Al is a delightful man. Sincerely, he is a sweetheart and is ready to go above and beyond (like picking up extra materials for the job). If you'd like to make a friend, Al is your man... if you want *quality* work done in your home I would think twice about using Al's service. I was not going to write a review, however I owe it to everyone to be honest about our experience so you all can make an informed decision. We hired Al for a pretty extensive job, remodling our newly bought home. At first we walked away from his offer because of the many bad reviews we read. He then offered a very affordable price range. We accepted. He has since finished the job and here are the top 12 issues we have with the job (many more problems not stated). 1. Many nails were left in the floor after he put te vinyl down. The floors and floorboards were put down (poor quality), but what uspset me and mh roomate is that she got a nail stuck in her foot because Al's team was so negligent. 2. The closet racks have begun to fall down as we put clothes on them. He took down the racks to paint, but did not reinforce them. This is VERY dangerous. 3. The electical work was very bad. We have lights that dont work properly. 4. Al's team did not install what they said they would. We still had our bathroom sink and lights not installed. The kitchen formica was not installed. So much was left undone. 5. The paint job was HORRIBLE. Oh my goodness. I was shocked at the paint that was everywhere (on our sliding glass door, on our new floors, on counters)... everywhere! They even painted over our new switches. Not only that, but the actual paint job was mindblowing. His team does not have the ability to paint in a straight line. Every time we asked for touch up, it became worse. 6. Sawdust was everywhere because they cut the floorboards in the rooms. Its been over a week and we are still breathing the sawdust. My roomate wakes up every morning witth a swollen face from allergies from sawdust (after sweeping 4x a day, mopping 2x a day, its still there). 7. We were shocked at how dirty the house was. Not just the sawdust, which they attempted to wipe down... but the team used our restrooms and we would find pee on the seats and their personal materials in our house. 8. They broke our blinds. 9. Uneven baseboards. I am in shock. Just look at the pictures. 10. Lack of caulking. We have uneven steps and really shoddy work all around. Caulking could have helped him cover the weaknesses, but he only partially did that when we complained. 11. He promised 2 weeks, he took almost double the time. Every day after 2 weeks he said he would be finished. To his credit, when we mentioned that my roommate was bleeding and then again when the shelves fell, he did offer to come fix things and was very apologetic. The quality of work was so poor that we do not want him to come back. Again, Al is the sweetest man you will meet, but the work is not quality. If you are needing something done at the most economical level and you dont mind poor quality, he may be for you. Also, if you have small projects, he may be for you. I truly believe in investing in small businesses. He is a sweet man and won us over, but the quality is not good. read more

Al's Handyman didn't impress me. I was asked when I was available and I gave two time frames. He didn't come based on either time. Instead he called me later in the day and I ended up canceling an appointment to accommodate him and get an estimate. I had given a photo by email of the most important item to be fixed. Then a phone consult and finally he needed to come out. I never got an estimate for that job. He was able to give me a quote on something that was not previously discussed. I was told it would be $50.00 to hang each of the 35 inch vertical blinds. I thought that was okay but really needed to take care of the other issue first. I got the feeling that he didn't like dogs so I tried to keep my fur babies away. Many Yelpers have written good reviews for this Handyman. I wish I could give 0 starts. Al is just a polite scam artist. He will send some random guys that have no experience and does a sloppy job. But they are all very nice. Then halfway through the job once you've paid a certain amount they stop coming and start with the excuses- they're sick, inbetween jobs, ect....At some point the job I contracted them for was so far past the date they said they'd finish that I told Al just refund me back what I paid for already that they can't finish and I would get someone else to finish the job. Al agreed to refund me the money owed for the unfinished job, then I never heard from him again. If you still choose to use his services my advise is don't pay until the job is completely done. read more

