I had an appointment scheduled for today, May 9th and no one showed up. Since my appointment was on a Saturday, the main phone line was closed and no one picked up. In the two emails and two texts I received from them with appointment details there was no after hours line or way to contact them at all. Please find below my original review. I am updating from 1 to 4 stars and adding this info because I posted the same review on their website and within a day got a call from an executive in the company. He apologized profusely. We discussed that their processes either weren't followed or failed to take into account the needs of this project. He promised me that whey would review what happened here and make matters right. He agreed that I should not have been billed the permit fee and was removing that charge. HE ALSO - told me that he would be sending me a check that would cover the extra closing cost that came about because of their mistake. I have to say. They have really bent over backwards to make things right after the fact. Mistakes happen. This is a quality company that is focused on customer satisfaction. ********************* Original Review ********************* We paid top dollar for a company that leads the industry. The workmanship was great. The processes around the work was not great. 1) After the work was done, the bill included extra charges for permits that the sales rep didn't put in the quote. I short paid the bill and didn't hear back. 2) They FAILED to close the permit required for the work. I didn't learn about this until the day before we were supposed to close on the sale of the house. This delayed the closing and cost me $600 because the buyer lost his rate lock. I recently sold my house in Putnam County and before the sale the buyers inspector reported possible water intrusion so I called Chuck at Connecticut Basement to validate and remedy if needed. Chuck was great to work with, he was highly professional, came several times to perform a thorough assessment of my basement and concluded I did not have a water intrusion issue. Chuck and Connecticut Basement are one of the good guys who are very honest and perform their jobs with complete integrity. Im a contractor and flip houses as a side hustle - Lots of experience dealing with the trades. I'm happy with the work CT Basement did today stabilizing a compromised foundation wall that had been poured without footings. Geo locks in lieu of push piles - a HUGE savings, these are the guys that offer them. It was a 2 month wait for my appointment which was really frustrating but i cant blame them for having a full calendar. I'm really writing because their foreman on my instal( Sergio - didnt get last name ) really did a top notch instal and faced with some shortcuts that could of got him home early took the extra time and effort to get them installed to maximize draw and aesthetically aligned with existing architecture. We called CBS after experiencing water pooling in the basement of our new home around our furnace. We assumed the water was coming from the inside of our chimney because of water stains and an obvious path the water seemed to be taking. The techinician that came to our house ignored everything I told him about our chimney concerns, stating that he was sure it wa not the problem. Instead he wasted our time by measuring walls, and giving us an estimate of over $7,000 to jackhammer half of our basement. The very next day we got heavy rain and saw for ourselves that the water was as we suspected coming from inside of our chimney. The rest of the basement was bone dry with no water issues at all. We've since had the chimney repaired for $1,500 and our basement is dry. This is a disshonest, lying company that has no interest in anything but selling you something, even if you don't need it. Avoid them, or at least get a second opinion before you let them do anything. Learn from what they tried to do to us. They tried to scam us into giving the $7,000 for work that was not needed. read more

I found a renter within days of talking with him without his agent as I was still advertising. They installed their perimeter system and triple safe sump pump in May. Twice after a heavy rain I have had to call because of a puddle in a corner. The service tech did not believe me that the water was coming through the floor. After last weekend's rain, totaling 3.5 inches, I have water seeping up through the center of the floor on one side of the house, and have been shop vac'ing it up for 3 days now as it keeps seeping in. Their perimeter system is supposed to catch the water before it gets to the center of the floor, but it doesn't. I also don't think it drains far enough away from the house when the ground is saturated. And now it's going to rain again tomorrow. Very frustrated with this system. read more

I have a 3 sump-pump basement system installed by CT Basement which failed in the fall of 2021 and resulted in water in the basement. A dehumidifier installed by the company also failed. (The dehumidifier itself appears to be an overpriced re-labelling of a widely available model.) The company did not return messages for six weeks despite claiming that they have 24/7 service. I finally gave up and decided to try again in 2022. I called in February 2022 and was given an appointment for June 2022. The appointments are so rare that I had to schedule my summer vacation around it. One day before the appointment, I received a message that they would not be able to send a technician on the appointed day. It was very disappointing to find that this company's warranty is apparently not worth the paper it is written on. Edit: The business replied that their service manager left me a voicemail. This is not true. I have not received a voicemail or missed call from the service manager or anyone else at this business. read more

