I sent them ALL the documents they asked for. 2 weeks later I get an email asking for some details that were on the paperwork I already sent them. So, I sent them the details AGAIN. 2 days later I get a letter telling me they need a document, which they hadn't asked for previously, and sent me back a document, saying I hadn't signed it - my signature IS clearly on this document. So, I rang them and after spending ages on the phone, they won't budge on their stance and won't process this for me. I am furious!!! read more

On a scale of 1 to 10 Computershare is a minus 50!!! They lost 481 shares of Verizon in a transfer from deceased relative to my wife. Twice customer service have requested "the back office" to find, that was months ago. Volumes of paper work to get anything changed all requiring a bank medallion. read more

First like 5 ppl told me it'd be 3 days, and my account would be available for me to manage in 3 days, then I called back and was told by someone different that all those ppl had been mistaken and that it's 3-5 days..no apology, no taking accountability for all the misinformation..so I called back when she said that it'd be ready..it's still not ready! The person on Friday told me to call back Monday and that it should be ready..its still not..then I asked to speak to a supervisor...after waiting an eternity..no supervisor..I was told a supervisor would call me today..still waiting..the misinformation, the lack of communication..horrible! read more

Absolutly horrible! I was transfering shares from a 401k to a private brokarage. The 401k holder (Empower Retirement) used Computershare as a transfer agent. Computershare then did not complete the transfer. Then they required me to request the tranfer and provide a medalian gaurantree stamp (at a cost of £300 - about $410), thus holding my stock hostage in the meantime! Further, they would give me no information about my account prior to receiving the medalian stamp. read more

Impossible to move shares from my company 401K (I left in 2018) to my IRA at large private brokerage. One form after another after another after another.... I needed a PIN and even when I got the PIN through snail mail I still couldn't access my account. Only the institution getting the shares would have the right to log in... after filling out forms... one after another after another. My financial advisor gave up. He told me to ask them to sell the shares and cut me a check. I'll do that tomorrow but already my stomach is in knots and my nerves are shot knowing--- just KNOWING the hoops Computershare will insist I jump through! SO frustrating. Oh-- and my mother with late stage dementia has shares of stock I'm trying to move as POA and jt. tenant. They want govt. issued ID with her photo and recent address. She never updated her ID when she moved to CA from NY 9 years ago--- the beginnings of dementia. I didn't know this. She doesn't have a driver's license or passport or anything current. I feel like I have zero control over the stock I worked hard to obtain (through the 401K account) and zero control over my mother/my stock. Awful company. Just. Plain. AWFUL. read more

ComputerShare is an awful company to do business with. It acts like a company that just gets hired by other companies to manage their employee stock programs. What I mean by that is that if you hold stock through them, you are NOT their customer. You are a resource to be exploited and monetized as aggressively as possible, If you find yourself in that position, the best thing you can do is get your shares into the custody of a better company ASAP. But ComputerShare makes it as difficult as possible to get your shares out. The tactics they use are only legal because they haven't been outlawed yet. They are trying to charge my father-in-law $2000 just to transfer his stocks out of their system and into another brokerage. Their excuse? He can't find a physical stock certificate that Boeing issued to him in the 1960s. They admitted that this fee is not a regulatory requirement, it's just how they make money. Signed up today, as required by a company I own shares in. The security question for immediate access to my account: In what state does (my daughter's name) live in? I was given several choices, none of which was the state in which she's lived FOR THREE YEARS, so I selected "none of the above or I don't know this person". Sadly, Computershare's information is wildly out of date and I have to wait up to two weeks to see if its information regarding my account is more accurate than its outdated security system. read more

Just reiterating what the other dissatisfied shareholders said: it is a nearly impossible to cash out your shares of stock with this company. I am doing the same thing on behalf of my father with some of his other investments, and usually it can be done over the phone. Computershare requires a paper copy as proof of the stock issuance - which I don't think we ever received - and offers a "gold medallion" service or work around for $50 or $100 for authorization services, which is bogus. I wouldn't be surprised if this is more of a Ponzi scheme than a company. I wouldn't pay a dollar for their stock and wouldn't want it in my portfolio if it was free. read more

