My wife and I have had one of our cars in here four times. It was a circus every time. I didn't personally wanna take it here, but my wife likes to help family owned businesses so we gave them many times to prove themselfs. One time we need a battery swapped out it's pretty hard to get to under the fender when we came to pick it up the fender and the will well were not put back together correctly, so I had to tell the young man at the front desk that the whole unit is loose and he copped an attitude and put it back in his shop and had his guys fix it. Another time we were here our car kept stalling. I told them that it seemed like it was the security system that needed to be rebooted, but they had to try every other option and kept the car for four days charging us almost $1000 to reboot the security system and give us a new key pad. Another time I asked him if they could check the brakes on the vehicle, cause they were acting strange and would offer them to pay for a new brake job when I get there the young man at the desk tells me that they have to charge us to look at it. Who charges to look at a vehicle's brake pads to see if they're good or not. I guess this place does and the only place that I could find that does. At this point I realized all they care about is the money they don't give a crap about the customers. When I found out, they want to charge me this astronomical price just to look at the brake pads and give me an estimate. I told them that I would come get the keys and take it somewhere else and the young man at the counter said good take it somewhere else .real professional. Well, from the poor reviews on here, I would assume Gene was not working today. My 21 year old son had a safety flap issue on his diesel gas tank. He was nearly out of gas, so went to closest repair shop he could find in Conroe. We went in knowing what the simple issue was yet were charged $120 for "diagnostics". Son called my wife to discuss options, so she called the shop to discuss. The boys at Conroe's Choice were chomping at the bit to give the estimate to replace this $12 part for some stupid price plus the hours of labor. She said no, could we just get the latch free so that he could get gas and take it to our normal mechanics. She then asked if she could borrow the tool needed to dislodge the part so he could fuel up. Dude says no, those are my tools and we charge to use them. She calls our mechanic, and he says just get the car to him if at all possible, and the tool needed to remove the piece can be purchased for $10 buck at AutoZone across the street. She tells Conroe's Choice boys she, and her husband will be by to pick it up. Guy says okay, I will put the keys in it and you can pick up at AutoZone, and I really don't care if you are a repeat customer or not, LITERALLY said those words to my wife as I got into the car. Well now I am PO'd that one I have to go do this after work, and two this guy is a complete A-Hole to my wife and son. We get the part at AutoZone and I go to remove the flap and get the car out of there. I can't find the keys in the car so I am walking over to the 3 Conroe Choice boys standing around staring at me coming from the car, not working on the cars in their garage, mind you. My wife convinces me to be nice, and dude yells at me across the lot and says, Keys are in gas compartment! They stare at me as I walk back, restraining myself from laying into these jerkovs, and lo and behold, they had already popped the latch off!!! THIS was why they were such D bags, because they were ready to take my son to the cleaners for this simple fix. They had already, probably accidentally, solved the minor problem and since my wife questioned the charges and estimate they were out of a payday!!! Unless you are mechanically savvy, do not go there, but I am sure those of you who are mechanically inclined already know this. Let's see how the owner, or Gene feels about this review, and his guy telling customers who had already paid their bill they do not give a crap about retaining customers. Sorry about the rant, but mechanics who screw over kids and women are the scum of the earth and deserve to be exposed. read more

What i have learned with all the many used trucks I've owned and repair shops I have tried on for size is that aside from the variables and common problems any busines has (staffing and location) that there is alot on dishonest shop owners. And when your honest you stay busy Noone can be right all time time about complex repairs but Gene is honest and he has always gone out of his way to squeeze me in if I'm pressed for time or short on money he will work it out wher me I can make payments interest free. Unfortunately he has no control over part cost and he has bill to pay to keep his shop open and to employ his staff to handle his work load after my experience with other shops and being a business owner myself. I know his prices are fair and he cant work for free. Gene may have more work than he can handle sometimes because he is honest and i think for those people that dont have a business there is alot if expense that goes into making a repair shop convenient to people. Location, taxes, utlities, payroll, ie. And everybody wants a deal i get it but the man cant work for free. He has always told me upfront what my cost was gon a be and approximately how long it would and ive always walked away GOOD. its hard to make everyone happy. Especially when you are busy and its hard to find good help these days. All im saying if you want an honest shop you have to be willing to wait cause more than likely they will be busy. If you want a great price and you need it quick more than likely you will spend more money fixing it again because it wasnt right the first time. I think his sign is saying you know upfront what your cost is gonna be shop around and choose somewhere else if you can get better. There is always someone who isnt gonna understand because they are selfish and have nothing to comparenthere experience to. Paid 1K to have them lift the engine to ck it out & then when we picked up the clutch was messed up but we had already paid. It took them 3 wks to say it was ready & it's still messed up. Also, although not much but about $10 in change from the cab was stolen & when we advised Glenn he said it must of happened when they parked outside as they didn't lock it. That was it, we didn't make a big deal about it because it was only $10. We will never bring another vehichle to Conroe Choice Automotive. read more

Took my car in to get an oil leak fixed and whatever was causing the check engine light to come on. I asked how much it would cost then they asked me what my budget was just so happens it cost exactly what my budget was which seemed off to me. Then when I got the car back the check engine light was off but by the time I got home it was back on again. There's just a weird feel in the lobby, signs basically telling you to f@$% off and discourage you from asking questions. read more