For a company that advertises finishing basements, the so-called professional didn't know basic construction vocabulary despite his claim of working in the business for 4 1/2 years. I could have had some patience for the cluelessness because we are all learning, but he was so snarky and rude. I spent a fortune on a full basement waterproofing project just last month. This month I already have water in my basement and I called their service department last week. They told me at the time that service is backed up and they'll give me a call back. I hadn't heard from anyone and it's been 5 days, so I call them back again and they tell me I have an appt marked for over a month from now. This is not the level of service support that I expect when I've spent over 13k on a waterproofing project and I get water weeks after the project is completed. It's disappointing to only give two stars after this project started out with so much promise. Overall, the renovation is done and the drainage system seems to work but the construction process was very frustrating. +2 Stars The first star is for the salesman who gave a very educational presentation about their systems and drafted up our plans for how they'd renovate our unfinished basement. Plus, he visited our home twice while the work was being done to check in. The second star is for the pair of polite, hard-working guys who did the demo work, installed our flooring and built/rebuilt several walls. They were pleasant and always answered questions we had. -2 Stars On the less positive side, we were regularly frustrated with how the communication and billing were handled. Communications were received via scattered emails across random topics (supplies, payments, etc.) and it felt like a second job trying to collect and address each one. I asked more than once for a schedule of events and never saw a response, so of course several times we were not home to let workers in and/or there was confusion over what/where supplies were. A some point during renovations I asked for an estimate of our final bill (so we're prepared to pay the large sum of money when work is completed). Despite repeatedly following up and even sending them my own estimate of the final bill, no information was provided. Of course when we got to the final invoice, it was wrong and I had to request they review & revise (some errors over $1,000) several times. -1 Star Lastly, there were a number of annoying details we didn't enjoy along the way. After the teams dug up a lengthy part of our lawn for a drainage pipe, the yard was left a mess and there wasn't any grass seed put down - which I was basically told they wouldn't be fixing. Another day, one of the technicians rang the doorbell and rudely told my wife "Your basement is locked", rather than telling her who he was and what he was here to do. Additionally, as we move back into our basement post-construction there are all sorts of messy spots left behind which I now have to clean up. read more

CBS they should get a zero, we called them to get a water leak around the well pipes coming into the basement sealed. They sent a folder all about the company, then a salesperson came for 3 hours, we had to hear all about how wonderful the company was and watch the video, which we already read in the folder. He took pictures of the whole basement, we weren't quit sure why, because we only wanted a water leak repair. Then came the upsell- on a dehumidifier, mold removed on a few spots here or there $700.00. My husband spent about $35.00 and sprayed the spots himself. We already had two dehumidifiers, but were convinced that ours was not efficient for the size of the area and the danger of mold problems. So we ended up spending 2000.00 on their product. To have the leak fixed was going to cost $2280.00 We paided a down payment of $1313. To the salesperson. My husband is handicapped and we needed the leak fixed as soon as possible. It was very hard for him to keep mopping up the water and carrying the pail up and down the steps.. when the technician came to make the repairs and install the dehumidifier he immediately handed me the remainder of the bill an was told to call the office to pay the bill. I did. After the dehumidifier was installed the technician said he needed to talk to his supervisor about the problem with the leak. They called back and said they were afraid there was more to the problem and that they didn't want to perform the sealing. The technician recommended we call a well company and that CBS would be sending back I Our payment, it took two calls to get our money back. It took over two weeks. They did apologize for the delay. Anyway , the well company came the next day. They sealed the wall, right then and there. Gave us a bill for $219.00. It hasn't leaked since. My husband and I are retired and on a fixed income. We feel CBS was way over priced and actually take advantage of people. Wow, hope you are proud of yourself Mr. Janesky, we would never recommend you too anyone, you and your salesperson are a rip off company. I had been dealing with a leaky basement for years. Every year it seemed to get a little bit worse. If it downpoured I was in trouble. After much debating and tired of dragging out the wet vac I called Ct. Basement Systems and set up a consultation. My consultant was Jared. He came in and went over everything with me and my son. Very thorough and very informative. Never pushy or overbearing. We decided to move forward with the project which was quite extensive but it needed to be done and I was all set with doing the project. The crew came in, 4 young men or should I say, 4 young bulls as they did the job in 6 hours when I thought it would take 2 full days. They were polite, well mannered and FAST!!! I was beyond satisfied. That was in early June 2024. We have had a horrendous summer with regards to RAIN!!! This past weekend, 8/24-25 CT was underwater. Waterbury had 5 plus inches. MY BASEMENT STAYED DRY!!!! Not a single drop of rain seeped into my basement. I would HIGHLY recommend CT Basement Systems to anyone who would like a DRY basement. Their product is great, but their installation/service departments and overall customer service is severely lacking. Caution before proceeding with this company. Long story short they installed our discharge line too close to our driveway which lopes towards the driveway. The pump that takes water from the driveway on the garage then just pumps it back out and it's a continuous circle of water. We get water in the house when it isn't a heavy rain. I have tried to get someone out to fix the problem, but there are very few service people working for the company. They cancel or don't show up. And when you call the main customer service line, they say they will follow up, but nothing happens. Good luck if you decide to go with this company! read more