This website is terrible. It's impossible to log in. I tried logging in with the security questions I had JUST set up and it wouldn't let me in. Then it told me I needed to get a personal access code for full transactional access, which they had to mail me. When the form finally came and I tried logging in, it said my security question was wrong and it locked my account, which I've learned is going to be locked for 24 hours. I need tax forms and this has prevented me from doing my taxes for almost a month now. read more

I sold shares of some stock that I had. Computershare was supposed to mail the funds to me via check. I couple of weeks go by and I had not received the check. I reached out to them and they cut another check and mailed it to me. I never received the second check. I called them and requested that they just wire transfer the funds to my account. Computershare charged me for a wire transfer, and a week later I still had not received the funds. When I called Computershare, I got so many conflicting answers to my questions. It was like no one there knew what the heck they were doing. An ACH is same business or next. A domestic wire transfer is same day or within 24 hours. An international wire transfer is within 3-5 business days. It's been a week and I'm still waiting on the "wire transfer" that I paid for. read more

I agree with the comments made by other dissatisfied customers. My mother bought me shares of Footlocker through computer share; both of our names are on the account. I've been getting tax statements for years, so they have all my information. Sadly, she passed away and I am trying to have the account transferred to my name - my financial adviser gave me a form to fill out, and I thought it would be simple, as it was with another stock held by a different company. Instead, they demanded a copy of the original stock certificate, which was apparently issued decades ago to my Mom. I told the agent that in all likelihood it was lost when her house was cleaned out after her death. They informed me I would have to fill out a form to order a duplicate, at a cost of $80 plus 3% of the value of the account! Then they told me that they would need a copy of my birth certificate. If you can avoid it, DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH COMPUTERSHARE. They are a greedy, anti-consumer outfit. read more

I have never dealt with any financial institution having such little regard for my situation....that is saying a lot. Try it for yourself, contact any form of CS support 3 times and you will get 3 different answers. The only constant is that you will leave empty handed and disappointed. Agent was supposed to send an account statement after I transferred my shares from Computershare to other financial institute. I still didn't receive and the financial institution return back all of shares to Computershare again. to re-transfer again, I must pay $78 again. It took me almost 2 years, $100 in fees and $300 in attorney charges to cash out $500 worth of stocks held by Computershare. We needed to replace my mother's lost certificates and then sell these shares. I have recorded about 12 calls, each between 30 min and 2 hours, with each requesting additional items to be sent to them. USPS only, no email accepted. They requested a notarized letter of instruction, Power of Attorney, copy of driver's license, Medallion Signature Guarantee, and a $50 check. Then after I called 30 days later they need "A letter signed by an attorney of the law firm's letterhead dated within 60 days of the transaction stating..." Then after I called again in 30 days they said they needed a letter signed specifically stating "request to sell shares" because my original letter stated "cash out shares". Then after another 30 days they said the request was rejected because they didn't have the POA, which had been sent to them multiple times prior! Wow! Would never recommend this company to anyone! They didn't send my firat check to the right address, and didn't retain my address for a milestone payout later on. Some customer service reps are rude, and all are nearly useless. How does this company stay in business???? An internet search will show the consistently awful reviews from customers. Phone calls are lengthy button pushing exercises that result in 1.) waits of up to 45 minutes 2.) After waiting on hold for long stretches, there is a sudden disconnect or after the rep says they will put you on a "brief hold" the line goes quiet and nothing happens until it finally disconnects 2.) INCORRECT info from their own reps 3.) Repeatedly lost mail, even though mail was tracked and delivered 4.) Requests again and again for paperwork that was already provided 5.) Submitted address/name changes are ignored and must be submitted again and again....and again. These ridiculous delays and aggravations must be deliberate on their end hoping you will finally just give up and go away. read more

Yesterday I logged into Computershare for the first time in a while to finally set some limit orders for my GME. The system is generating an error preventing digital entry of orders, claiming I submitted a change of address yesterday. This did not happen. I also cannot submit limit orders via mail or phone, essentially locking me out of selling any of my shares. They are saying I need to wait 10 days, despite me not changing my address. Their customer service has been quite possibly one of the worst experiences I've ever had. Absolutely not listening to the issue, repeating back to me that I must enter limit orders online (despite being repeatedly told that i cannot) - they are also unable to verify how/why a change address was initiated. What they can verify is that the mysterious change request was to change my address to the identical address I had prior.... I am really concerned regarding Computershare's ability to facilitate GME holders, anyone else running into this error? read more

