In late November, 2016, I contracted Roger at "The Grove Handyman" on Angie's List to have a…read morebathroom wall repaired following a leak in the pipes. I was quoted a good price and the appointment was arranged. The property is a unit I was preparing to rent and I was out of town, so a friend let the workers in. They were instructed to call him so he could view the work before they left. The worker called me and said the work was done. He sent me a picture after he left and after he returned the keys. He took the bathroom hardware off the wall for the repair and failed to put it back on. I contacted Roger and he informed me that the pipe for the faucet was too short. I don't know why the worker would tell me "it's all done," when it obviously wasn't. Roger said he would have to send someone else out on another day and he would have to charge me a callout fee - to complete the work his staff failed to finish. As I had a tenant moving in the next week, I had no choice. On the second appointment, a different worker said "it's all done," but he is the one person in North America with a cell phone that doesn't take photos. Roger's tone via text message after both visits was not an example of excellent customer service. He did not offer any assurance that everything was as it should be or apologize that his staff failed to complete the work properly the first time. In April, 2017, my tenant contacted the property manager to inform him that the faucet had become completely detached from the wall and pipe. The property manager left a voicemail for Roger, but he never called back. I called the next day and my call went to voicemail as well. The greeting stated that Roger would be out of town from the following day. Unfortunately, before he went out of town, he never returned my or the property manager's call. We had to hire another contractor to fix the inadequate work done by the Grove Handyman staff. I emailed Roger and explained the situation and provided him with a copy of the charges incurred to fix the faucet again as well as a photo. Roger refused to compensate me because he thought the charge of $260 was too high and because he didn't see it himself. This entire situation has been completely unacceptable. The original job was not completed. I was charged additional fees to complete the job on a second visit. The work performed was not done correctly and only lasted 4 months. And I was not compensated or refunded for having to hire another company. I strongly advise against hiring "The Grove Handyman" for any work. The company is a typical South Florida contractor that does shoddy work, doesn't communicate properly and doesn't stand behind their work.

I had already received a quote from a national chain and really wanted to support another small business. During the initial consultation, I was chatting with the assistant and he confirmed that not only could they reface my kitchen cabinets... they would love to help me replace my antiquated carpet for updated vinyl flooring. The quote for cabinets AND new floors was basically the same amount that the national cabinet chain had quoted me for just the kitchen?? They were very accommodating with creating invoices that my HOA would greenlight, and met the requirements for soundproofing my second floor unit. The technicians kept updated on all processes from consultant to appointment. The owner met with me the day before to aussage my concerns about what I needed to move or not move , to accommodate the process . I didn't want to create any unnecessary movements or furniture displacement for my technician!! They checked in with me via text throughout each day and sent video at the end of each session to communicate on the progress! They finished my 2BR condo in less than 3 days! I am beyond happy with the results! My unit looks and feels so much bigger with my beautiful new floors. It is exactly what I was looking for and then SOME!!! The owner and my technician followed up on the next day , to make sure I was happy!!! Soooooo happy! Please recommend or hire these guys for your next improvement project~ the BEST!

It started out with Brian calling me on February 18th at 9 am making an appointment to come see the job and give me an onsite estimate. I took the rest of the day off and waited for them, but they never came. At the very end of the day Brian texted me to say that he couldn't get there. This cost me half a days loss of income. At around 5:30 pm same day he texted again, saying he would do the job for $500 without seeing the job personally, because he had enough information from the initial pictures I provided. However ,the next day he asked me to compose a video with detailed spoken instruction of what I wanted done. More time wasted and extremely aggravating because I then had to edit the video for over an hour just to be able to send it via text message because apparently the video was too long to be able to send. After all this he retracted his $500 estimate He instructed me to go ahead and do it with someone else. It should be noted that Brian was polite and well spoken but regrettably this interaction wasted my time and fell far short of my expectations. My belief is that it had more to do with the owner Augustin, who was disengaged in this communication and seemed to change his mind several times. Very unfortunate and Not the way to get my business. When we called JR he came over right away to give us an estimate. JR was professional, friendly, and gave us the best quote out of all the businesses that we contacted. The longest part of the process was getting the City's permit approval. This does not reflect on JR and his team, as the city ALWAYS takes a long time to turn around permits. Once we had the permit, JR contacted me to begin work. His team works fast, are very professional and they wasted no time in making our driveway a reality. The work took a little over 4 days including the astroturf that we wanted laid down in between the slabs. We are very satisfied with JR's team and are already finalizing future projects for him to work on. I know how hard it is to get good contractors to actually come out and give an estimate and follow through the work. JR is the real deal. We were really happy with the results. I would not recommend EZ General Contractor based on our experience…read more We scheduled a consultation with EZ General Contractor five days in advance and provided details about the project we were looking to have completed. My husband took the morning off work specifically to be home for the scheduled consultation. EZ General Contractor canceled the appointment 20 minutes after the scheduled arrival time, explaining that the project was "too small" for them to take on. We completely understand that contractors need to take on projects that make business sense for them. What is difficult to understand is why this could not have been determined during the five days between scheduling and the appointment, particularly since we provided as many project details in advance as was allowed through their automated platform. The lack of communication and professionalism was equally disappointing. Our phone conversations ended abruptly with them hanging up on us rather than with even a basic professional courtesy. We will obviously be using another contractor for this project. More importantly, based on this experience with EZ General Contractor's communication, scheduling, and professionalism, we would not consider them for future projects, including larger ones.
