It was easy to schedule an appointment with flexible hours (very convenient for those who are working). Dr Krupa prescribed a treatment plan along with massage therapy. I felt relief right after the first session. I continued with the treatment plan for a few months and now can proudly say that my back is "fixed". I am pain free. The nurses are really kind but I have had a lot of problems with the doctors and reception. They are constantly rescheduling my appointments, sometimes the same day. They have no patience or understanding for when I need to reschedule. Almost every time I go I see a different doctor. Only had the same one for two out of my 8 appointments. The other 6 appointments were 6 different doctors. This inconsistency has caused several problems with ordering and refilling the weight loss meds I'm supposed to take. Which brings me to my final issue. The staff do not listen when I say I want a different medicine despite giving several reasons for asking for a change and there being plenty of other choices for me to try. They give no good reason for refusing the changes other than let's try a higher dose.

The appointment was for an office procedure that takes a few minutes to set up and maybe five minutes to administer. They REFUSED TO TREAT ME WITH A MEDICALLY NECESSARY TREATMENT until I paid them that $200!!! In case you are curious, here are their cancellation fees (if you have to cancel with less than 72 hours notice start looking for a new provider or show up with a not insignificant amount of cash available): $200 for procedure (even if it takes less than 10 minutes) $100 for an Initial Evaluation $50 for a follow-up appointment While I waited for my last appointment there, I could clearly hear the patient in the next room sharing very personal details and they weren't talking loudly because our rooms were only separated by a hollow door and there was loud banging grunting and yelling from the floor above which houses a day program for adults with significant developmental challenges. The shots I get in my lumbar area from Dr. Pearl are relatively painless...a testament to her experience. On my last visit, I noticed a sign that said they take Discover, MC, Visa and AMEX. I gave the receptionist my AMEX and was told that they don't take it. I pointed to the sign and she apologized and said she was aware of it. I didn't want to point out that maybe they should take it down.

I was in serious pain and was seen on the same day I made the call, that in itself is amazing. Upon arrival, the staff was professional and very concerned about my condition. They listened closely as I described my ailment and told me everything that they were doing. When Dr. Blake came in I was very nervous and she recognized my heighten state. She took her time examining me and throughout the process she remained very calm and explained what she was doing. She gave me her diagnosis along with a follow-up treatment plan. The staff then proceeded to take care of all the follow-up appointments needed, from booking my MRI to calling my PCP to get prior approval. That has never happened to me with any other Doctor's office. Usually I'm the one making all the calls. I wish I could give Boston Pain Specialist a perfect 10 but 5 is the highest on Yelp. I totally recommend them if you are looking for caring and professional people.

Dr Hummel diagnosed me with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome to the right side of my neck, my right shoulder, arm and hand. Dr Hummel has been working with me with pain management and I am so glad I was referred to see Dr Hummel. I was in a lot of pain, Dr Hummel has helped me manage my pain. He introduced me to a spinal cord stimulator, after the trial I wanted to keep the trial stimulator because it helped me by lowering the amount of pain I had. There is no cure for Complex Regional Pain Syndrome...I know I can count on Dr Hummel and his NP Ashley to help me manage my pain.

Depending on your physical bodily pain need, be it inflicted by surgeries (8 in total), accidents, work related, or in my case by all the above in addition having sports injuries (constant daily pounding that body building & power lifting will cause to your back, spine and joints). If that's not enough I was born with, cerebral palsy, a severely degenerative discs, osteoarthritis, herniated discs, severe lower back muscle strain and lower lumbar disc herniation and lastly sciatica Biltmore practitioners did and are doing their best to help. Let me also say that due my walking gate being abnormal, the hardware in my lumbar region lower back and spine makes it difficult due to my walk or gate while in motion.Because of this I have at times extreme pain while in motion. I was in a wheelchair for some time and was told I may not walk again or have to depend on devices to assist me. In addition to all the above I also suffer from muscle atrophy in my lower legs that makes it challenging to walk or stand for any length of time coupled by fatigue and sudden loss of strength in my legs when the pain spikes. All that being said the doctors at Biltmore & Rhode Island Neurosurgical Institute together got me out of the chair and walking, while bringing my pain to a comfortable level. I was referred to Biltmore Medical by my primary care doctor and a close friends who saw an add by Biltmore saying they will properly manage my pain thereby improving my quality of life on every level and will listen! Needless to say after seeing that I made an appointment and the road to great care and after a full detailed examination and in depth conversation with the doctors they prescribed proper medication after trying so many different med combinations including, epidural injections, p/t, aquatic theropy, surgery and stretching with ice and heat I'm now on the road to successfully managing my pain. These doctors listened to me, I wasn't judged or labeled they simply wanted to help me get better, allowing me to workout again, take long walks, hold my girlfriends hand walking along side her of my own fruition and not in a wheelchair. They helped me to now consider volunteering and getting back to working a few hours a week right now. That's huge, I couldn't imagine a year ago getting to this point. The staff at Biltmore and my doctors Joseph, Diane & Bryant including my neurosurgeons Prakesh Sampath at the Rhode Island Neurosurgical Institute made this possible.
