I had a really bad experience here, so this is a vent-type review. I had a high fever caused by an ear infection, and went because it was closest to my house. After waiting for about forty minutes in their un-airconditioned waiting area, my boyfriend went to ask them about how much longer, and they told me they'd had a problem reaching my insurance company and were 'waiting for a callback' The delay turned out to be because the company's name and number varies from state to state, and they'd called the wrong one. After this was made clear, it took another hour to see the doctor because I'd been pushed to the back of the queue. I wasn't given the heath history paperwork to fill out until I was led back, so when the doctor arrived I hadn't completed it yet. He told me, "It's OK, you can finish it later." Really? Isn't that information you need? He prescribed me antibiotics, but mispelled my name so horribly that the pharmacist wouldn't let me use my insurance card to pay for them. We had to call the insurance company from the pharmacy. Although I have excellent insurance, I was billed later for a lab test from my throat that I didn't know I'd be billed for - they contract with a weird lab that many plans don't cover. Yuck. This place gets a pity star because I did not contract a new disease while actually inside the walls. It's conveniently located and my guess is that it stays in business because of urgent occupational injuries and medicare. read more

I'm guessing that only people with bad experiences have rated this place. My experience was that people were professional and as-expected, for what it is. They had Karate Kid 3 playing, so that was a plus. They were kind enough people. read more

I went in to get a work mandated physical, made an appointment several days in advance for 3:00, arrived at 2:50, then wasn't seen until 3:45. As a result, I missed a very important class. While the employees were polite in conducting the physical, the time management was positively atrocious. read more

Dr Wagner gave me a work note with stringent restrictions because I'm fresh out of surgery on both wrist, took it to my employer, they reviewed it, didn't like the restrictions I was given, so my employer called US Healthworks in Berkeley ca, and told them to change the restrictions in such that will say I'm totally heeled and ready to work, now how the hell I receive a work note one day saying I'm on strict restrictions then with one phone call from my employer they convinced Dr Hsieh to send me back to work the very next day with NO restrictions! This is a review on Dr. Hsieh, Jing the "hand specialist" who comes in once a month on a Wednesday, in the morning and is gone by early afternoon. Her appointments are 6 minutes long, and scheduled back to back to back. My appointment time was 9:54 am or something and I was not called in until way later. I had to wait about 1.25 hours until she came in the room. She looked me up and down, said that the type of physical labor is not for someone with my small body frame so she said I should quit. Yes, a doctor said, "You're basically going to go back to work and re-injure yourself so, I highly recommend that you quit your job." I was shocked and all I could muster was, "Am I going to get better?" She confirms that I will, then sends me out with my report that she's going to put me on full duty (not even light duty, which I can't even do) the very next day. During that whole 6 minute appointment with her, she didn't touch my injury ONCE. Needless to say, I felt very distraught and defeated. I sat in my car and cried. I gave the report to my work and cried there. Luckily, I read the papers that I get from worker's compensation and so I switched to a professional, a real hand specialist and he's treating me well. He actually CARES. The staff here are fine (overworked and understaffed), the nurses are too. The Physician's Assistant is a bit cold. The main Dr. is a bit aloof but is a bit warmer than the PA. The waits are all generally very LONG, even if you have an appointment. It's basically, whoever walks in the door first, is the next number in line. I've waited 2.5 hours before when at the end of the day, they saw like 200+ patients. They have vending machines in the waiting room. There's a Berkeley Bowl that's a block away that you can go to if you're hungry, just check-in then walk over. They have vending machines in the waiting room. Basically, if you have another choice to go somewhere else, you should. Just don't pick Greater Richmond Industrial Medical Clinic (see my review for more detail) either. read more

The worst medical facility I've ever been in. Took my partner due to vertigo symptoms. First: it comes up for "emergency room" on Yelp but is NOT an ER. Second: in the room, started to vomit. I asked for a towel. They said they only had paper towels. Third: our Doctor Wagner was completely disheveled. He had to pull up his pants and tuck in his shirt when he arrived. His belt wasn't even looped correctly. He looked at his vitals, which were written on a POST IT note. Fourth: he recommended we go to an ER and directed us to a facility that did NOT have an ER. So we ended up driving to our third facility at Alta bates. Go to Alta Bates if you have an emergency . Do not go to this place. read more

I have been treated at this facility many times over the past year for a work related injury. They're barely able to keep the wheels on, meaning it's hit or miss. I don't think the level of care is great and you have to basically stay on top of all the administrative tasks or they won't be completed. They are too busy to keep up and it's definitely reflected in the level of care and the completeness of care. They're running in "overwhelm" mode as a constant. The only department that defies this is the PT department where they seem to be somewhat 'on top of' what's going on. read more

Just on hold for 20 minutes. The receptionist kept picking up and asking who I was and putting me back on hold, then picking up like I was a new caller. I have an RSI injury and they do not take appts. Only walk-ins, which doesn't work when they also take Urgent Care. They seemed confused, and unsure what to do with a new patient. They are on my short list of workman's comp facilities so I guess I try the next one that also has terrible reviews on yelp. read more

Horrible management. Rude staff. No one answers the phone. Expect to wait 2 hours for an appointment that will last 5-10 minutes.

