I often cringe at the thought of some gluten free food I have had, because I'm lucky and can eat "the real thing". That said, there are places that you stumble across, like Edible Options, that really do a great job. This was our first time there. We had a Boston Creme donut, a vanilla glazed(I think), a French Cruller, and a cupcake. The cupcake and French Cruller were great, just as good as a traditional bakery that has solid standards. The donuts were pretty good overall, but they tasted like the oil needed to be changed, or they were just slightly overcooked. Either way, they were better than 90% of the donuts I have tried up to this point, so I still see it as a win. Service was good, but I did feel a little pressured to rush. I know it's a busy place, but since we aren't regulars we had a couple of questions. I don't feel like we took a lot of time, but that underlying push to keep it moving was there. We'll be back when we are in the area, my sweets loving girlfriend will be sure of it.

I was really let down when I purchased a celebratory cake. The red velvet cake was decent in and…read moreof itself, however the topping and filling were terrible. Since the topping was too sugary, the majority of the party attendees--including the children--swiped it off ( and there was alot of it!). You would assume that a bakery with a health-conscious focus would offer a topping other than water and pure icing sugar. A vegan cream cheese substitute, or whipped vegan butter, could be added? Pure icing sugar, water, and a barely detectable raspberry flavouring made up the filling. The cost would undoubtedly cover some vegan substitutes. This is a good option if you enjoy sugar; if not, go somewhere else.

We stopped by RPM for some morning pastries and got the apricot Danish, savoury Danish, butter…read morecroissant, coffees and a sourdough to bring home. The line moves fairly quickly and there's a good amount of indoor and outdoor seating. I enjoyed the savoury danish the most which had layers of flavour from the different elements and a good pastry to filling ratio, whereas the apricot Danish felt like there was not enough pastry cream which was also lacking in the lemon thyme flavour. The butter croissant looked like it was shaped a bit off but the flavour and structure was good. Lastly, the sourdough we got was quite dark and pushing the edge of being burnt for my own taste. The space is clean and pretty, and service is efficient.

It was a warm day and I really wanted to try their green smoothie (without the banana). Despite being initially apprehensive about eliminating the "binder" in the smoothie that is banana, the lovely young man helping me was able to make the perfect smoothie without it being "slushy!" Thank you! It was delicious. Hit #1. I also tried their house made Montreal-style sesame bagel with cream cheese. Crispy outside and warm, chewy inside with a generous amount of cream cheese! Hit #2. Looks like they have a lot of beautiful baked goods to try on my next outing as well! Pro tip: they make Gluten free options!