My basement came out great and as expected but customer service is awful. The only issues I had were that they did not install a couple items that were specified in the proposal and there was water coming in through a door they installed. I contacted the company to have these issues fixed and was only told that the service department would contact me. Haven't heard from. 11/13/2019- basement systems came to fix my basement and as promised it didn't cost me anything but it isn't fixed. The floor seems to be ok, water is seeping through the new cement but I was told this is normal and will happen for the next month or so ... I'll see how it looks then. The door - which never leaked before basement systems came to my house - still lets water in when it rains. If you're going to have them "waterproof" your basement don't bother having them install a door. read more

I have occasional water seepage into my basement, from the chimney area. The Connecticut Basement Systems salesperson visited my home and gave me an estimate. The visit essentially consisted of playing a series of videos covering a wide range of services, some with no apparent relationship or necessity relating to our problem. Some of these items were really pricy, such as a $1500 dehumidifier. It was just a "whole ball of wax" approach, throwing everything at us. And there was no guarantee that what they proposed - at a cost of around $9,000 - would fix our problem. I did like the idea of a backup sump pump to supplement my existing sump pump. I was offered a triple pump ... a new pump to replace mine (which works fine), a backup pump, and a third battery backup pump. This is not what I wanted or needed. It's real overkill! I just needed a backup. My friend got this from Connecticut Basement Systems, so I asked for it as well. The salesman said "we don't do that.; we only sell the triple pump." When I told him my neighbor got a backup pump from Connecticut Basement Systems, he told me "good luck." So, bottom line, they try to sell you on an expensive package that might be a lot more than what you need. I gave them two stars only because their package might be worthwhile if you have a very wet, musty basement. read more

Good product but really bad service. They transfer you to wrong department and do not return calls. One time they never showed up and told me that I cancelled! No!!! Some techs that come to your home are great and others just complain. Complain about amount of water and mud but no idea what is causing. No advice. Only advice ever is to buy a baCk up pump. The system FAILED. They installed their perimeter system and triple safe pump in late August, 2023. Everything was working fine until this last big rain storm (NOTE: less than 4 months after getting the system installed). Water came into the basement in 3 separate areas. I called my salesman, first. He said to call for service, which I did. He said to text him photos, which I did. The service department basically told me that my issue was not as important as others who were having emergencies. They couldn't give me an appointment. They said they'd call back. I called my salesman again and he didn't pick up this time so I left a voicemail. I called on Monday morning. It is now Friday and I have not heard back from anyone. My contractors, who had just hung sheetrock and were about to install flooring were forced to stop. I am a recently widowed mom of 2 and I feel like I am being completely taken advantage of. They had no problem taking 17K from me back in August but less than 4 months later, I'm treated like chopped liver. My renovations have had to stop. I had originally promised my children that they would be in their new bedrooms by Christmas. Thanks to the lousy service from CT Basement Systems, my children are sleeping on the living room sofa. We bought a new home last year and didn't realize it needed water management along with other maintenance. After the two back to back storms, there was no doubt our tiny sump pump could not keep up with the water and our greenhouse (attached to our finished basement) would start to fill with water as well. CT Basement Systems came out to our home, installed a sump pump that has built in backup both on the battery and pump. They also installed a sump pump in our greenhouse which was a game changer. We no longer dread a rainstorm or fear water getting into our basement. In addition to this they put up protective wall products to draw water down to our drain system and a dehumidifier. The greenhouse can create more humidity in our basement, so the humidifier keeps the air nice and dry. The installers were professional, communicated with us throughout the install and were careful to lay down drop cloths in the areas they were working in. They even wore shoe booties on their feet before entering our home. The job was completed in one day. They ran drainage out on our property to a area with a slight slope to pull water away from our house and foundation. After going through the process myself, I would not let anyone who doesn't know what they are doing work on my house. They had to jackhammer concrete and its so loud and was a little scary sounding. One more reason we are glad we chose a company who has been doing it for years. Cannot thank Jeff and Jason enough for guiding us on what solutions would work best. Our home is dry and we are very happy about that. Thank you! We also had them do insulation work through their Dr. Energy Saver division. Will post review there too. read more

