Reading others' reviews, I am reminded that I, who used to have exams at the hospital location, was sent to the PillsburySt location for their retina specialist, where delays began. I depend on others for rides, and dread anything lengthy, but confusion by them had me scheduled for one doctor, but not for the ophthalmologist for prescription. We ended up there for FOUR HOURS, and were given the next appt. Returned a month or so later and got through the lens doctor, but then stupidly "pushed our luck" going to the optical shop, where I had already determined to keep my frames, which I had purchased from the CH location years ago, so it should have been an easy order, but the sales lady , who was playing my husband against me and effusively apologizing for her suggestions, really pushed for me to get smaller ones...I held my ground, and signed a release of liability, so she would order them...she did so, but again, the visit lasted 3 + Hours!!! I guess the pandemic must have left them shorthanded, like it did ALL OTHER health services? Anyway, the wait times and seeming lack of respect for patients' time is unacceptable. It's been over a month, and I haven't gone back for the lenses, so finally called ( which I expected they'd do, but I guess that's too much to ask for $800+ lenses, which I PRE-PAID...without new frames! I might amend this review when I do go back, but I'm not holding my breath... SO SAD, even more than angry or disappointed, because my vision is terrible, and I wear Coke bottle-thick glasses, so I need friends at my eye doctor's, not to be ignored and delayed, and to wait endlessly! read more

I am very disappointed. I had scheduled an appointment originally at the Pillsbury Building location, and received a letter telling me my doctor was no longer with the practice. They changed the time of my appointment (only 10 minutes earlier), and changed the location of the appointment to Pillsbury *Street*. I went to the old location, 10 minutes early, and the receptionist sent me to the Pillsbury Street location. She also called ahead to say I was on my way. Both she and the receptionist at this location emphasized the "10 minute cutoff" rule - the first I ever heard of this. I checked in at 8:42 for an 8:30 appointment. The tech who did my initial screening was fine - she moved me to the doctor's waiting area at 9:10. Finally, at 9:55, I had waited long enough and went to check out and leave. While I was checking out (it's now after 10), someone finally came to get me. When I said I was leaving, that I had other things to do, I was told "well, you were late, and we are running behind." The late part, I get. The running behind? It's now 55 minutes after I got to the doctor's waiting room, and somehow my 10 minutes caused that much of a cascade of lateness? Perhaps they should examine their booking schedules. I'm sad to say I am changing practices, after 13 years with Concord Eye. read more

I waited almost 2 months to get into Concord Eye on Pleasant Street in Concord, my appt was scheduled for 10:50am - when I called to get directions before leaving my house; they told me my appt was changed to 930 (it was 9:25am when I called for directions for my 10:50appt) - I said nobody ever communicated that to me; first they said they sent me a text message; then they changed that and said they called me. They did not do either one. They told me the appt had to be rescheduled and I would be waiting weeks to get in. I declined. VERY poor customer experience! read more

Unfortunately the office is run like a factory. Not a personalized experience then I was not informed they charge a fee for use of a credit card. I called after to share this concern about and never received a response. read more

I left Concord Eye Care a few years ago because the office is so hard to work with. I had to wait an hour for appointments and it was near impossible to get through to the front desk. I returned recently because my insurance plan left me no other option in Concord. It's worse. While all my other medical providers have an online option to reschedule or communicate with the team, Concord Eye Care puts on you hold for sometimes more than 5 minutes. If you get lucky, the call does not get dropped. Checking in for an appointment is no better. The line is usually four or five people deep and moves so slowly because the front desk seems to have to print out multiple forms and re-ask a dozen questions each time you visit, even when its been a month between appointments. My doctor there - Dr. Gould - is fantastic but I'm not sure I can put up with the hassle of seeing her. read more

