I left Concord Eye Care a few years ago because the office is so hard to work with. I had to wait an hour for appointments and it was near impossible to get through to the front desk. I returned recently because my insurance plan left me no other option in Concord. It's worse. While all my other medical providers have an online option to reschedule or communicate with the team, Concord Eye Care puts on you hold for sometimes more than 5 minutes. If you get lucky, the call does not get dropped. Checking in for an appointment is no better. The line is usually four or five people deep and moves so slowly because the front desk seems to have to print out multiple forms and re-ask a dozen questions each time you visit, even when its been a month between appointments. My doctor there - Dr. Gould - is fantastic but I'm not sure I can put up with the hassle of seeing her. read more

This place is terrible on many counts. The first is with Dr. Richardson. He spent the entire time talking about his national guard experience. He forgot to even look at my eyes before I reminded him of it. Then he spent less than 10 seconds to look at both my eyes and said everything was fine. The unfriendly assistant did the entire rest of the exam. They still charged the full amount. Furthermore, they failed to bill my insurance and rather than correcting their issue, just tried to get me to pay the full amount. Additionally, on two separate occassions I stopped in to get my prescription so I could shop for glasses, and they refused to give it to me. They came up with many different excuses before I reminded them that it was a HIPAA violation and they were breaking the law by withholding medical records. Finally they gave in. I am attempting to switch to a different eye Dr, and now they are not sending my medical records to the new Dr. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! read more

We went to pick up my 90 year old mother's expensive glasses, only to find out Dr. Morse did NOT fill out the prescription for prisms in her specialty glasses. An hour and a half to travel down there is not easy, so it was a huge disappointment to see such an apathetic mistake from the doctor, now she has to go back in a couple of weeks when they redo the glasses. Confidence in this company is low after this experience and seeing the other reviews of the apathy and lack of caring is a red flag. read more

The first cataract experience was awesome. When I left the building, I couldn't believe that the snow on the ground was so WHITE! I didn't know my color perception had changed. The second eye was a totally different story. I was prepped and when I told the nurse that I didn't want to be awake, she told me I had to be. I said that I wasn't for my first eye and she got really rude and suggested I leave if I didn't like it. I should have known better because though I also told the nurses (not sure about the nurse title - let's say assistants) that I cannot lay flat. When I woke up with painful clips holding my eye open, in incredible pain because they had me flat, I kept trying to tell him to stop and then tried to bend my knees. Someone grabbed my legs and laid on them. It's hard to impress how much that hurts someone who has had 7 fusions in my lower spine. I physically cannot lay flat. Dr. Snead and his team might be making money, but I felt like I had visited a civil war medical tent. read more

Wow!.. little did I know that the reputation was so poor at the Eye Center that I've been attending for the last 15 years. I always felt my doctor was a little rushed, but my last experience was just not to be believed.. I had a pending eye exam for over two years, confirming the appointment myself three months before my appointment just to make sure .Since my eyes have been bothering me for months and I've been wearing broken glasses.. when I called to confirm my appointment , I left the detailed message on their answering machine, asking of the time and the date to make sure I had it correct; after so long on my calendar . I had a handwritten card from the office that stated October 1st at 4 PM .I arrive promptly at 4 PM . and shockingly I'm told my long pending appointment is canceled because I'm 10 minutes late. No I was not 10 minutes late. I had a handwritten card from their office with the date and time on it . And , on my cell phone ,the phone calls to and from their office, confirming the time and date of my appointment Soo inconsiderate! .. they couldn't even give me an appointment soon , or acknowledge that it was their mistake ,even though I had the evidence to prove it ! Instead, I couldn't see that doctor probably for another two years!.. they gave me an appointment with a new doctor ,90 days later in a new office across town. I reached out to the office ; and not once did I receive any understanding or empathy for the health of my eyes, not to mention the frustration I endured from their rudeness and inconsiderate attitude. Needless to say the next day, I was there asking for my health records to be transferred to a new eye doctor. Like one of the previous reviews stated " if they could give this office a zero for customer service they would .. I would give it less than zero!! I guess it's obvious they do not care about losing patience . I've never seen any professional so happy , with such a phony /condescending attitude to lose a patient after so many years. PS . This doctor is NOT a pediatric doctor - or at least she should not be qualified to be one. We had a terrible experience and I really do not want anyone else to have this experience with their child! So I encourage you to go somewhere else. The doctor walked in, barely said hi to my child, and then began opening his eyes and touching his face immediately - without even trying to be kind/silly/at least somewhat distracting to a 17 month old child who definitely doesn't want a stranger poking at his face. He began screaming and crying. He was extremely uncomfortable (understandably so as some random stranger was poking at him in the dark and not saying anything or attempting to distract him) and the doctor just told me to hold him down. It honestly felt traumatizing. I knew that my child was going to be nervous with this experience, but I at LEAST expected a PEDIATRIC doctor to come in and be silly or attempt to be a little distracting. Terrible. I do not recommend this place, especially if you have a young child. I gave it one star because I had to, otherwise I would give it zero stars. read more

