I have been using Slaco for at least 3-4 years he repaired & cleaned my original computer. Then I bought one from him 18 months ago and it has performed perfectly and was reasonably priced. Andrew discussed at length with me my requirements and various options for a new computer based on my usage and tech savviness (not great). In all this time with say 4-5 visits to Slaco, Andrew has been the perfect gentleman, and also giving lots of advice in plain language. I don't know what planet the person who gave the bad review is from, but I firmly believe that people who have had a bad experience are far more likely to post a review, and that is another reason why I had to write this review. Definitely one of the dodgier computer stores I've bought from over the decades…read more I bought a new system from them recently, and maybe it's my fault for wanting to save a bit of money, but they cut corners and do a shoddy job. For one thing, they manage to offer the cheapest quality motherboards possible, so i have almost no room to expand my computer later on. The power supply is barely powerful enough for what they installed, with no room to expand further except replacing it with something powerful. The drives were installed haphazardly without proper mounting brackets, in one case screwed in sideways across three drive slots. One of the more egregious problems is that they sell me a board that is only compatible with dual ATI video cards but proceed to install an Nvidia GPU instead. So when i do upgrade the computer, i'm on the hook for buying two video cards anyhow Worst of all, instead of a modern OS, they installed Windows 7 and then "upgraded" it to Windows 10. In the process they somehow managed to mangle the installation and leave fundamental programs unworkable. I literally couldn't even open the Calendar or open the Windows Store on a clean install. If a computer store can't even install Windows correctly, how can i trust them to actually sell a computer. I'm enough of a geek to know how to dig into Windows Powershell and eventually fix the numerous problems, but that is simply not something i should have to do on a brand new computer. I will not be trusting this company with any of my problems in the future.

The store clerk didn't seem to understand what I was asking for; he kept showing me a wrong cable and insisting that it was the right one (it wasn't -- he doesn't seem to understand the difference between a female USB and a male USB, which is not rocket science, and he also didn't understand the difference between a data transfer cable and OTG). It took me five times explaining to him before he actually listened instead of just patronizing me as if I didn't know what I was asking for. I would not come here again unless 1) I wanted someone to talk to me like I was a toddler or 2) I want to talk to someone who ignores all the words coming out of my mouth and just waits his turn to reiterate the same thing based on the first three words I say. I also would never trust a repair job of any technology I cared about to these people -- based on what I observed of their lack of basic expertise and talk-down-to-you bedside manner, Pacific Repair is an excellent candidate for doing 'half-ass repairs because we think you don't have the expertise to know better'. Better value for new components at NCIX, better value on used parts at Free Geek, and better value & peace of mind for repair jobs at the Hackery.

Obviously extremely frustrating. After doing a ton of software things (rebooting, filter keys, internal battery reset...) I deduced that it must've been a hardware issue. After reviewing some DIY videos for my specific model - I realized it was an impossibility to do it myself. So I ordered a generic E5-575 keyboard off Amazon ($40, 2 day shipping with Prime) for expediency. Now, I needed to find a service provider that could execute a complex keyboard change. Search: I called a few nearby shops: some places were reluctant to give me quotas, and others gave vague promises of timeline. I was in a rush - I filtered on Yelp for a shop that was open both Sunday and late - and found this business. I called the number, a lovely woman picked up, and promised me her business partner (the more computer-savvy one as they do a diversified amount of services) would call me back. He did within an hour (they truly are available on a 24h basis!) and we had a few transparent conversations both over the phone and on text that night. Execution: Jon Barber is an extremely reliable, extremely nice, and AWESOME individual to work with. He was willing to pick up and drop off the laptop + keyboard from my residence (although we later met at a halfway point that was convenient for me given my schedule), and gave me a quick turnaround (just 2 hours!). After having picked up my laptop and the keyboard, he worked with his business partner (that had specific expertise regarding this type of change), and even told me that the # of hours that would go into this was more than expected. Do you know how rare this is? They charge per hour and gave me a fair warning to how long it would take (and then we settled on it in the interim) instead of just going ahead and stiffing me with the bill later. Can't have any more good things to say. Come here for anything you need.

I was kind of freaked out as this was my only computer and I have school and work to do on it and I knew from past experiences that it would take at least week to get fixed. I also work 7 days a week and I didn't know when I would be able to get away from work to drop it off somewhere. I got a friend to Google the closest computer repair shops to me and one of the names was Dynaworx. I called and a very friendly man named Jon answered and after I explained to him what I thought happened I asked him his hours and was trying to figure out when I could squeeze away to drop it off. Jon then offered to come by my place to pick up my laptop that night! It was already 10:30pm!! Who does that? I couldn't believe it! I obviously said yes to that agreement! Jon was even nicer in person then on the phone! He explained to me in my language (which is NOT computer tech) what he was going to do and he said he would call me when he found out what was going on. Sure enough the next day I got a call from Jon telling me what viruses I got and how he was fixing them and told me that it would be ready the next day!! I couldn't believe it! I was expecting at least a week to be without a computer. The next day when it was ready Jon once again offered to come by my house to drop off my lap top. He explained to me what went wrong and actually installed three different virus protection scanners for me! I would have had no clue what to do so that was extremely helpful and he gave me an mp3 player! How great is that?! I couldn't believe it, in two days I got my lap top fixed and I didn't have to even go out of my way to drop anything off, I got a free mp3 player and three different virus scanners, it was almost worth getting a virus! Bottom line, Dynaworx has incredible, outstanding, amazing service that you never see now days! They are for sure my new go to Computer Fixers!

Went to all the big box stores and no one had even a universal charger, but I had a good feeling about Kevin's since he's independent and collects EVERYTHING. Walked in on a Wednesday and he had the exact charger I have been looking for for months and only charged $20 for it. Also noticed on his wall that he donates his time to a local Middle School teaching kids how to use and build computers and has won awards from the school for it. Don't let his tiny shop fool you, he has a warehouse just behind the shop front where he keeps all imaginable parts and accessories. Also has 4.7 star rating on Google, I think he just didn't set up his Yelp page. Ignore the 1 star review above, best place to go if you need parts or work done on your computer.

I bought a 2018 MacBook Pro from Tradeamac in March 2020 and within two days the laptop blacked out and would no longer turn on. I called Apple to troubleshoot the issue and they said to bring it to a Certified Apple Technician for assessment. NOTE: I found that TradeaMac isn not an Authorized Apple Repair location. You know a store that sells Apple products isn't legitimate if Apple does not even recommend the store as a place to service/sell an Apple product. I took the computer to a technician at a verified Apple Repair location and they found that the logic board needed replacing and that it had internal water damage dating back to June 2019! They confirmed this by showing the Apple Support history connected to this serial number. I brought the computer back to Tradeamac and I provided them with the Apple report regarding the 2019 water damage and TradeaMac's owner took NO RESPONSIBILITY, put the blame on me saying that I or the Apple Technician I brought it to caused the damage and would not refund me my $1,600 for this computer, when the water damage existed prior to the sale! This was possibly the worst purchasing decision I could have made. TradeaMac sold me a faulty computer and should have their business license taken away from them.