Computershare sold 272 of my shares with Philips at $31 a share, half of what I paid for them, without my authorization. They claimed that I signed a policy at Philips when I signed up to buy shares 7 years ago that if I leave Philips that I would need to find a broker for my shares within 6 months. Regardless of any policy, Philips does not have the legal authorization to give to any entity direction to sell my shares that I bought with my money without my knowledge. All Computershare had to do was reach out to me before hand to let me know that I needed to get a broker and they could not even do that. For such a large company their lack of integrity and compassion are unethical and illegal. If anyone knows if this was illegal and the precedence for it please let me know. Thanks. read more

The unbelievable scavenger hunt to document, claim and distribute our late father's stock retirement funds has been beyond bizarre. Every agent has a different answer or directive, or simply doesn't know the answers to our questions. Certified death certificates are ignored and listed as "photo copies", paperwork tasks are apparently lost or ignored. Months have gone by, with repetitious demands. Crazy--how can they survive in the investment business? We we warned by others that it would be painful dealing with ComputerShare. The warnings were not strong enough. I followed up by saying that at a minimum, they should include the original question in their reply. This is common sense. I am considering legal action as I am now incurring losses due to their incompetence. Actively looking for an attorney. This 'company' is completely incompetent. Trying to sell shares and get out of this account, but their website neglects to mention a limit on how much you can sell in a day. It just continually logged me out without explanation. Customer 'service' - when I finally got them on the phone (PS, their live chat function never appeared on my screen, despite the Help section noting if you stay inactive on "most US pages" for 25 seconds that option would pop up - nope. I tried. On multiple screens. With a stopwatch to ensure I waited the full 25 seconds), wasn't able to point me to anywhere on the website that included that information. The women 'helping' me was just clearly reading from a script. Apparently, to sell above a certain undisclosed limit, you have to *mail them a hard copy letter*. Then they will sell - meaning you cannot control at what price you sell, it's just whenever they receive the letter and get around to it. Could I sell multiple smaller orders on the same day? "I don't know, you should go ahead and try it." That was literally her guidance. Is there a template for the letter? Any specific language they require that an account holder use? Oh, no - no template. Do I need to include my account numbers? Not sure. SSN? Not sure. Yeah, not using that option. When we opened the call, she noted that my account was not locked and was ready to go. As we got deeper into the 45-minute call and I was getting frustrated (but verbalized that I recognized this was not her fault, noting that this was the most frustrating and terribly run investor website ever), I asked her if there was a place online I could provide feedback on their awful interface and non-transparent practices. Now, all of sudden she noted my account is locked. I asked her what happened, as when we opened the call the account was NOT locked and she specifically stated this to me so that we could try to work through my issues. She said, "I can help you with that," as I imagined her scrolling through the pre-scripted responses she had available to her. After a long pause... ...she hung up on me. Now I need a validation code to get back into my account. I'm livid. Worst company ever. Can't wait to GET OUT of this terrible account. read more

Computershare really shows how awful their customer service is. I'd characterize probably the worst service you can get in the online stock trade industry. You can't get thru to anyone over the phone. THe hold music just passes along and your time is wasted. You account gets locked, there is no one to talk to about unlocking it! You spend hours on hold trying to contact someone that can't help you or isn't available. You can't get your password reset. You can't get your account unlocked. Your money is yours to control. How are you supposed to manage it if Computershare won't help you with account recovery? Its takes weeks or months to get a response in the mail if that even happens at all. Meanwhile, you got money that is stuck in limbo that you can't touch. Its just pathetic. I recommend customers look elsewhere with real customer service. You run into problems with your account. You shouldn't be given time consuming roadblocks that prevent you from regaining control or access. I don't like going thru further grief because of this I don't care about the customer culture when you need access to your account again. Computershare is two thumbs down!! Recommend you avoid, and leave them. Its more than a headache, its poor customer service where the customer is just undervalued, ignored, or neglected. A very bad way to treat people.