The worst place I have ever been to.I sent my child there for a contact lens fitting.The doctor showed impatience the first time when she knew that my child was just there for once.The contact lens fitting was not successful. I booked another appointment with them. I waited there for about 25 minutes and was invited to an office. The admin. person along with the doctor told me that they can't perform services to my child. What I was told is that they don't have resources for that. They could have called me or texted me before I arrived there.The admin.personnel even lied to me by saying they have tried to call me. My mother, sister and I have been seeing Jen for over 20 years. The reason I continue to see Jen is that she has a compassionate, caring nature. Jen always allocates time to conduct a professional assessment on my eyes and helps me to find awesome new frames. My mother is disabled and Jen gives extra time to mum too. When I return to pick up my glasses I have no hesitation to drive an hour to see Jen, Jen has helped me so much that she recommended me EFT for Eyesight improvement which has helped over the years. I never feel rushed by Jen in my consultation. Additionally Jen is very reasonable in cost. 10/10 Jen. I believe that Jen is an earth angel. Quiet, caring and compassionate, Jen has the latest technology too. read more

Nursing infants not welcome. They refused to see my 6 year old son when my wife showed up with a nursing 5 week old, due to their no sibling policy. I understand they have every right to have this policy, but it's obvious they are more concerned with blindly enforcing nonsensical policies than providing healthcare to children. read more

Have been a customer for 8 years. Bending to the whim of the doctor who is clearly looking to keep insurance payments coming in. Prior to coming her my eye dr was satisfied with yearly glaucoma and cataract check, here though every 6 months. If there was any change in my eye pressure or advancement of my cataract I might understand, but in 8 years it has stayed the same!! The billing is a mess, clearly staffed by incompetent individuals who could care less about customer service. They more than other of my list of reasons are why I'm out of there. I'll drive the 2 hours to go back to my eye dr in MA rather than step foot back. read more

I have been wearing glasses for 20 years. Recently my eye doctor retired, and I went to Concord Eye Center for both an eye exam and for a new pair of glasses. I thought the eye doctor who saw me was phenomenal, and would have given Concord Eye Center five stars if not for my experience in their optical shop, which was terrible. While the optical shop has a great selection of frames, I found the staff inexperienced at helping with the selection and adjustment process. I was invited to come back for any adjustments I might need as I settled into the new pair of glasses but I plan to continue shopping for my long-term eye care needs after this experience read more

I can't say enough what a wonderful experience I had with Rob Tierney. He worked with me to get a new pair of lenses into a frame for my best friend- frames which were of incredibly high sentimental value. Rob was just amazingly thoughtful, communicative, and went out of his way several times to make this happen. I will never forget his kindness and will visit him in the future for any vision needs. read more

