experience here, the staff is friendly, attentive and very helpful :)

I've had the displeasure of purchasing two firearms as well as using the indoor range here several times. I absolutely hate it. The staff is less than courteous, and sometimes outright nasty. A gun shop should be a friendly atmosphere, so you can put clients at ease- very much not the case here. The range fees are reasonable, so I tacked on a second star. But, there is a $100 fee if you damage the cable system. Which is complete bull for several reasons. Hey, I realize a business has to make money, and I understand the need to maintain your facility. But, firstly, it doesn't cost $100 to string up a cable. Secondly, they have no way of knowing who shot the cable in the first place. Was it the guy in the lane next to me? I don't know and neither do you. And you can't ask your rangemaster (nor did they), because he doesn't know either. He was too busy shooting to be bothered to actually manage the range. The bottom line is, the people that work here are my biggest problem. You should never treat a customer as if they were inconveniencing you. That somehow the customer is distracting you by asking you do do your job. If people are looking at guns, chances are they will ask you to pull it out of the case so they can see it. Don't roll your eyes and sigh. But, that's what happens when you have a monopoly and you don't have to compete with other businesses. But personally, I feel I've given this business enough chances and I'm ready to cut ties until new management comes in. *end rant* read more

DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU VALUE YOUR SAFETY!!!! This place is the McDonald's of gun shop/ranges. Rude staff, don't know their ass from a Glock, and incredibly UNSAFE on the range. The last time I went to the range, there was a "thug" in the lane beside me trying to teach his girl how to shoot. Unfortunately, he didn't know how to shoot either. He was waving his handgun all over the place and shooting "gangsta" style. I walked off the range and informed the female range officer who was not paying attention, nor was she inside the range. Instead of kicking them out, she stood behind them and made sure they kept the gun pointed down range. NOT good enough for me, so I left. This time, which was the last, the range was fairly full, but not packed. When I checked in I asked for a lane away from other people because of the incident I had the last time I was there. Before I could get the words out of my mouth, she (the counter attendant) was already shaking her head, No. When I walk out to the range I see a guy who is obviously dating a woman with two young boys, approximately 9 and 12. While he is buttering up to her in one lane, the two boys are firing a handgun in the next lane over with no supervision whatsoever! I look at the range officer and he's texting on his phone. No way in hell am I shooting beside two unsupervised kids, so I go back to the counter and ask for a different lane. Again, she says "Sorry, you can sit out here and wait if you want." If the place was full, I would've waited. However, there were at least two other open lanes at that time. I told her forget it and left. I will NEVER go back to that DANGEROUS excuse for a gun shop/range. They're rude, surprisingly ignorant about firearms, overpriced, and most importantly, DANGEROUS in their practices. If you care for your friends and family, tell them to STAY AWAY! You only get two strikes when my safety is at risk! read more

Worst Customer Service, Ever! I went in to get information about a handgun purchase. They advertise "Educational and Instructional". Perfect place for someone that is new to handguns. WRONG!! I was treated like the stupidest person on the planet. They made me feel like a common criminal. There was a tall gray haired man that couldn't have been more condescending. He made me feel very uncomfortable, unwelcome, and a waste of his time. I went back to the range, same treatment. I was greeted by a "cool" kid with a 1911 on his belt. Total asshole. I left with a really bad feeling. Almost like i did something wrong. The only thing i did wrong, was walking into this place. Buyer beware!! Dont believe the 5 star ratings. Go elsewhere!! read more

People are rude and unhelpful. Paperwork took 90+ days to clear and they were rude when I called to check on the gun (which happened to be the most expensive gun in the store). At week 12 waiting they refused to give a refund with out charging me $300 in stocking fees. Owner tells me nothing she can do. While picking out a holster guy "expert" told me would not fit and didn't want to get my gun out of back stock so I could try it out, after forcing him to get my expensive gun it fit like a glove. A great team of know-it-alls and no customer service skills. BOOM read more