My pre-op, surgical and first follow-up were good. The staff was courteous and professional and the doctor did great work. It was a 5-star review until the second follow-up appointment. I received a verbal change to this appointment and misunderstood the time, writing it incorrectly in my calendar. I drove an hour to the appointment, was told I was 20 minutes late and to reschedule. I had never received an email, text or phone confirmation. When I contacted the office, I was told a new system was causing glitches with confirmation notices, an individual sometimes got phone numbers wrong when calling to confirm, and then received an apology. The thing is I never received confirmation for any of my appointments over 3 months. I get confirmations for my hair cuts, so it seems this office should step up to avoid mistakes, mine and theirs. read more

i'm leaving this review after they have closed because my appointment was at 3:40 PM and I still haven't been seen. I'm still sitting in their waiting room. If you call for a prescription refill, the staff are rude to you condescending and un caring. If you call for an appointment, they set it on their schedule fine. I base my work schedule around it. Plan for an entire day off if I were you, my appointment was at 3:40. It is now 540 and I still have not been seen. This is normal. Had an appointment I waited 3-4 months for. Received a call confirming that appointment 7 days before the appointment. Four days before the appointment received another call cancelling the appointment only to call them back to be told it would be 3-4 months before they could book me in for a new appointment. Very disappointed with the level of respect and costumer service. I would recommend you going anywhere else. We had an appointment for my son's contact fitting. It was scheduled for 8:40am and I got a reminder the day stating it was at 8:10am. I didn't get a call for the time change nor did I get a call about the reschedule. We had another appointment at 8am already So there was no way to make both at the same time. I called to see what was going on and spoke with a very nice secretary that apologized and even owned their mistake for not calling to let us know. She said she would put me on hold and see what else they could do. That's when a very disrespectful women I am assuming the eye doctors assistant, which is Dr. Deckelbaums assistant. She chose to take an innocent situation and be accusatory, she was rude and abrupt with me. I tried to explain what was going on and she called me abusive and aggressive. For one it's clear who's the abuser as she came at me with intent to shut me down for their mistake. She proceeded to lie to me and said 3 mangers told her that I was being aggressive. I said I've only spoken to two people. One was a nice secretary but that she has not been kind at all. I was so shocked and appalled. She said reschedule or find somewhere else to go. I am so disappointed in the lack of accountability & lack of responsibility they have to care for their clients. Taking advantage of their patients like that is completely bad practice. It's sad to see this kind of behavior and management allowing for their employees to treat anyone the way I was treated. The optical shop is the worst. If you order glasses or contacts, good luck. They take forever, lie about having placed the order, and they continue to lie when they claim they called and left a message for you. It's awful and we will never go back. read more

I purchased my glasses last year with the glass scratch warranty, went in there today to get just my left lense changed because my prescription had changed and also to collect on the warranty of my right lense because it was scratched. I was told that they use a different lab so I would have to purchase two new lenses instead of the one and because they no longer used the lab my original lenses were made I could not collect on the warranty. So in other words last year I paid for a warranty I cannot use and they would not stand behind. The clerk did not even try to work with me, and seemed to be more interested in sipping her iced coffee than helping me out. Horrible service, will not buy my glasses there again. read more

Let me preface by saying that I am completely happy with Dr. Maxwell Snead and his staff - five stars for them!! I've been seeing Dr. Snead even before he joined the Concord Eye Clinic. But the rest of the people that I've had to deal with in Concord Eye Clinic are incompetent morons that do not listen to patients. I only go there once per year and each time I encounter the most ridiculous issues, all from support staff of the clinic. I have informed Dr. Snead of this during my visits, stating that he and his staff are the only reason I still go there. After today's fiasco, just trying to get a copy of my prescription, I'm all done with that nasty place. I'm looking for another place where they actually listen and treat patients with consideration. read more