This place is great! I'm sad to read the other reviews. I arrived right when they opened, and I received care within a half hour. While I was waiting, they were playing some awful movie with Cameron Diaz that was great entertainment. The care I received was great, because everyone was kind and attentive. I have to see a physical therapist through them, now, and I'm totally looking forward to my next visit. read more

Don't Go Here for Urgent Care! I went here for urgent care, very sick and suspecting I might have pneumonia. I signed in at 8 am and sat down. I quickly noticed I was the only sick person in the waiting room--the rest were workers sent by their employer for phys. exams, drug tests, etc. I watched patients who were there before me get called in, then those who came in *after* me started getting called. At 9am (1 hr since sign in), I cordially checked with the receptionist. She rudely and defensively told me she was very busy and hadn't registered me into their system yet, and basically threw up her hands about when she would ever be able to get to it. I felt for her--this one receptionist was juggling answering phones, checking in/registering/confirming insurance, and checking out patients post-appt. By 10am (2 hrs since sign in), I realized I could be waiting all day. I calmly let the receptionist know that I was leaving and all I got was an "uh huh." Bottom line: US Healthworks is understaffed, has terrible customer service, and the medical staff walking around looked like they wouldn't be hired anywhere else but this horrible facility. And the fact that their reviews are awful (I wish I'd checked yelp before going), yet they haven't made changes, indicates US Healthworks doesn't give a damn about their quality of service. I read these reviews after deciding to come here. I was really worried, but my experience ended up being good. I was a mid-day walk-in. The waiting room only had a couple of other people in it. None of us were there for urgent care. I filled out paperwork and was seen within 20 minutes more or less. The office where I had my appointment was clean and methods for taking my temp and blood pressure were fully automated. I was in and out in about an hour. Pretty impressive for a mid-day walk-in. Not sure what's typical and it was raining, but I'm not worried about returning. read more

The admitting Staff was so helpful, Issac in Radiology is incredible and Dr Jane is a model of compassion and a credit to the Medical Profession. Don't go here if you care about your life... I had a TB skin test here and I was told it was negative. I found out later they didn't even follow protocol. They are supposed to mark both sides of the bump created by the TB skin test and measure it with a ruler. However, all they did here was feel the bump with their finger tips. Later on I saw my normal primary care provider for another reason, she immediately noticed the bruise left over from my TB skin test, and told me that I most definitely have a positive TB test if there is still a bump that size a week and a half later. Now I have to go get my self tested for TB again.., read more

Go somewhere else!! Especially if you have insurance. I waited for nearly an hour before they could even confirm that they took my insurance. At the end of four hours I had finally seen a doctor who maybe strung together a few sentences-none helpful-and exited before I could ask any questions. I came in for a pre employment physical on a Thursday and I wish this wasn't the place my employer chose. The wait was horrible. The nurse reading the ph strip had to get help from someone else to read it. This was the largest of many unprofessional actions throughout the visit. The doctor called me a few hours later and left a voicemail about a form I forgot to fill out, which the nurses didn't check. I had to call back repeatedly until the next day when I reached the doctor. It took ten seconds to answer the questions. Then they finally faxed over my form. If I hadn't kept calling would the paperwork issue have been cleared before I started working Monday? read more

This is NOT an urgent care clinic. It is an occupational medicine facility - drug screens & workman's comp injuries. Don't know who would recommend it otherwise. Their customers are BUSINESSES, not individual walk-ins. People who belong here (read: referred by their employer) have appointments and are seen on time. They are nice enough to take direct pay walk-ins but do you seriously not expect to wait for hours when they have a full schedule and don't know you are coming? Go to a hospital if you need one. I have been a patient and received excellent care here. I highly recommend the Physical Therapy staff, Alex and Gina. I just hate to see good people and places maligned. If you took half the time to find a proper care facility that you did to whine about it on yelp, you would have gone to the right place. read more

Even with an appointment they make you wait a very long time. I started seeing the hand specialist for carpal tunnel, and I can honestly say that my grandma's home remedies are more helpful than anything this doctor has suggested so far. The last time I saw her she rushed me out of the room and her conclusion was that it would go away on its own. I asked her to reauthorize acupuncture and she said no because it was going to go away on its own. Well, it has been 2 years and still dealing with it. I barely sleep at night from the swelling and discomfort, I struggle at work to get through all my paperwork, and I carry around a tube of arnica cream everywhere I go and I have not been back to this place. I lost hope. My regular doctor refuses to treat me because she says it's a work related injury. I really should contact the insurance company and get a different clinic. I really should do something to hold them accountable for shitty and inadequate care. read more