Wel I did not want to get to this point! At the beginning I was happy to find some body who looks profecíonal and can do the job of redoing my bathroom I They came and redo my bathroom and "looks good " but just that only look Because after the 1st use of my new toilet this one overflow. I got rainfall water downstairs. I contact right away Al for it and he say he will come to fix the problem( probably wasn't well mounted on the rinwax, his words) After several ( countless ) calls and excuses it's been almost 4 weeks and still no showing up to reinstall properly my toilet. We give him a lot of chances and we just get justifications about been busy and keep promising coming to fix it next day ( we call every day)the las past week we just got voice mail or no answer to our texts. Very sad! We was exited about our bathroom and even talked about giving more jobs around the house ! well this not will happen. My sister and her family just moved into her home and needed to hang a large (and very heavy) antique mirror, a few paintings, and mount a flat screen TV. Initially, we were going to go the TAKL route but it was tough to price with a single provider on the app. Having had previous success with Yelp, we decided to use that to search for handyman services. We saw several with mixed reviews then saw Al's with 5-stars. I was hesitant at first given there were only six reviews at the time. However, after reading each one, and realizing that Al was a hands-on business owner, we decided it wouldn't hurt to get a quote. Al responded to the request very quickly and showed up on time. After I showed him all the work that needed to be done, I asked whether he happened to know how to program a garage door keypad. Without any hesitation, he read the instructions on the keypad, flipped the garage light assembly where the switch to program was and helped me figure it out. Turns out the battery on the keypad just needed to be replaced. He even left me a little screw driver so I could open the battery compartment once I got the 9v battery I needed. He did all this "gratis"! While I had originally planned to get more quotes, this small act of kindness demonstrated Al's commitment to customer service, which is unfortunately rare to find these days. Additionally, I told Al that we neither had the tools nor supplies needed to do all the hanging and installation work and he said he would take care of getting them. As such, we decided to move forward and scheduled him for the work. As expected, Al showed up on time yesterday, got the job done quickly and well. He accepts payment via Zelle which was a big plus. My sister was quite pleased with his work and has asked Al for another quote do screen replacement for her back patio. So here's the short version of my review. If you need work done around your house, call Al -- you will definitely be happy you did. Glad we found you Al! I have waited a few weeks to give Al the opportunity to fix his work before I posted a negative review. I reached out to Al to get a quote for my son's home. He is a nurse and works night in ICU and Emergency so during the day he sleeps so i offered to help find a handyman for an issue they had with the bathroom. I spoke to Al he seemed professional and gave my son his information. He was hired to do a bathroom that Included the installation of a toilet. The work was subed out but he assured them that he would be responsible for the work. Fast forward the toilet install was done incorrectly and water is just pouring out to the first floor when you flush. My daughter in law reached out to him and he said he would come by and fix the problem. Before that she confirmed that the problem was indeed the toilet install with a plumber that Al suggested they do Incase it was a pipe issue. Well here we r weeks out from installation Al has been paid in full and he will not answer their calls or text messages. Because I recommend him I reached out to him and asked that he would do the right thing and come and check his employees or subs work. After making one appointment after another with them and no show he has gone silent. No response no contact nothing. But he has kept the money that was paid for the job. I chose Al because of the good reviews but now I'm not sure these are even true. Please feel free to reach out to me if you need any further back up on our contacts with Al. Despite all the other positive reviews, It is important for any prospective clients to steer away from this Handyman as he cannot be trusted to complete a job to satisfaction. I fell for his positive reviews, hopefully you won't. I hired Al and his crew to do a job that included repairing some drywall, painting, and constructing a closet. It was a multi-day job and started off really well, because of this I agreed to pay in installments every time they visited and did some work. As the job neared completion, they rushed the final portion of the job. They left several things unpainted, some holes in the drywall, and the closet door un able to be properly opened. Al promised to return to finish the job and correct the mistakes but never did. While I guess this should be common sense, If you do end up hiring this handyman, purchase all your own materials and do not pay a dime until you are completely satisfied with ALL the work. Do not let yourself be deceived nor feel any pity for any sob-story he might give to get you to fork over some cash early. read more