IF YOU HAVE NEVER PAID ATTENTION TO A REVIEW BEFORE PAY ATTENTION TO THIS ONE! I had to bring my car back 4 times and These people scammed me out of $1250 and never fixed my car. I brought my car in to fix the a/c and told them to fix whatever would fix the car. They fixed the a/c hose and 3 days later a/c was broken again, they then replaced a cheap sprayer valve for free and said that it would fix the issue for sure, and took responsibility. Another 3 days goes by BROKEN AGAIN. So I bring it back and they refused to honor the Warranty I was promised, and told me now I need a new $550 radiator. I made him promised it would fix the car and that if it didn't they would fix it for free. Sure enough 2 days later BROKEN AGAIN. They take no responsibility don't honor their warranty, and tell me that they want $1300 or something insane like that to replace the evaporator system. Me and my dad went up there to confront them and they refused to give any refund or fix the car. I have filed a claim with the FTC and BBB hopefully these mechanics get punished! ANY THING THEY REPLY TO THIS REVIEW DO NOT BELIVE! I have the owner on camera admitting to telling me he would honor the Warrenty and fix the car for free! Being from Vegas my sister didn't know where to take her Rav4 and the apartment mgr recommended this place after visiting the Toyota dealership. They even dropped her off while her car was getting fixed. And the price was a third of what the dealership quoted and the dealership even said she needed to get other stuff fixed. 1k+ is crazy! Had a motor in need of being replaced, went to another shop 1st and was given a price of 9K+ to replace my motor. That shop had the truck for 2 days but have yet to look at the motor. I was told they'd get it right in. That didn't happen. When I told them I'll take it to another shop they charged me for a engine diagnosis the but no report or no diagnose for engine problem. Called Gene at Conroe's Choice Automotive in Conroe, TX. and then went to talk directly with him at Conroe's Choice Automotive in Conroe, TX. I explained I had the truck at another shop and decided to replace the motor, as my motor had a lot of miles on it. I purchased the motor and had it shipped directly to his shop, and he could replace the motor with the re-manufactured motor. He said he could and quoted me a price that was reasonable, he also replaced a radiator with a larger cooling system. Total price was $4000.00 less than Milstead's quote even with the cost of the motor and radiator. The work was completed and 2 days later, the truck is running like a top and cooling system is not gone over the normal operating temperature for that engine. So the truck was done at the date stated and was not released until they made sure it was running right and no codes were showing. Happy so far, Thanks to Gene and mechanics. read more

This shop is reasonably-priced and conveniently located, but be careful. When Gene is the manager on duty, I get a fair deal and typically a free diagnostic. He's honest, knowledgeable, a good communicator, and always gives me a fair deal. When Gene is not there, all bets are off. Twice I've been over-charged, or unnecessarily charged, and the quality of service drops drastically when he's not around. The only reason I've given 3 stars instead of 1 is because, when I called and told Gene about these two instances, he refunded the money without hesitation. If you aren't dealing exclusively with Gene, I recommend going elsewhere. read more

They have fair prices and do great work. Their Ford Desiel mechanic is very good. I have brought my truck to them several times (unfortunately) and everytime they solve the problem the first time, the work is done in the time frame promised, and the price is fair. My Ford truck is gone but now I have been bringing my T/A here. Same great service and price. Gene really knows his stuff. These folks have consistently performed well for us. Recently, after having an oil pan replaced by a local dealer, we were advised that the front end had to be lowered in order to remove and replace the oil pan. When we departed the dealership, we immediately noticed that the vehicle was pulling dramatically to the right. In talking to the dealer, we were given the usual and expected run around..." in spec, should pull slightly, not as a result of what they did, probably hit something....". We were already miffed at the dealer because of the delays, antifreeze and power steering fluids not being refilled along with a few other incidentals. This is a local dealer with high dollar labor rates and horrible service as far as we're concerned. We were not interested in more issues and more useless dialog even for items covered under warranty. We went to Conroe's Choice, as we get our inspections there, and they immediately told us what the problem was and how it occurred. We made an appointment and waited as the alignment was performed. End result was perfect, absolutely perfect and priced well below what we had expected as there were more than a few minor adjustments required. While waiting, I was able to speak with other customers and all had the same high praises. Further, I noticed a number of vehicles from surrounding dealerships; some with stickers and some with dealer plates. Found out that this is a normal occurrence. Don't expect a WIFI lounge with gourmet food and flavored coffees. What you can expect is honesty, fair prices and reliable consistent service by well qualified real people. Mr Gene and his crew did a fantastic job of diagnosing and repairing an issue with my 2010 F350. While they may not advertise specifically as a diesel repair shop, I wouldn't take my truck anywhere else. I am quite mechanically inclined, but I am relatively ignorant when it comes to the Powerstroke engines. I had a couple of ideas as to what was wrong, and could have very easily been sold on the more expensive of the two. Instead, these guys did a thorough diagnostic and repaired the issue at a significantly lower cost than I had anticipated. Bear in mind, this is a very busy shop, so it may take some time for them to complete the work. Just be patient...the honesty and good work is well worth the wait. read more

More importantly, they are honest as when there has been any minor error they have brought it to my attention and rectified it immediately without question, protest, or charge.
