The staff here are always so helpful and friendly, I love how eager they are to show off the flavours and help you make the all important decision of what combo to have. I'm a huge fan of the non-dairy options like coconut, chocolate and sometimes avocado and lime. They are awesome tummy-friendly choices that are just as delicious as the full dairy ones which I can never really say about ice cream! Although that salted butterscotch....mmmmm. Then there is the endless topping choices...it's easy to go nuts so I like to strategically plan what toppings I want to get my froyo to suit. I'm a sucker for fruit and crumble with maple syrup. So good. The fruit is always fresh and delicious, none of the toppings ever look sad or wilted. The Hawthorn store is so pretty, a huge space with a gorgeous fit out and fun neon lights that makes it a great place to catch up with friends and actually hang out with your dessert rather than an in-and-out take away place. A friend noted that the large communal table seems to have been designed so that if you spill your froyo, it doesn't drip off the sides - clever! Hawthorn seems to be going through quite an invigoration at the moment and Yo-Chi fits in perfectly with that. Add to the fact that Yo-Chi is a family-owned Melbourne business that supports local, takes care with offering natural no-nasties produce, and gives you their wifi for free and you have an all-round winning spot to grab a dessert after visiting one of the many restaurants popping up around Glenferrie Road.

Okay.. we took off to Waverley Road, Malvern East.. yesterday afternoon.. to have a sundae at DAIRY BELL ICE-CREAM SHOP.. Well.. of course.. another one gone.. it was there last year.. but, whole building bull-dozed.. this year..!! Google came up with another place - LICK ME ICE-CREAM on Riversdale Road, Middle Camberwell.. [Incidentally.. this shop is also known as THE BIRTHDAY CAKE SHOP and GOURMET ICE-CREAM FACTORY..] Anyway, no sundaes on offer.. smoothies still all the rage.. so we ordered: -2 x Caramel Thick Shakes with added Malt - $5.95 + .50 = $6.45 each - These were TRULY DELISH..!! - Loads of Ice-cream, Full-cream Milk, Quality tasting Caramel Topping plus Malt Powder.. YUM..!! -1 x 3 scoop Large Waffle Cone - $6 - Chose a Caramel, a Chocolate and Hokey Pokey - Disappointed with the flavour.. not much there.. could hardly discriminate between the 3 scoops.. only marked difference was the colour.. -1 x 500ml take-home tub from the freezer - $8.90 - A coffee variety.. not good.. too aerated.. almost like foam rather than ice-cream.. not sure what happened here.. I asked if their ice-cream was made on premises.. she said "Yes, we make it every Wednesday".. Signage says it's "All Natural.." "Made in Melbourne.." Okay.. well.. my recommendation - A REALLY GREAT PLACE FOR A GENEROUS OLD-FASHIONED LARGE THICK SHAKE AT A VERY GOOD PRICE - $5.95....!!!! [PS. Milk Shakes - $4.95] [PSS. They take card payment - a rarity in little ice-cream shops] Visited on Saturday 26/09/2015 with my family of four.

They come in cute colourful little tubs with speech bubbles that say (surprisingly) "Lick Me"). If you have, and furthermore if you've tried said ice cream, you'll at the very least suspect that the ice cream maker should be tracked down and camped outside of. Well, ladies and gentlemen, I have found that location. The scoops are big, the cost is cheap and the fit out does not befit the numerous awards this place has won. Get the cinnamon. Trust me.

All I felt 933 of them and i feel cheated, as for the frozen part, the product was only part frozen. Another disappointment. I also did not appreciate the sheer amount of choice of flavour available in store. 6 choices? It sent my anxiety into overdrive and I felt on the verge of a panic attack. Why not just one flavour: plain, coupled with a daily rotating flavour of the week. And also just out of curiosity, why don't you sell/do pizza? There's clearly a gap in the market there

I was thrilled when Frozen took over a section of what was once an unreasonably enormous pharmacy to bring the tart goodness of fro yo to South Yarra. It's a familiar formula: choose a small, medium or large cup. Fill it with your favorite flavors (natural, coconut and chocolate are my picks), then load on your toppings from the self serve bar and pay by weight. These aren't just any toppings though. They rotate... a lot... which is obviously a clever ploy to keep customers coming back for more. It works. I fall for it. Because they're interesting: halva (halawa), banana bread, green tea and red bean mochi, passionfruit pearls, super ripe and fresh mango, kiwi and more, PB cups, toasted nuts, muesli, shredded coconut... You can be as virtuous or indulgent as you like, moving from the right side of the bar (fruit, nuts etc) to the left (sex, er, chocolate). You can taste any flavor you want before paying. ... See you there?