We have been patients of Concord Eye for 25 years. In the earlier years it seemed better. Over the past few years, service has been definitely poorer. In 2018 I had my annual eye appt pushed out four times with no explanation as to why. Since I was having an issue, I asked for another doctor. This year my husband, who has always had poor vision, developed some serious issues. Surgery was scheduled and when the paperwork came, it was for the wrong eye. Not encouraging. After a couple of procedures it was decided that he should go to Boston for another opinion. It took over two months to get his medical records sent down. We had to made multiple calls and never received the courtesy of a call back. The staff that we did speak to were not overly helpful. The practice management for this large eye center has become very poor. It is very disappointing and we will be looking for another eye doctor. This is too bad as we have always been good patients and Concord Eye is convenient for us. All patients, however, deserve good service both from the physician and from the staff. I was a patient of this practice for about 35 years, through two moves and at least one name change. I was a patient of Dr Lipsey's from before she was married. I put off making appointments because it's such a miserable experience. Dr Lipsey doesn't pay more attention than is required for lip service. Switching from my new hard contact lenses to my new prescription glasses I find they don't match- never did. This is because hard lenses change the shape of your eye. Dr Lipsey explained this to me, but refused to adjust the glasses prescription. I give up. As bad as she is, the rest of the staff is worse. Surly, uncommunicative unless hostile, unwilling to fill the simplest request. I wanted a copy of my prescription, which they are bound to provide by law, a few months ago. I called ahead, "No problem- we're open 'til 8" but it took five minutes of persuasion to get one of the receptionists to print one page. So used to their miserable performance was I that I printed the relevant statute in anticipation of trouble. I should have started with it. Why did I continue to patronize this poor practice? Inertia- I only went every other year, and like anything one does infrequently that one hates, I steeled myself and plunged in. Concord counts on inertia; that people are too lazy to try elsewhere. No more. I haven't had any insurance nightmares, and as far as prices go, they are competitive for Concord, which to say expensive. The opticians are competent. I never had eye surgery, and they never pushed it on me as they have with other family members. read more

I had a great experience with Dr. Willette, and it changed my mind completely from last year. Last year I saw Dr. Benoit and will NEVER go back to him. The entire appointment left a bad taste. He removed my contacts without asking first; he just told me to quickly look up and bam...he took one out, then reached right over to the other...no comment at all to me. Same thing putting them back in...told me look this way and that, and just took it upon himself to put them in. He also has no personality. The worst part ever was I was in the room at the end of a hallway... While my eyes were being dilated, he left me there with the door open and I saw all these people coming and going ...while I was there for 45 minutes and while I heard him in the next room with another patient. I even saw him walk the patient in AFTER my eyedrops and finish with the patient before returning to me. NOT impressed. I HAVE set my appointments ahead a year each time and I've yet to have one kept. I keep getting a notice for whatever reason that I have to reschedule, while at the other office, but I think the hospital campus may be better. read more

First of of all, I must preface this by saying this review is a combination of my personal & professional experience. Personally, I have had 2 acute eye problems (blocked tear duct Dr. Weinberg) & rare eye infection handled expertly (referred to Boston for infection Dr. Wicox). Routine eye refraction (checking prescription for lenses) by optometrists Drs. Benoit & Rheault were correct & done carefully. I cannot say the same for other places I have tried, and then returned to Concord Eye Care. There is a long wait for their services, so book ahead. This is not a Walmart or LensCrafter. This is a full service MEDICAL eye center.There are 2 pediatric ophthalmologists in this location- there are only a couple of others in whole state of NH. As a pediatric RN I know that when the pediatricians have a concern-they turn to those 2 docs. I have never experienced disorganization by support staff, quite the contrary has been true. read more

Where do I start. My wife and I left Laconia at 2:30 PM for her 3:45 appointment. Traffic was terrible and we were 10 minutes late. We go into the office and a customer service person was helping someone and no one else was available. We waited about 4 minutes for someone to show up and when we saw her she said my wife could not see Dr. Benoit as she was past the ten minute limit and that is there policy. To be truthful my wife would still be sitting in the waiting room waiting to see Dr. Benoit. My last appointment with Dr. d'Hemecourt in June I waited for a half hour in the waiting room and then another half hour in the office. Maybe My wife and I should have told both Doctors that each visit was free as they are always late to see us. Yet one time my wife is 5 minutes late and she is not allowed to see the Dr. (even though is they did allow her to still see the Dr. she would still be in the waiting.) The best a Manager could do was m offer her an appointment at 6 pm three hours later. She should have taken it as by the time the Dr. would have seen her it probably would be 6 pm. This so called Policy is terrible, If I could give this place a zero I would. We both asked for our records and we are both going to find a new friendlier place. You have been warned do not go here, find a other place that actually respects there patients! read more