I like the range and reccomend it. The range fees are really reasonable and it's convenient to my location. It does get busy on weekends but I've never had to wait more than 15 minutes. I've never purchased ammo there, so I can't speak to that. It isn't a fancy range with digital controllers, etc. but for the price it's perfect. I don't like the store and I would not spend a dime in that side of the business. It is new and very nice, with lots of guns and merchandise, but the employees are completely worthless. I went in after an hour at the range because I needed a new nylon cleaning brush for my Glock 23. No lie, I sat at the counter staring at a guy behind the counter for 20 MINUTES waiting for him to acknowledge my existence while he talked shop with some guy who wasn't buying anything. I mean, come on. I stared him down and he definitely made eye contact with me, so he knew I needed help. Don't talk about the bears you've killed and your days as a cop while a customer is waiting to give you money. Finally, after being passed over by the older woman who works there for someone who came in after me, I stopped her and asked for help. She had no idea what I was looking for, seemed to care less about helping me and asked me if I had looked at the rack with cleaning brushes. I confirmed that I had but wanted to know if they sold one made by Glock since they were a Glock dealer. She said she wasn't familiar with "that kind of brush". Oy. I left and the guy behind the counter was still talking. I hate places like this. It's like fish stores - the employees expect you to have a PhD in their trade. Update - I have since started spending money on the store side to buy powder as it's the only place in the world that actually carries powder, which means I don't have to pay a $26 hazmat fee for an on-line order. As I've gotten to know the staff and they've started to recognize me, they seem to be more helpful. read more

I looked into buying a Safe at Continental Arms and the Lady who helped me was full of attitude. The first thing she asked before I was allowed in there secret Safe Showroom was, are you going to buy one. How do I know before I see what you have is what crossed my mind. She acted like she was doing me a favor by showing me there stock of gun safes. They are way over priced. The staff there needs a attitude check. I would rather drive 2 hours than deal with Continental Arms. read more

We went there on a Friday morning just before lunchtime to shop for my wife's first handgun. I did the research and looked around at all of the places I could find in the Fall '13 edition of MD Hunting Quarterly that I got from my neighbor, and Continental seemed to be the best. It was the only store we visited that day, but I couldn't imagine it getting much better than this place. The selection is huge, the place is easy to find, and they have a very large inventory. First of all, we walked in looking like a couple of novices (not too far from the truth). Within 1 minute, a guy walked up to us to help. We explained our situation, so he quickly gave us a rundown of the new and ridiculous new MD gun laws. He then recommended that we go to the range to try out a few guns. He also suggested the types of guns we should look at renting. We decided to look at the sales counter first to get a better idea of prices. Afterwards, I brought my .357 in from the car and then we went to the range and rented another handgun from the range. The two sales associates were nice, helpful, and not intimidating at all. You know the drill...sometimes you walk into a gun store and the employees treat you differently if you're not a gun expert. That was not the case at all with Continental. After going to the range, we encountered two more employees working the counter at the range. Again, they were extremely helpful. There was an adult woman and a younger kid and both were very very nice and very helpful and patient. By the way, we intentionally picked a weekday morning to visit because I'm sure they get busy on the weekends. I'm not sure if that contributed to our positive experience, but it was the best thing to do to avoid being the a-hole that's hogging up the sales counter on a busy weekend. As for the range experience, their lanes are a little tight for two people to share and my wife didn't like that the .22 rounds were deflecting off the separators between lanes and hitting her in the head. The lanes were kept well and in great shape. They also have a nice area between the gun rental counter and the range where you can watch shooters through the glass windows. If you're looking for a quick trip to the range for some fun or if this is your first time looking at firearms, I would definitely go to Continental. We ran out of time, so we did not make a purchase that day but when we are ready to purchase, I'm certain that we will go straight back to Continental. I might be able to find better prices elsewhere ( I have no proof to back that up), not sure, but their business is good so my philosophy is to patronize places that treat you good. One of the reviewers on yelp talks about an incident where the he brought in a loaded magazine and criticizes MD gun laws. He's right, the gun laws are messed up in MD, but Continental has several large signs on their front door explaining that loaded magazines are not permitted. The signs tell you exactly what to do before bringing your firearm and ammo into the building. All I can say to that guy is: read the sign. One more thing. The only thing I forgot to ask about was the area near the sales counter that looked like a large break room. They had a play area that looked like it was for kids. I'm not sure if this was so you could come to gun shop as a family and let one spouse take the kid(s) to this area while the other shopped for guns? I'm not sure that I would ever do that but I suppose it's an option. read more

