Was in Philly for the night at a somewhat close hotel, out walking, saw Con Murphy's and decided to give it a try. Atmosphere felt pub like. There is an upstairs, outside and main floor inside. The service was friendly, efficient and reasonably timely. The fish and chips were a good portion, well fried with flaky fish and very tasty complete with wine vinegar. Guiness and the layered Blacksmith were just right.

I liked it here. It's a homey feel that you can walk into any time of the day and feel welcome. The staff are friendly and gave a great descriptions of their menu items. I got the fish sandwich. It was a hearty plate and I had plenty for later. Also pictued is the french toast, my friend was excitingly satifsfied. I also got an Irish coffee, which was a perfect finish to a fun brunch. In Philly for just a day, this place knows how to make passersby feel confident turning a random choice into a good decision.

Decided to go to Con Murphy's for Happy Hour with some friends. It was busy, so I was happy that we made reservations. It was loud inside-it was almost like a bar-vibe. Once seated, I immediately ordered because I wanted to make it to Philly's Christmas Village before it was too late. Started out with the cheesesteak egg rolls. They were crispy, and the steak was well seasoned. It's served with sriracha aioli. I wasn't I fan of it, so I opted for ketchup instead. 5/5 Next were the loaded Nachos. I added the braised short ribs for an additional $7, and it was well worth it. VERY GOOD. 5/5 Nope, I'm not done yet. Next up were the blackened fish tacos. These were superb. Seasoned to perfection. All of the toppings blended well together. The fish was juicy, fresh, and tender. 5/5 Don't be upset, but I had the nerve to get both the elote street corn and the honey chili chicken flat breads, and they did not disappoint. They were thin and crispy and already cut and easy to pull apart. I want to tell you how they both tasted, but you'd be reading for a while. So I'll just say this; "Both are a must try. " 5/5 Next up, was the homemade spinach gnocchi. I thought it would be sooo good, but it lacked flavor. The sauce wasn't good to me. The dumplings were doughy and also didn't have any flavor. This was my least favorite dish. 1/5 I also had the linguini Alfredo with herbed cream sauce with blackened shrimp. 5/5 For dessert, I had the dolce banana bread pudding with sweet whisky sauce and a scoop of vanilla icecream. Thumbs down on that one. 1/5 The Brownie À la mode with icecream was VERY good, although it didn't have nuts. It was warm, moist, and not over chocolatey 5/5 Yes, I know you're wondering if I made it to the Christmas Village after all of this food--HELL YEAH I did! Til we eat again....

We opted to go here as it was the in house restaurant of our hotel. We were seated immediately on a weekday evening. We opted the outdoor seating for some fresh air. I chose a non-alcoholic drink which they did not have on the menu and the waitress recommended a mule drink to be only option which would taste good without alcohol. The drink was fine--perhaps not crafted to perfection, but they did the job and paired well with the friendly, laid-back atmosphere. We ordered wings and pasta . They were both delivered warm. It was good but not exceptional. Quantity wise it was good for 2 people. To me it may not top my "must-eat" list, but it earns a spot for chill evenings and solid company.

While in town at a work conference, we decided to try and find a place to have some drinks. About a block away from our hotel was Con Murphy's. We had eaten already so drinks it was. Early evening was not too packed and there were many TVs playing differnet sports on them. Service was solid. The food on the adjacent tales looked very appetizing. Insise were two floors, essentially a bar area and seating upstairs. I did not get up there to take a look. Cool spot.

Excellent stop in Philadelphia for a good cheesesteak, a great selection of beers and a top notch service in a nice vibe pub. Centrally located to walk to city hall and other attractions. Highly recommend.