Service manager, Jeff Allen is spectacular. He came to service an existing Triple Safe Sump Pump System in my home. Jeff did a comprehensive diagnostic of the existing system and explained each of the components with extensive detail, including the age of the pumps, the horsepower and the water pumping capacity. He truly cares and has the best interest of the customers at heart. I highly recommend CT Basement Systems and will definitely ask for Jeff to do any future work or servicing that I need in my basement. read more

Don't use this company! I called Basement Systems to do a drain system and encapsulation on my crawl space. They set me up with their local guy, who did the job. Shortly afterward, there were some items that needed to be addressed. The local guy made excuse after excuse for not coming and eventually never called me back, and I later learned that he left the company. I called the original Basement Systems phone number but it is just a call center. I sent a registered letter to Basement Systems headquarters in Connecticut explaining the situation and never got a response. I called the headquarters again and was told the the local guy was a independent vendor and they were not responsible for their work. No where from the beginning of this process was I told my sole recourse with with the local vendor. Basement Systems offered no solutions whatsoever other then paying another of their vendors to do the repair. So after all the time and money spent I still have water in my crawl space and will have to hire someone else (not them!!) to do the repair. This is a terrible way to do business. Beware if you use them. The job is only as good as the vendor and you have no recourse if something goes wrong. Apparently they don't even do a good job vetting their vendors. Basement Systems does not back up their vendors work or the work with their name on it. I will be filing a complaint with Consumer Affairs. read more

I'm upgrading my 2021 review of CT Basement Systems because after the heavy rainstorm of last week my house was the ONLY house on the block with a 100% dry basement. I went out in the yard to look at the drain for the sump pump, and it was gushing water--water that never made it into my basement! If you read my initial review, you'll see I complained because no one told me I'd need to leave my basement walls open for a full year to make sure the system was working. This left my basement an impenetrable mess because I couldn't put my shelving units back up. But after this first review a service rep came to visit and suggested a reorganization that allowed me to reshelve about 75% of my stuff. Next month I'll put the walls back up and reshelve the rest of it. These people genuinely care that their products and services are working properly. When something goes wrong, they go the extra mile to put it right. And last week the system they installed for me worked, period, saving me hours of mopping and bailing. read more

So far so good, and good customer service when we did run into a problem. We had a dirt crawlspace underneath one side of our house so we had Connecticut basement systems come in and do the work for us. Firstly they have a team of employees who all work for the business they are not part-time contractors so these are people who have decent jobs year-round and get decent pay. The insulation material that they use is manufactured in Connecticut giving even more people here decent jobs. Our sales person was very nice and attentive when we did have a problem. When they installed the crawlspace they accidentally screwed up our cable. act basement systems they would pay for any billing that we got from the cable company to fix the situation. I can only speak as to the sales process for these guys, but I was very impressed by the honesty of their salesman/estimator, Nathan Roth. Nathan came over to our house, took his time looking at our issues, and in the end told us that we probably didn't need repairs at this time but to keep an eye on things. That kind of honesty---diagnosing the problem, not just focusing on the sale---earns five stars in my book. Nathan walked us through each issue we had flagged, explained how to monitor in case it worsened in the future, and gave us some pointers for future maintenance. There were no high-pressure sales tactics, which I was worried about. I can't speak as to the actual projects that these guys perform, but their salesman was great. read more

I had a system installed in my crawlspace about 3 years ago. An alarm went off all day on Sunday and there is water in the crawlspace. My contractor said it is important that I get it taken care of immediately. When I called Ct Basement Systems to set up an appointment, I was told that "we don't do emergency, we have to fit you into our schedule and the first available is Saturday afternoon" I am very disappointed that I am treated this way. And from what I read in the reviews, the de humidifier they sell is not good quality. I have allergies and am upset that I have to wait so long and most likely it will not be repaired when and if they come on Saturday. Judy read more