She tells me they called and left a message, but no message was ever left. Poor communication. I had an eye infection and cellulitis and needed to be seen as soon as possible. Dr Hall was kind enough to fit me into his schedule today and I started antibiotics within an hour! This practice is definitely busy but everyone I encountered today did a tremendous job. They were there to help me and it showed. From the initial call to receiving a call back to being assessed by Alexis.....it was all done with a smile, an introduction, courtesy and professionalism. A very pleasant experience. I finally went there and picked them up and was told they had been there for 2 weeks. I want to buy my glasses from Zenni, but Concord Eye Center wouldn't give me my Pupillary Distance (PD). They claim some "insurance liability" issue. Of course, it has nothing to do with selling me high priced glasses. read more

I recently went to Concord Eye Center and really had no issues between doctors and other staff, but I was made aware of a woman named Tammy. She was truly being SO rude to another staff member and even semi-rude to me, and the other staff member seemed somewhat new, and I just found It unacceptable. When I went to make a complaint, I was told they would deal with it. I just want to make sure everyone is aware before becoming a patient of this staff member, I've never been treated so poorly by someone in the medical field EVER. read more

My first experience with Concord Eye Center was very good. I was very pleased with the surgery that I had. However, two years later I'm needing a different surgery. My consultation was so different. It was like a cattle call. In and out quickly which was nice in a way but very hurried. I was supposed to get a call back to schedule an appointment. I did not get a call back after 3 days, so I called, left a message, no response several days later, called again, left another message. Nothing. So i called again and finally got the person that was supposed to call me. She said she had to get her calendar out and would call me back that day. No call. Its' now been 2 weeks and I cannot get anyone to call me to schedule and I also cannot get an estimate for the service I need. I'm going to have to start over with a different facility now to do my surgery. Oh, and now when I call it goes to voicemail and can't even get a person to pick up. read more

Never waste my time with them again- staffing shortage yet they brag about having 2 locations- they don't answer phone, don't return calls, supposed to expedite glasses for kid but its been 2 weeks and not a word from them.....they called to tell us another family members glasses were ready for pick up and when we drove there to get them, they couldn't find the glasses. Also, when I bought the last pair for child, they measured his face for glasses- when I asked if I could get those measurements, they told me NO and that they are "separate from the clinic." As people know, you can order glasses online if you have those measurements. Will figure it out and order online from now on. Waste of time and money. Not helpful. The opthalmologists whom I have seen have been good. Both have been businesslike and quick but I felt they were thorough. I have had two eye surgeries through this practice and they have both been successful. I gave them this grade because the wait time is so extreme. They must book 4-5 people at the same time. I have been there for up to two hours for a routine exam. My time is as valuable as their time. It is too bad. read more

Overall, I have been pretty satisfied with this office. Dr. Erin Fogel took over my care from another doctor, since she apparently is some sort of nationally known expert in my condition. Although she is "all business" and not given to much small talk she is pleasant and answers all my questions thoroughly. She has performed surgery on me twice, both of which had excellent outcomes. The technicians who do the preliminary work, for the most part, I have found to be friendly and professional. My only complaint is the waiting time. When I know I have an appointment there I always plan on spending a good part of the afternoon! While pretty good about getting me into an exam room the wait for the doctor can -and often does - exceed an hour or longer. I suspect they overbook their appointments since they know a certain number won't show up. I would - and have - recommended Dr. Fogel to others. read more

Terrible place. Impossible to get them to call back and no one ever answers the phone. Front desk staff are rude and seem more interested in eating than being sure that they process correct charges and co-pys. We were overcharged on our co-pay then the clerk couldn't figure out how to give us a credit on our credit card! No one else could either. They told us we would have to call for a credit the next day. We were sent a credit in the mail but then received a bill for twice the overpayment! Sent a letter and the note we received back from a billing clerk was incomprehensible (grammar and spelling). Called several times and couldn't get through.... The Optometrist we had never introduced herself, had no ID of name tag on, and was clearly uninterested in patients. She was also rude. This practice is almost as bad as Nashua Eye. We will be going to Lens Crafters from now on and to Mass Eye and Ear for any interventions. AVOID THIS PLACE read more