We were staying at the Windsor so it was super convenient. We ate here multiple times because well it was good! Brunch I had a chorizo potato frittata--- wow it was great!! Lunch one day had the grouper sandwich --also delicious I don't think you can go wrong with anything Service was good depending on busyness which is understandable. We were in no rush so it was fine

Definitely a fan of this spot! Great for dinner or a drink out! The vibe is really fun, and the two story restaurant makes it not feel too cramped even when it's crowded! The drinks were really good - loved the festive holiday cocktail options. I also had the truffle fries and Mac & Cheese and both we delish! A great casual spot in center city!

What an amazing surprise!!! I came to Philly due to a conference and we had a couple of hours to "kill" before the conference started and on our way from the parking lot to the conference, we stumbled into this place, very low key, in a very busy street corner... EVERYTHING IS PERFECT HERE!! Portions were big, well priced dishes, service was friendly and inviting.. great atmosphere.. it was SO GOOD... we had to come AGAIN!! the conference ended at 5 pm and instead of heading back home (2hrs one way without traffic) we couldn't help it but get our a$$es back here for appetizers and drinks... this is a true Philly gem! If you are in the Philly downtown area PLEASE COME HERE!!! Thank me later!! Special shout-out to Michael T (my brunch waiter) and Conor M (the afternoon waiter).. LOVE LOVE LOVE

Came here with a group of friends for brunch and we left feeling disappointed. When we arrived, the hostesses told us there was no seating inside and to check the upstairs bar for spots (there were none). We decided to sit outside since there was a heater, but honestly we were still freezing so I wouldn't recommend the outdoor seating if it's cold. We ordered the Murphy fries and Parmesan truffle fries for the table and honestly the fries were the best thing we had there. The other food was not good. I ordered the avocado toast with eggs and they very clearly burnt my toast and just covered it up anyway with the toppings. Additionally, none of my food was seasoned and it was just very bland. My friend found a hair in his food. No one at my table seemed to enjoy their meals and we unfortunately left a lot of food unfinished. Service was okay; our waitress was good but the hostesses werent very nice. The wait times were long. On top of just not having a good dining experience, they add on 20% gratuity automatically so watch out for that. Overall I probably wouldn't come back here for food.

Pivoted from another restaurant on the Parkway and made a last minute resys for Con Murphy's on a stormy Spring Saturday. Best decision ever!! It was a true vibe. I love warm welcomes and friendly faces when I walk into an establishment and that's exactly what I was greeted with at this Irish Pub. The hostess and our waiter Bill were both outstanding! What We Toasted With: Victory Prima Pils - Downingtown, PA (5.3%) (5/5) Espresso Martini (5/5) Hot Toddy - Perfect on a soggy Saturday (5/5) Irish Coffee - Also a perfect pick me up (5/5) What We Ate: Cheesesteak Eggrolls w/Sriracha Aioli - These were lacking a bit of flavor and just okay. (3/5) Brioche French Toast - w/Applewood Smoked Bacon and a side of strawberry compote and maple syrup. Absolutely delicious! (5/5) Salmon Benedict - 2 poached eggs, seared salmon filet, tomato and sautéed spinach on an English muffin, hollandaise and breakfast potatoes. Another winner! (5/5) Blackend Grouper Sandwich - seared grouper filet, lettuce, tomato, red onion, Chipotle mayo and a Brioche bun. Another homerun! (5/5) The food was fresh, hot and plentiful. When you're stuffed and get home then remember you meant to order dessert...just means you MUST plan a return visit lol. There's truly no other option!

Snickerdoodle Martini -- Tito's Vodka, Amaretto, Bailey's Irish Cream, Half & Half, Cinnamon
    Candi R.