This morning I was some what suprised not to have the scheduled appointment with the M.D that went on a vacation without notifying his patients prior to leaving. When I had returned to U S Health Works I specifically asked to be seen by the M.D because of the severity of the injuries that I had . I was visited by a PA-C who at that time told me that I did not need to come to U S Health Works. My only question to U S Health Works is "If you are not in the Health Care Industry" What Industry are you in? Be it known I never have written complaints about anything let alone any one medical professional. I am sorry to say that what took place today was very shocking and really makes U S Health Works look "BAD"! This incident took place in Federal Way,Washington. I don't think I have ever had a worse experience at a doctor's office. This place does not even have a real thermometer to take someone's temp, they use a disposable strip! But more on that later. I went to this place because it takes my insurance and it was in Berkeley where I live. I got there 5 minutes after it opened and was the second person there. After 45 minutes and 4 patients being seen ahead of me, I asked the office staff how long it will be. "Oh, I'm just putting together your chart, so it shouldn't be too much longer." Obviously urgent means nothing to these people. Going in I knew what my problem was and I simply needed medication. I had a sun exposure rash due to my lupus, which I have had 8 times before and it always happens the same way. The PA I saw didn't like how I already knew what was wrong and what treatments were effective in the past. She yelled at me for not having a primary care physician (I just moved here and just switched insurances), she yelled at me for not having my doctor from back home prescribe me medicine "just in case" (right, I know so many doctors who do that), and she yelled at me for not giving complete information about things that happened to me as a kid and were completely irrelevant to the current problem. She refused to give me the medication I requested and instead gave me a medrol pack that has been completely ineffective in the past. I'm not sure who abuses prednisone but with the horrific rash on my legs, I'm pretty sure I wasn't drug seeking. And they did not give me any meds to help with the itching. Long story short, I had to go to suffer in misery while using the ineffective medication. I went to a walk-in in Livermore 5 days later (and was seen within 5 minutes of arrival) and the doctor there laughed at what had been prescribed previously. I started on 40mg of prednisone yesterday and the rash has almost completely stopped irritating me. He also gave me medication for itching that is helping me get a full night sleep. I feel sorry for anyone who finds US Healthworks as their only choice for care. Expect it to be substandard at every level. If you really feel like your need is urgent or acute, you'd probably be better served at an ER. read more

The two physical therapists Alex and Gina are awesome and so is their staff person, but the rest of the staff plus the doctors/"specialists" are horrible. 0 stars for the staff and 1 star for PT. Unfortunately you may have a hard time getting in for PT because the doctor's staff will routinely screw up your appointment, make you wait 1 hour plus just to see the doctor, and then forget to fax forms to your HR department or to your insurance company. Once I waited 45 minutes in the waiting room (and this was after they TOLD me to walk in at 8 AM) and then another 45 in the exam room. And then another 20 minutes IN A GOWN. I am not making this up. The main doctor is totally incompetent. Once he brought in somebody else's file and started asking me about my back. I had to convince him that I was not that person. Every visit was a waste of time, he just asks the same questions and gives a cursory tap on whatever part is ailing you. When I once dared to suggest that the turnaround time was sub-par he stormed out of the exam room. Guess that was the end of that session. I and 2 other people I know had the same horrible experiences here, which is not what you want when you are in pain and just want to try to get better. Thank god my office finally couldn't take it anymore and transferred us to Kaiser, where the PT department is amazingly quick and competent (yes, at Kaiser! I was stunned too!) and I was discharged with a tailored-to-me get-well plan within a month. I recommend doing the same to anyone. If you get sent to US Healthworst through worker's comp, remember that you can switch to any provider of your choice after 30 days. The way they do things, you'll probably still be waiting for your first visit by then. read more

Do yourself a favor and DO NOT bother making an appointment here, unless wait times longer than ER visits seem like a fun way to spend the afternoon. I made an appointment for a regular checkup as an admission requirement for a school. All I needed was a couple forms checked and signed and literally waited over 1.5 hours! In fact, I'm still waiting! Haven't seen the doctor yet and this is WITH an appointment. They make you pay up front otherwise I would have walked out 45 minutes ago and found an actual private care physician that could actually keep an appointment time. read more