Shooting at gun ranges is one of my best hobbies and so far I have visited many ranges in the East coast. I have been to the Continental Arms 3 times in the past 2 years, and I have seen nothing but an unfriendly, unprofessional and unwelcoming environment. To those who gave such a good comments and regards to such a horrible place; I must recommend you to visit at least two other ranges in Maryland such as Freestate Gun Range and On Target. I can positively confirm that any range in the East coast is way much better than continental. The staffs of continental are nothing but bunch of ignorant morons; they are rude, offensive and provocative. They have no manner and they have a poor customer service. Of course, I've noticed that some of the staffs were trying to act friendly or put a good face whenever they feel like, but when I compare them with almost any other range in the region I must admit that this place is horrible. During my three visits, I couldn't help but noticing that the staff were looking down at the clients and they spoke with some customers in an offensive, aggressive or rude manner. I cannot believe that a terrible place such as continental would have ever received such positive remarks. Probably first time shooting was an exciting event for some customers and it might have clouded their better judgment or maybe they have not seen a professional gun range yet, where customers are treated the way that they should be. Once again, I would suggest you to visit at least a couple more ranges before leaving a positive comment for a place which I think they do not deserve to get. read more

The facility is very well kept since they renovated... very welcoming! The staff are extremely disrespectful and demeaning. I went with a friend, and received terrible treatment in the few seconds of interaction I had with them. I've never been here, however, earning a store clerk's respect is not something I would be concerned with. Being spoken to tersely by a clerk is not acceptable to me. I have what they need, they have nothing I need. Indeed, I afford them all due respect from when I enter the door of the establishment to when I leave. I expect the same. In all fairness, I am giving them a YEA just as the previous gentleman did. I just wanted to make a point and hope others will not accept being treated poorly by store staff. Don't hesitate to tell a store owner that your treatment by staff is unacceptable. Don't accept disrespect just so you can shoot a gun. I have noticed a remarkable change in the attitude of staff at my local indoor range. I went back after a year of personal boycott for bad treatment by staff. Something must have gotten their attention and now everyone is treated with respect. What a welcome change! I've been back three times this week! Maybe it's new management. I'll have to ask. read more

Since July I have stopped by a couple of times and today I tried to call them for information on their next classes and membership they offer for their shooting range. Unfortunately, my experience each time has been very disappointing. They act as they don't need any new customers and when finally they sell you something they act as they preferred not to. Today, they hung up on me the first time I called, and when I called them back they said they were busy with number of customers and they couldn't understand why I wouldn't search on their web-site for my answer instead of taking them away from their customers. They proved for the third time that they have a very poor customer service. They try to portray that they have a sophisticated store in an urban area, but their sell reps are nothing but unsophisticated and uneducated individuals that get their fix by being around guns. On the contrary, if you go to Duffy's gun in Sparks, you will find a run down country gun store with a bunch of friendly and genuine sale reps with plenty of patience. read more

This was a first time experience for me. I have never been to a gun range before, and decided to go with some friends who have been shooting several times. When we first walked in to the range in the back we were immediately met with an attitude from all the ladies working. It felt very unwelcoming as soon as you enter the room. Everyone behind the counter was glaring. A older women with bad 80's hair asked us to fill out some paperwork and read the rules. I was having a conversation with my friend and she jumped into it barking out stuff. I was actually in shock she was inviting herself into our conversation, and doing so in a room full of other customers. She was very aggressive, and rude. Regardless we went on to shoot, even though I didn't want to give them a penny of my money at this point. I had driven a long way, and decided to shoot anyway. The range is nice, very cold, but it was a fun experience. We went back at the end to pay and a older blonde woman with short hair checked us out. She was the only one that smiled or acted friendly the entire time. Come to find out the rude older lady was actually the owner...no wonder the staff is so shitty they learned from her! All in all the experience of shooting and the range was nice. After doing a little research after the fact their prices are pretty high, and they have a number of bad reviews for the same customer service and attitude issues. I should have gone to another place that didn't make me feel so unwelcome. If you are looking to find a range look else where unless you like paying people to treat you like crap! Give your money to a business that actually wants you there. Because these people certainly don't value their customers!!!! Read the other reviews...they are all spot on with the same type of situations. The positive reviews I can only assume are given by friends, and employees trying to boost the rating because the staff is TERRIBLE! Trust me!! read more