My family and I went to Con Murphy's for Center City Restaurant Week. The only person that ended up eating from the CCD Restaurant Week menu was my stepmother. I ordered: -- Snickerdoodle Martini -- Tito's Vodka, Amaretto, Bailey's Irish Cream, Half & Half, Cinnamon -- Coca Cola | Lemonade -- Bavarian Pretzel Sticks -- Grainy Mustard, Cheese Sauce -- Cheesesteak Egg Rolls, Sriracha Aioli -- Caesar Salad (Small) -- Romaine, Parmesan,Croutons, Caesar dressing Everything I ordered was tasty and well seasoned. The pretzels were freshly toasted. The salad was fresh. The meat in the cheesesteak egg rolls were nicely seasoned. The service was nice. Our waitress was attentive, yet didn't hover. She made great recommendations and kept our drinks refilled. The restaurant was as loud to be expected for a Sports Bar?!? I'm quite sure it would be louder when a game is being played. I really think we may return at some point.

Woo child!! To be young again!…read more it's my sister's annual birthday week and we finished the night off after walking philly for what felt like 2 hours (25 minutes) and stumbled upon this club! the bouncers at the door were hella friendly (thanks billy) and the security inside kept a tight room. we joined in upon like 4 birthday parties and a full bottle service. needless to say the shots being poured were plentiful. Thank you to the really nice bartender in the orange hat (also a millennial) who grasps the concept of 'it's so loud in here' like it's not a nightclub. anyway the prices of the drinks were great. Some new items on the menu so I figured I would go through a new review:…read more Carrot Soup: This replaces their old root vegetable soup, and they thankfully kept it vegetarian. It was much better than their root vegetable soup, and I was quite fond of that soup. It's honestly nothing like anything else on the menu. It has an indian? maybe? taste to it. It's so good. there is these juicy white raisins inside, some sliced almonds (not treenut friendly), and some sort of white yogurt sauce with micro greens. really a fantastic flavor pallet and the actual soup texture is smooth minus the toppings. Cashew Hummus: okay so here's my thing. I find that this restaurant in particular does such a disservice with their menu item descriptions. Based off of the description of this dish, I would think it's probably decent at best, and might not even order it. luckily I had a sixth sense to know this would be amazing. it's truly so good. it's a hummus layer topped with a bunch of seasoned roasted vegetables and chickpeas. The flavors are great and the textures are also great. I wouldn't have known it was cashew hummus if you didn't tell me. it's honestly not that large, so if you really like vegtables and hummus i'd get your own or split with only one person. if everyone is demure, it could go four ways. also! I don't think it comes with bread. it didn't come with bread this recent visit, but I am not sure if that was a mistake or that's how it is. But, to be safe, i'd save your bread you get at the begining to use for this. this is a must get every time I go. Dandelion salad: I only order this for my welsh rarebit. I like to eat my welsh rarebit with some of the salad since the acid cuts the fatty cheese. but, I will say, it's a very good salad. my favorite part is the thinly sliced celery pieces. it has a bunch of varying greens, celery, avocado, cucumber. all dressed in a lemony dressing. it's very simplistic and that's why I think it's so good. it's quite large, and would be a great "for the table" order so that everyone has some fresh bites with their rich entrees. Welsh Rarebit: my favorite. if you don't know what welsh rarebit is, it's basically fancy cheese toast. think proper fondue cheese with Worcestershire, mustard, maybe guinness, melted on a thick piece of toast. so an open faced fancy grilled cheese. it's two big slices of toast. could easily be shared for the table but I prefer my own order. if you get this I recommend also getting the dandelion salad and eating them together. Chocolate Set: I haven't tried their other desserts, but I just know they are a waste of time compared to this. the chocolate set is a dense chocolate mousse with earl gray ice cream, chocolate nibs, and a few orange slices. it's so simple but so so good. texturally, amazing. the smoothness of the mousse with the crunchy nibs is the perfect contrast. the orange is bright, the ice cream is just great on its own and does so well paired with everything else. it can be shared 4 ways if you have demure people. my family of four just orders two and we get half each. that works for us, we would never be able to share one. all in all great service as always, great food, and obviously a gorgeous interior.

The fish and chips were pretty good too - among the better ones Inhave tried. Cute spot with nice decorations. Would be great for a date or small groups.