This company, which was supposed to be on my insurance's PPO list, ran me around for half a day to get an appointment for post-operative physical therapy (first, called for an appointment. then, had to scan and send or fax my insurance card. then, an email requesting I send my birthdatte--couldn't they have asked for that with the card? on the same page, maybe??), and at the end of the to-ing and fro-ing, they called and told me they are NOT on my insurer's PPO list, but I could pay them to see me. Now the VERY FIRST thing that I mentioned when I called the VERY FIRST time was that I was calling because they were on the Cigna list. They could have told me they weren't before wasting my time, but they didn't. I actually feel LUCKY to not be going there. read more

Several people in my office had problems with this Health Works when it came to drawing blood. after major problems, we had to come back and do it again for one reason or the other after them loosing blood vials, letting them expire, poking and prodding, brusing...They had the needle in my arm for more than a few minutes after trying twice in the other arm (HORRIBLE) a bunch of monkeys. DO NOT LET THEM STICK A NEEDLE IN YOU. We forced them to set up a contractor to draw our blood the second time "licensed flabodamist" We ended up going to QUEST DIAGNOSTICS in Pleasant Hill and it was effortless here, nearly painless and extremenly quick. I must say the staff at U.S. healthworks have more taken care of me. They are very friendly and I know almost everyone by first name basis. Such as Maria, Sagourney, and many more, not just a bunch of clones. They genuinely care about my condition. I must admit that when my company set me up to see their doctors, I was concerned. Phys. asst. Jane Gardner and Dr.Mirza has treated me with respect and are truly concerned about my health now and the affects of my future. I felt extremely comfortable in asking Jane personal questions and she has made this uphill battle less frustrating and I am grateful for her assistance. Specialist. Dr.Mirza has went out of his way to make sure that i get the treatment needed to help my situation, giving me a clear understanding of my condition, the dude is good. PT(alex) staff is great and accupuncturist(mike) has been excellent. Though, I am still a work in progess, I have faith that their efforts will pay off. I have dealt with this location many times before, "not by choice" and it never seems to fail to "disappoint me". Worse customer service, workers here never answers their phone gracefully, you can never understand them when they introduce themselves. They do not explain what they are going to do before they place you on hold for 10-15 minutes without giving an update. Spoke with someone specific, a man named "Will", before I could even tell him exactly what I needed, he puts me on hold, never checked back with me for a quick "hey just so you know I haven't forgotten about you", instead I called again just to be nice and tell him nevermind the request, I will find another way to get answers. He had the nerve to tell me that it was not his job to provide me what I was asking for. In my opinion, only if you had listened to my request the first time "Will" and let me know that you will find somebody else to help me, I would have appreciated it more instead of you putting me on hold for the longest time and act with extreme rudeness afterwards".... next time be sincere and be kind to your customers over the phone, because you never know who you have got on the other line. I have received contradictory and inconsistent medical care there. Oddly, the doctors don't volunteer any important information like a diagnosis or prognosis. If you, as a patient, are not quick to catch them before they unexpectedly exit the room while you're in mid-question, you have to wait until the next visit to try to cram in your accumulating concerns.... before the doctor hastily walks out of the room while you're in mid-question and/or mid-thought. My medical condition has not allowed for a good night's rest in months and the last doctor I visited at USHW actually insulted me by comparing my attention span to her 17 year old son (poor child?); I caught this doctor writing down incorrect information in my file; and I left feeling abused, battered, and confused, as if I had just encountered an irreverent mother-in-law, instead of a health-care professional. On top of all of that, this doctor's diagnosis is contrary to four other MDs I have visited with. Under the US Patient's Bill of Rights, we are guaranteed certain information that the employees at USHW either pretend not to know about, or simply don't know. Under the US Patient's Bill of Rights, patients should be informed, upon request, if doctors are receiving any incentives to minimize health care -- when I inquired about this, the USHW staff did not answer me. I highly recommend anyone needing or seeking medical care to become aware of the US Patient's Bill of Rights and the Hippocratic Oath. As Americans we have certain rights that don't mean anything if we do not know them and do not act upon them. read more

This place is HORRIBLE!!!! I think Highland Hospital has shorter wait times than this place!!! I finally had someone see me for a couple of shots I needed, and one if the ladies tell me that I don't need a Varicella titer shot because I did it in March! They lost my paperwork, so that's why I'm not finding this out until MAY!!!! The burse was unable to find my vein before inserting the needle. When she went to ask for help, she came and told that she was instructed to "just try it and see what happens." Lucky for me she had steady hands, and used a butterfly needle. She had to move the needle around IN MY ARM TO FIND THE VEIN!!!! After having that and a tb skin test, I come back today and they tell me now that in 6. Hours early and have to return in the afternoon (tf?) . Why wasn't I informed about this the day I got the shot??!!! They're slow, unprofessional, timid, and seem a little "spaced out"... Can't wait til I'm done with this place..UGH!!!! read more