Excellent service from the staff and care from the physicians (Dr. Lloyd Wilcox and Dr. Kristen Bryant). They handled an emergency situation with grace, and seamlessly fit the patient into the schedule. All steps of the exam were explained by the physicians before and as they were happening. This is the eye care center I recommend to everybody. read more

Was fit in on a walk in referral to double check potential infection. Dr wasn't real interested in history. We kind of started in the middle and circled back around to "oh, you have had this before?" Kind of fast moving and fast talking. Came in during tech intake and buzzed out soon thereafter. Lisa was excellent. Dr Smith kind of too fast moving. I get being "fit in" and appreciated it but our heads were spinning. This appt was for my challenged daughter. Not overall impressed with his manner. Hoping his treatment plan and direction is effective. A lot of medical jargon. Too fast of directions and expectations. read more

This place will tell you the cost (co pay) then send a Bill for over $400.00 then when you have witnesses they yell at you. Not a good place and I warn all my friends. Avoid it. You will also wait and wait and wait. Over booking issues. read more

Had an appointment on Wednesday at 2:00. Didn't get out til 4:40! They were so behind/overbooked. No social distancing at all in any of their waiting rooms! Stagnant air! Was so hot and smelly in the waiting areas. They were even telling patients they would have to make another appointment to finish their exam the dr he was so far behind! If they had stated that upon check in I would have re-booked! Time to change eye Drs! read more

Excellent service from staff and doctors at this very busy practice. Our 1st experience here was in October when my husband experienced a detached retina, was referred here and had emergency eye surgery by Dr Foley. At the initial visit, day of surgery and all the follow ups the staff and Dr Foley could not have been nicer or more efficient. Everything happened very smoothly and efficiently and continued to do so throughout the 3 month recovery period. Saw a different dr this week for cataract surgery and experienced same treatment. Sometimes it is difficult to get a call thru and you have to be called back which can be annoying, but it is a very busy office and they do call back. Waiting time at appointments to see the dr has been pretty short except for the initial visit, but that was not a regularly scheduled visit and they fit my husband in. Have to expect that under those circumstances. Bottom line, happy with the service and confidence in the doctors so therefore will continue to drive an hour each way for peace of mind. read more

Terrible. My wife was ten minutes late for an appointment due to traffic, as we live in Laconia. We went to check in, no one was at the desk. Finally 5 minutes later someone showed up and said we were to late and my wife could not see the Doctor, after we just drove 45 minutes. When in reality she would still be sitting in the waiting room waiting for the Doctor. Normal wait is 30 to 4o minutes, then they come get you put you in another room and you wait another 30 minutes for the Doctor. The lady at the desk even had the gall to tell us that there policy not to be late is on the paperwork that they give you to fill out in the waiting room. We asked for her Supervisor, that was a waste. Someone from the office e mailed me to see if I wanted to discuss the matter with her. I thought about it, yet why would they change their policy over us two, not a chance. I am also a patient, and now we both no longer go there. Please think twice about going to a place that has this policy! Don't be late or else you can make another appointment to come back three or four months later!!!! read more

I had Dr. Kristen Bryant in 2014 and absolutely loved her. At that time, I had specifically requested to have my next appointment for Dec 2015 during my break from work. A week before my vacation break and my appointment, I was called and told Dr. Bryant had left the practice and they had rescheduled me an appointment the first week of January with Dr. "X". As I have already used my vacation hours during my break, this did not set well to begin with. Today I arrived well in advance for the appointment so as to fill in the necessary paperwork inevitably needed and the trainer/trainee at the desk took a bit of time but I was ready for my appt.; Dr. X came out to get me (only 5 minutes late). When it came time to remove my contacts, he said nothing but "look down, now up" and reached into my eye and removed my contact(s). THAT I do NOT like. To not even warn me or ask if I minded...not happy. The same thing happened at the end of the appt to insert them...I did not know what he was doing until he set the contact(s) on my eye. In between this, during the dilation process, he said he would let the solution set 10-15 minutes. As I was in the room at the end of the hallway and the door was left open, I was sitting there, not able to see well, for 45 minutes!!! He had taken another patient in the meantime (I know because I saw them going into the next room beside me and I could hear them talking), and he did the other patient's entire visit while I sat there, watching everyone coming and going, and other patients able to watch me just sitting there. I had no magazines, nothing. No apology when he came back in the room. 45 Minutes!!! Oh, and he also told me how the brand/style contact I have is no longer available. I explained I had been told that before but had still be receiving them from 1-800-contacts and he told me, "Well, their warehouses are empty; I just tried calling them a few weeks ago." I'm sure that's because they try to get business for their eyeglass center. I also agree with another review on here...the rest of the staff have no personality, are short with you, and definitely seem uninterested in their jobs. I plan to request another Dr for next time and if I can't get one, I won't remain a patient of this center.. read more