We were new to the area and looking for an eye doctor for our family. I visited Concord eye care prior to making an appointment to ensure they were covered by our insurance. I shared my insurance card/information with them and asked them to verify that an eye doctor's appointment would be covered. They confirmed that it would. Again, before the appointments that both my husband and I made, I asked that they again verify that the appointments would be covered. Again, they confirmed they would. Of course, they were not and cost over $300 out of pocket. When I called about this large unexpected bill, my calls were repeatedly unreturned despite promises that they would be returned promptly. I had to walked out of that office. First when I checked in, people in the front office are NOT very friendly. She asked for my insurance card but I didn't have it and she was annoyed that I don't have it. I told her that it was given to them from the last appointment (my husband gave them his card) but she said it wasn't scanned. Well, it was not my problem that they didn't scan it. Then my appointment was for 2pm and it was 2:40pm, no one rooming me in. When I checked out to reschedule because I had to go back to work. The lady in the check out had an attitude as well. Both Dr. Weber and Dr. Baylus are thorough and caring. I've felt in other offices that I've asked one to many questions or that I'm just taking to much time to decide if one or two is better during the exam. I never feel that way in their office. Their staff is friendly and competent as well. The equipment in the exam rooms is advanced as it gets and you'll leave knowing you've got the best prescrition as well as basic eye care possible. NEVER! NEVER! NEVER! My primary care physician's office referred my five year old daughter to Concord Eye Care 3 weeks ago after she began complaining of colored "clouds" in her field of vision. I wanted her to see a pediatric ophthalmologist as this was her first eye doctor experience and I wanted it to be positive. The visit was a disaster from start to finish. The receptionist who checked us in (on time) was beyond rude, at one point asking me "Did you bring it's paperwork?" We then waited for almost ninety minutes in the crowded waiting area before getting called into an exam room. The same receptionist mentioned above could not be bothered to get out of her chair and check on my polite request as to why we had not yet been seen. Finally, I interrupted a passing nurse. She came back and informed me that they had "lost us" and were very sorry. A nurse / technician then brought my daughter into an exam room, tested her vision (it was 20/20) then put drops in her eyes to dilate them. She was polite but certainly not friendly, and was obviously in a hurry. We then waited another 45 minutes in the waiting room before being called back in to see the doctor. We then waited 35 minutes in the exam room for the doctor to come in. I noticed during this interval that only one of my daughter's eyes actually dilated. The other apparently did not get enough of the drops?There were NO TOYS in the exam room of a pediatric ophthalmology office! When the doctor (Dr. Morse) finally came in with an assistant she never introduced herself to me, spoke almost exclusively to her assistant, and within 10 minutes informed me that my daughter had some (unpronounceable) condition and she needed glasses to correct her vision. I asked about the "clouds" my daughter had mentioned and she replied "That's an unusual complaint." and said that perhaps the glasses would resolve the problem and that we should come in for a recheck in 2-3 months. The doctor then left the room before I could ask any questions and without giving me any written information explaining my daughter's supposed condition, or any site I could check out to learn more. We were then ushered out into the hall where my child was fitted for glasses, and my credit card was charged $218. I had arrived for a 10:10 appointment on time. When I left the office it was 1:14. On my ride home, after seething for 15 minutes, I called the office back, cancelled the glasses and informed Concord Eye Care that I would be seeking a second opinion. My daughter's second opinion appointment was yesterday. Not only is her vision perfect, the "clouds" are apparently normal visual phenomena many children notice, but that the adult brain filters out as extraneous. The visual abnormality noted by Dr. Morse was likely the result of her eyes being unequally dilated. Bottom line, poor customer service and office disorganization set aside, if I had listened to Dr. Morse my child would be in glasses she didn't need, doing who knows what to her normal vision. DO NOT GO TO THIS OFFICE AND DO NOT GO TO THIS DOCTOR!!!!!! read more
