There's something about being there that makes you feel so connected to the earth that you just want to feel as close to nature as possible. The café has very limited options, but everything they offer is ridiculously delicious. I had the banana tacos, which were a mix of coleslaw and tomato salad. I know I'm not making them sound very tasty, but I guarantee you, they were freaking delicious! The ladies at the front were also very welcoming and answered all of our questions. They never made us feel weird for being first-timers or for some of the questions we had. I also had a massage with Derek, who was such a nice man to talk to. I told him about my problem areas and asked him to focus on those spots. It was honestly one of the best massages I've ever had. Being able to dip into the hot springs afterward was the perfect finishing touch. Then when we got unpacked, the place was not very clean in the areas you would expect: The base of the toilet looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a while; they tried to staple down the vinyl flooring laid up against the bath cabinet; there was black all around the sink stopper; no blinds where there should have been for privacy; bottom 6-7 slats missing in the living area; no lamps for lighting to read in the living room; dishes and eating utensils did not look very clean; and some funky towel/curtain at the toilet which faces out towards the walkway for the other two cabins. And there was only one plugin heater so we were having to move it around from room to room when the temp dropped. They need at least two. I would not rent any cabin from this site after this experience. I give it only 2 stars because of the location. The owner needs to get their act together if they're going to be in the hospitality business

Our room had a full sized bed and also a bunk bed. The amount of space was just enough for the 2 of us. The bathroom is a little small, specifically the shower but since we're small people it was fine. Check-in is contactless--they send you info on how to check in and where to park the day before your arrival. I really appreciated how fast they responded to requests and concerns. I texted them twice about a light bulb and also about the door code not working and someone was there to fix both issues within a few minutes. Also, the breakfast spread in the morning was really good! They had a coffee machine, fruit, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, oatmeal, granola bars. In addition there was an also a different burrito or sandwich plus pastry for us to grab each morning.

Situated near Donner Lake, the Inn is perfectly situated to be close to the famous Donner Historic Park (just a few minutes up the freeway) and also the beautiful Donner Lake beach area. There is also a great little pub across the street from the beach area, too. Downtown Truckee is also just a few minutes down the freeway. And, although it wasn't snow season yet, it's also close by the Donner Ski area. The property as some parking spots that are convenient to the lodging rooms. The family run lodge has no-frills style breakfast take-away items - such as boiled eggs, yogurt, granola bars, and also some featured made items (scones and breakfast burritos), but be aware it's available from around 7:30a (and our hikes had us leaving earlier than that). The rooms are "self-check" style, so be prepared to read your follow up communications from the managers w/your check in process. The rooms are simple but clean - featuring a controlled temperature stovepipe style fire place and window seat overlooking the forest behind the lodge. There is also a small stream on one side of the property. All-in-all a great spot that's convenient and less crowded and less-pricey than most spots in the Truckee area and the rooms are quaint and rustic but nice, too.

Lucky for us we hit the jack pot and definitely realized after driving by all the other resorts, cabins, and inns that we ended up in the best one. Of all the other places you could tell these cabins had the best views and though close to each other still felt secluded. You have a full view of the meadow and mountains, not just the highway or another property across the road; we even saw a bunch of deer including a big buck! The whole property is also well past a golf corse so you really are tucked away. They are very dog friendly with lots of poop bags and trash cans as well a bag of treats at check in, they even will walk your dog if asked! They have free breakfast and unlike a many places it's not buffet style, they seat you and serve it up just like a typical restaurant breakfast but I wouldn't have minded a bit more variety. We can't wait to come back and stay in another cabin next time, maybe deeper in fall or even after a bit of snow; you can tell this property is breath taking any time of year.

Both Rachel and Ashliegh were absolutely amazing! They both listened and made all of my requests come true. Some had to be compromised, but it didn't change much of my vision. Our bartender Jasper was absolutely amazing and so kind. The lights, the vibe, the music, all of the vendors... they all worked together like a well oiled machine and made every wedding planning moment up to the wedding day absolutely perfect. I'm a chill bride and solely trusted the vendors and Ashliegh on their skills and talent. I'd be lying if I wasn't nervous at times, but said yes when they said "trust us". They absolutely delivered! The cake was exactly how I'd envisioned it and was so delicious, the food was a huge hit for my husband and I and our guests (I wanted to takr home the meatballs and freeze them), the DJ was perfection, the florals were immaculate (more than what i had expected), and the photographer Rachelle was sooo kind and made our little awkward selves so comfortable. Pulling up, we met with Jim the owner who was super nice and got us set up in our cabin, lucky number 5. It was sooooo cute. The grounds are kept very nice and there is a beautiful overlook in the back. The cabins have little patios and common areas to hangout with the other guests. They have an office that has free movies to borrow, board games, Menus for the restaurants and more. Walking into our cabin we were totally in awe. It was so homey and we were instantly comfortable. The cabin is decorated really well and has everything you can possibly need including a kitchen, utensils, plates and cups, hot coffee, a microwave, a fridge, and more. Our bed was really comfortable, the temperature was easily changed, we didn't notice any outside noise and we just had an absolutely amazing time. I can't wait to come back.
