He's a nice kid but way out of his league. We hired him to finish paint stripping a nearly 100 year…read moreold white oak front door, frame, screen door and porch posts. We had done 95% of the job but got stuck in corners and creases where our lack of experience became an issue in getting the job done perfectly. He came out, quoted me a price, we agreed and he said he'd start. He came 2 weeks later. When he arrived he brought an uncle to help him. Long story short, they BUTCHERED my door, frame and posts. They didn't bother edging the porch posts/joists and I ended up having to repaint my entire porch-- which had been newly painted about a month prior to their arrival--because the wood stain was EVERYWHERE! The gouges on my door frame are atrocious and cannot be repaired by simple sanding as there'd be no frame left :/ The door that I hadn't wanted to damage looks worse than if I had just continued to work at the areas myself! Also, he found I had a rotten wooden porch post and agreed to replace it. He went off to Shell Lumber to buy the White Oak post to repair it. When he returned I commented that he'd bought the wrong wood but he gave me some story about it being simply a different cut method. When I finally got the receipt a week or so later, I was correct--he'd purchased Douglas fir :/ Then, part of the work I did hire him to do included creating the screen and surrounding wood frame for each individual square on my old wood screen door--about 10 total. I had purchased ~32 linear feet of white oak frame molding. Each square requires about 4'. I had miscalculated and knew I'd be short. He only managed to get 4 squares done with those 32 linear feet :/ Finally, he told me he'd give me a mailbox he'd built that he had laying around in his workshop to replace my old one. He came back said his wife had gifted it to someone but that he'd happily make me another one because he had extra materials. While his uncle butchered the actual project I'd paid HIM to do, he spent his time building the mailbox. He essentially spray painted my old mailbox, drew some design on it, attached it to some pieces of wood, screwed in some house numbers (in a style I don't even like when I had already ordered my own house numbers!) and added some corrugated metal planter boxes for succulents. I didn't like it but kept it to myself since he'd given it to me. I figured I'd simply remove it and replace it with one I like after he left. Ha! When the work was "done" he told me he'd email me the updated statement. I was shocked to see that it totaled more than DOUBLE what we'd agreed to. He charged me $300 for that mailbox (gift my ass!) plus a ton of other shop materials that I know were not used. I paid him what we'd originally agreed to and some of the material costs. We agreed that I'd pay him the rest when he came back to finish the molding work on the screen door when the screen molding was delivered. BS! It cost me another $1,500 to have someone repair his work. He's in over his head. Save yourself the time and trouble and find help elsewhere.

I always see signs for kitchen cabinets and decided to get off and check out the spot. I already came in thinking this was going to be like every other place I go over budget and not what I was looking for. The owner Norge was very knowledgeable about what I was looking for and for the budget I needed. We scheduled a meeting at my house for measurements and design outlook. I hired him on the spot. He told me it would take about two weeks to build my cabinets and he would call me the day before to let me know what time he was coming. I also needed to find a business that would help me with countertops. He advised me on someone he knows and went with them as well. Norge came with his helper Felipe right on time and was done within 3 hours of installation. I couldn't be happier with my kitchen. I highly recommend them if you live in the Kendall area.

I hired Eddy to paint my house based on good reviews. In January of this year I interviewed 3…read morepainting companies. I obtained bids from all 3. I ended up choosing Eddy's, even though the bid was the highest by a significant amount of money. I based my decision on the many positive reviews I read here, and also on Eddy's sales pitch that emphasized his company's expertise, high quality workmanship and attention to detail. When I showed Eddy my house, I told him that over the past several years we've had problems with water leaking into the walls of our house, which shows up as flaking interior paint and plaster. Each time that happened, we found cracks on the outside walls that had to be sealed, which we did. When I hired Eddy, I showed him the two areas that were currently leaking and causing inside damage, and I asked him to be sure to patch and seal the cracks outside in those areas. One of those areas was outside our living room and was located too high for us to really see or repair ourselves. Eddy assured me that his crew would do a very careful and thorough job patching and sealing all the cracks before painting. He told me that the larger cracks would be patched twice, because the material would shrink and require a second coat. When Eddy's crew started working in February, I made sure to point out to the foreman the area outside my living room where the leak was causing damage inside. I was very surprised when the crew started painting before many of the obvious cracks had even been patched the first time, especially in that area. I checked with them again about the cracks and other damaged areas to point them out. He assured me that all of them would be taken care of by the time they were done. I was also surprised that they were painting much of my house by spraying the walls without covering the windows with plastic. The foreman told me they were being very careful and would not get any paint on my windows. I went away for a week during the project and when I came back I was told everything was done. I found a number of details that had been missed, such as spattered paint on my screens, paint on my metal gates (white on the black paint), and wood trim around some windows which was not scraped and painted. I sent Eddy photos and they did come back to fix those. I then had my handyman clean my windows. He immediately discovered that all the windows were covered with a fine mist of paint. It would not wash off. It had to be carefully scraped with a razor blade. It was very tedious and time-consuming work and I was charged by the hour. I contacted Eddy and sent him photos of the paint on the windows after the dirt had been cleaned off. At first he tried to tell me that the paint must have been there from previous painting. I assured him that my windows had been cleaned many times since I last had my house painted in 2007, and there was no paint on them before the work he did. I gave him the choice of cleaning the paint himself or reimbursing me for my handyman to do it, and he chose the latter and sent me a check. I had my interior walls repaired in the two rooms where there had been water damage. I thought that we were done with this project, only to find the paint inside my living room flaking again in the same places as before. My husband climbed onto our tallest ladder and put his phone above his head to take photos of the "problem area." Sure enough, there are still cracks there that were not repaired or sealed. It even looks like the area was never entirely painted. I called Eddy and told him about the problem. He was very abrupt with me and said to send him the photos. I immediately sent him the photos and he did not respond by text message. My husband called Eddy the next day and I called him the day after that. We both left messages and he has not called us back. This is a warning to anyone considering hiring Eddy to paint their house. He does not stand behind his work. He is a persuasive salesman and convinces people to hire him for high quality workmanship at a high price, but he does not check on his crew as promised and does not stand behind their work. I paid a lot to have my house painted ($10,980) and that was supposed to include repairing cracks and sealing it. The exterior walls should not still be cracked and leaking less than 5 months later.
