It's not very often you find a good reliable place to have your car serviced. I was concerned with me living in Denver and not being familiar with the various auto places in Bozeman. I surfed the web and found Bozeman Community Auto. It had great reviews. I had no choice but to try them. My daughter goes to Montana State in Bozeman and has my Jeep Wrangler. My daughter has had a couple of issues with her car. They fixed my daughter's car at a great price. Their technicians were very knowledgeable, explained exactly what the problem was and what it would take to fix it. Having worked on my Jeep Wrangler before, replacing the cam and rocker arms, I was very familiar with the types of issues that are common on the Jeep. Their assessment was right on! I highly recommend Bozeman Community Auto. Because of their popularity, they are busy. It will take a week or more to get your vehicle in. It's well worth the wait.

I thought I was doing my due diligence to take a used car to a mechanic for an inspection (which cost me over $200), but lesson learned to not by from third hand car dealers and that inspections don't really mean you won't end up with a lemon. I waited 2 weeks to get on their schedule, then had my car towed to their shop. I took them about a week and a half to fix my car and while it was there I asked them to perform an oil change. They didn't mention how much this service would be, nor did they ever check in with me about the repair to give me an estimate on the bill as the repair was in progress. The final bill was $1700 for the repair and $250 for the oil change! Let me repeat that as it is NOT a typo... $250 for an OIL CHANGE! My car takes 4 quarts of oil and and oil filter the size of a coke can. I've never paid more than $90 for an oil change for that Kia anywhere in town. When I confronted my contact "Travis" about this he justified the cost by trying to tell me that "It's not as easy at just draining the old oil out and putting the new oil in". Actually Travis, it is. "Also, we put in a new air filter and did an inspection" The car didn't need an air filter and I didn't ask for one. Also, I received no inspection report either written or verbal. Also, not asked for. Overall, they did the work, but they were not very transparent about their pricing and not communicative at all. Would not recommend.
