I had been a regular customer of LMR tires and generally had a positive experience with them…read more However, recently my car broke down just outside of Pleasant gap. I called LMR Bellefonte and asked if they could help. They recommended that I tow the car to their Centre Hall location and helped me contact Half Moon Towing for help. After get a ride to work in Altoona, I contacted LMR Centre Hall by phone. They said the transmission had failed. I asked if that was something they could fix. They said I would have to contact the dealer. I did and it was going to cost more to fix the car than it was worth. I contacted LMR again by phone and asked if they had any suggestions and they were less than helpful. I asked if I could leave the car in their lot while I figured something out. It took about a week to get a new car, but after contacting several junk yards none, wanted the old car. I went to LMR a couple of week later to get stuff out of the car and get the key bob. One week after that I finally found out that if I could get it to the auction in Mill Hall, they would sell it. At that point I again called LMR to keep them informed. At that point they informed me that they had had the car impounded and that it would cost $400 to get it with additional charges each day. I was very upset at that point. They said they tried to call me but didn't get an answer. They had old cell number, that I no longer used. They had my address, but did not try to send me any notification by mail. I will never work with them again and I am investigating any legal action I might take.

Not sure where the other reviews about fair pricing and service are coming from, but I had the…read moreexact opposite experience (multiple times) here. We had previously taken my wife's car here for an inspection and felt like we were significantly overcharged, but gave them the benefit of the doubt. However, I will no longer be giving them any business after my experience this week. I had to have my car towed from the highway last week. They were the closest tow company and I just had it towed right to their garage, hoping that it would save me some money. Through a combination of their expensive parts distributor and the shadiness of the garage, I felt like I was being overcharged by $150-$300 (I know, big range) for a part. I called around and got pricing for that part myself and disputed the cost with the garage. They tried to pass it off on the parts distributor overcharging them, but only showed me the list price on the invoice, while intentionally hiding the net price. I spoke with the parts distributor who, while still significantly more expensive than other places, definitely did not charge them full list price. Miraculously, $150 disappeared off my bill when I spoke with the garage again and pressed further, since I knew the actual cost of the part. I ended up paying about what I "should" have (minus the still too expensive part), but if I didn't know any better I could have really been taken to the cleaners. This all felt very shady and I wouldn't feel confident recommending Dobson's to anyone.

Lo and behold, my AC decides to crap out during this hot, hot summer. A friend suggested a mom and pop shop near campus. After giving them a call, I was informed that they did not work on AC units. I then asked if there was any shop in the area they could suggest. The gentleman on the other line recommended Sharer's Automotive. I immediately gave them a call. The receptionist, Tracy, was so helpful and sweet. Thankfully, I was able to schedule an appointment for the same day (or else I would've had to drive back home to Maryland in the scorching heat!). Jared, the owner and mechanic, explained to me what was potentially happening with my car. He informed me that to know for sure whether or not there was a leak, he would need to place a special dye in the system. Jared flushed out the AC system and added refrigerant. I then scheduled a follow-up. I went back yesterday to have my AC checked. Jared found some minor leaks and gave me a pair of neon yellow glasses to see for myself (which was pretty cool, I might add!). Oftentimes, mechanics may push for unnecessary repairs and upsells. However, I am pleased to tell you that this was not the case at Sharer's Automotive. Jared was very honest, and the prices were fair. I'm delighted to have found this garage!

DO NOT GO HERE. The mechanics themselves just want to do their jobs, but the manager dude (I guess…read morehis name is Josh?) is shady asf and talks down to women. Nick had previously resealed the transmission pan on my Subaru (it was leaking before when I had tried to seal it myself with an anaerobic sealant). So he fixed it, but it started leaking again. It's a known flawed design from Subaru (the pan doesn't use a gasket but just mates metal to metal) and so it's a common issue with subarus. Anyway, Josh tried to gaslight me and tell me that the leak was actually coming from the output shaft seal because "the wind was pushing the oil leak down and making it look like the pan was leaking." In reality, he just didn't want to redo the repair because it would cost him time x money on his own dime + expensive CVT fluid. He thought he could just gaslight me about what was happening as a solo female and I'd just pay up. Well, I didn't take his bs bait. This is exactly why I started doing my own repairs on my car because you can't trust these dudes. At the very least, Josh could've tried to work with me instead of starting an argument, like say "I can see why you'd think that and we can repair xyz at discounted rate and if the transmission pan is still leaking then we'll replace that on the house." You're not very good with zero customer service skills.