I would highly recommend going elsewhere the employees at this facility are extremely impatient, rude, clicky, unfriendly, have no personality what so ever and most certainly should not be in the positions that they are in working with the public. the service at this facility has certainly gone seriously down hill since I was there a few years ago. I have never seen so many unfriendly and rude people in one place as there are there. I was appalled and disgusted and most certainly hope to find a better more friendly place in the future. These people seriously need to consider a career change and I can almost guess they are only in it for the money. Because they certainly do not have a friendly smile, how are you today, outgoing personality - nothing they are extremely ignorant, impatient, and rude. Scheduled for cataract surgery. After the surgery ended up with problem. Steroid responder but stayed on med for over a year and a half. On other drops besides. Eye developed uvelitis. Feared losting eyesight. Over this course of time meds were changed out constantly. Still problems. Hair thinned, rashes developed from some meds, gain weight, GI problems, dry eye got worse. Light sensitivity increased so I wore sunglasses even indoors. I had my man cave. Had to put off surgery for second eye. Basically can't see. Last visit insisted I have second eye done even my other not recovered. Told them no but received a phone call setting me up. Again NO! Left practice. Headed for Boston. Half hour i n chair with only dilated eyes. Nothing else. FRAGMENTS FROM SURGERY STILL IN EYE! I jumpedthrough hoops, had procedures for eyes and appointment after appointment and this problem was found in a half hour with new doctor. Fragments out. Better but still see doctor due to underlying problems due to surgery. They're still not sure how much my vision will improve. Have to still hold off 2nd eye. Cataract has been ripe for almost 2 yrs. read more

Update: as of April 2014, I never was able to get the receipt for the contacts, even after multiple requests. This meant everything was paid out of pocket as insurance will not pay without receipt. Go elsewhere, unless you have money and time to burn. read more

While I have had no major issues with over waits etc. the optical shop is a whole other story. Paid in full when I ordered my glasses told one week after a week and a few days I called to see what the status was. Got told I need to be patient they would call. As of this moment it has been exactly 2 weeks and 2 days NO I am not happy tried to call got bumped around and yet again got voice mail with the optical shop. Why bother to leave a message did that 4 times already and have yet to get a reply to that or been told my glasses are ready. Yeah calling my credit card company this afternoon and have them remove that payment since I have not received my glasses. The Dr's here at least the ones I have dealt with very good as to the rest BLAHHH read more

Terrible service. Extreme waits. Almost always it takes nearly an hour before you are seen. I had a quick, post surgery re-check appointment that should have taken ten minutes. Knowing that the wait is always long, I allowed 90 minutes to complete the appointment. After an hour the doctor still had not seen me and I had to leave to get back to work. When I had an annual exam it took three and a half hours to complete. Almost all of that time was spent waiting. I lost an afternoon of my work day to this appointment. When you check in, even if you've been there recently, the reception staff reads all the data about you: birthday, address, phone, insurance - all so loud that people in the waiting room can hear. If you tell them that none of your information has changed and they don't need to read it, they insist and proceed to read it anyway. read more
