This is an online self broker website for buying shares in a particular set of options. There's a menu that you can choose from and do your research ahead of time. We bought a few shares of stocks from a few different companies and for us it was just a mirror, fun adventure. So far we've had nothing but praise for Computer share who has followed through with everything that they say they will do. They are easy to contact. You just have to use the phone number that you receive when you get your statement of the completed transaction. read more

There seems to be no sense of urgency or accountability, and getting a straight answer is nearly impossible. For a company entrusted with handling sensitive financial matters, especially during times like these, the experience feels cold, inefficient, and unnecessarily complicated. If you find yourself having to work with them for estate-related matters, be prepared for delays, persistence, and a lot of patience. I truly hope they take a hard look at their processes and start treating people with the level of care and respect situations like this deserve. Shame on corporations who send your shares to Computershare without asking. I use Fidelity and found an easy way on their website to transfer shares to them from Computershare. Very simple and Computershare is not involved in the transaction. (I don't work for Fidelity nor have I ever). Other major brokers can probably do the same thing. I recommend avoiding working with Computershare if at all possible. I have now had 3 phone calls just trying to get a simple answer of what steps I need to follow to sell all shares. Each time after 43 plus minutes I get disconnected while they put me on hold to check something. They confirm my phone number over and over but now I've learned their center only accepts inbound calls and cannot call me back. Last time when the agent went to put me on hold after 45 minutes, instead she transferred me to another agent. The agent apologized and offered to help, starting all the way from the beginning. Worst customer service possible. And I get contradicting information. I followed everything as instructed and checking back they say that's not what they needed. read more

Well, I figured the problem. Trying to add beneficiaries to the stocks on-line. Should be no biggie. Found out (by hit and miss) that because I was importing the data/doing a cut and paste on some items, the data wasn't recognized. Every item needs to be typed in "NEW". Support help (if you can get them!) unaware of this quirk. Going to take stocks and put them in another brokerage and just back away from Computershare. Just not customer friendly. read more

This company is like a textbook definition of "grossly incompetent." I submitted POA documentation several times, and when I have called they have confirmed that the documentation is on file. However, after four attempts to sell shares and close accounts, I continue to get rejection letters from them stating that they cannot process the request until I submit POA documentation. Every time, I call them and they once again confirm that they have the POA documents on file -- but then I have to go through the process again of filling out forms, getting a nonsensical stamp from the bank on the forms, and resubmitting them - only to have them again tell me that they cannot process the forms because they are lacking POA documentation. I have struggled to sell these shares and close all Computershare accounts for at least four years, and they still will not comply. read more

Consistent with all the other reviews, this company has very bad customer service. Extremely long wait times. Customer reps who do not help. For example,I had a question on my account, the rep clearly did not understand the question, and just kept repeating the same information over and over as if they thought that might somehow magically satisfy me. I am so frustrated with this company. It's really hard to get them on the phone I have to go through so many prompts before getting a person and then it's still hard to get help. For example I transferred shares to another brokerage but my cost basis was not transferred over, trying to get that information has been Hell. They said they would send me the account history and I never got it. Again this year I tried to get historical information for shares which I had transferred out they said they sent it to me and I still haven't gotten it, now they are trying again. At some point when I tried to change how I receive my dividends they locked my account saying because of the type of bank account they froze my account. Then I had to go through the pain of writing them a letter to unfreeze it. And their chatbot is awful. The people I have spoken to have been nice just because of the system it seems it is very hard for them to help. read more

I've been locked out of my computershare account and I have been on the phone with them 5 times to fix it. I was told that I had to send them a letter stating that I wanted the lock removed, which I did. The letter had to be notorized, which it was. They have confirmed that they have received the letter but they now tell me that I have to provide the email address on file. This account was set up 25 years ago. I've given them every email I've ever had, both personal and work. Nope.... Been on the phone with right now for 2 hours! Getting no where. read more

I have been trying to access my account documents and was instructed to send a written note with instructions and after one month with no resolution I called then up and the reps instruct me to do something different. This is an absolute scmbag company that illegally witholds your money by putting trade locks without notice on your account until you send in MANUAL letter with personal info like ID and utility bill, even when you have used the same account for years the same time every year. Computershare is, by far, one of the worst companies I deal with or have ever dealt with. Forget about getting them on the phone and, after suffering through a mind-numbing alert system and finally getting someone on the phone, they are usually ill-trained and useless. My father passed away a month ago and I am the executor assigned to distribute his assets per his wishes. As such, I was endeavoring to transfer his shares to me for distribution. Finally got a useless employee on the phone and she informed me of transfer forms that needed to be filled out and directed my to a company esignatureguarantee to get a medallion - this company turned out to be a scam and they charged me $141.55 and then did not provide the medallion. So Computerhare is part of a network of scam companies designed to bilk you out of money. I go to a lawyer and finally a bank that can provide a medallion and notarization and mailed the documents. No response or notifications from Computershare so go through the mind-numbing voice alerts and get another useless employee and she informs me since I don't have the original certificate I have yet another form to fill out and that form will cost me 3% and $80 totaling over $600. Years later and still trying to get some stocks out of my deceased Dad's name and into my nephews name, even though it is registered UTMA. Stock was purchased more than 25 years ago, but I have to prove that he is of age by sending them $50 and a certified birth cert. This was finally disclosed after years of telling me that I needed a medallion stamp and repeatedly explaining that I could not get one. I told them that the UTMA allowed the stocks to be transferred and suddenly we were eligible for the $50 waiver.... I was talking to an estate attorney about the difficulty with a holding company. I have been trying to get my shares of a Canadian company transferred to my US brokerage account for almost a year. They find every excuse possible to delay the transaction and have resulted in me occurring legal fees along with other fees and over 20 hours of my time trying to get my shares transferred into my brokerage account. THEY ARE THE WORST. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM. I'm 31 years old and had stocks bought for me as a child. My mom is the custodian. She gets the stupid $3 dividend checks each quarter and we always forget to deposit the money. I tried selling the stocks by mailing in the silly physical certificates and wrote a letter saying my mom and I agree to sell the stock (I live in NY and she lives in FL so it felt silly to mail her the certificates to then mail herself). The customer service agent said this was fine to do. We dont get a check after a few weeks so I call to ask what is going on. I then get told I committed fraud by signing for us and the account was locked even though they called her to confirm it was her so we now have to transfer the stocks in my name by filling out more paperwork. They wont send back the certificates. It's 2024, and this level of bureaucracy to sell $1,000 worth of stocks is so fucking insane. We'll probably die before getting the money. 0 Stars -- I started with investing $10,000 years ago in XTIA by crowdfunding on an up and coming company. Computershare held the funds. When the company went public, the $10,000 was divided by 3 by some exchange rate. So the value I own is $19 --3 shares of stock!! I will never get the money back - the stock price will have to go from 6 to 3200 to break even. I could have just invested the money directly and got 1400 shares. I called them to let them know there was a clerical error, but they do not care referring to documentation sent. Bottom line is these people are crooks. I have had stock with Computershare for many years. Until recently I have had almost no interaction with the company. Dividends were paid on time and access to accounts, on line, worked well. Last week, I received a letter saying they received a request to change my address. "If you did not request this change of address, call us promptly". I called and told the clerk I had not made such a request. He stated "we are initiating a fraud investigation". What he did not tell me was this investigation would result in deactivation of my online access. In order to correct this gross incompetence I was told to send a notarized letter to Computershare. I sent an overnight letter that they received before 6 a.m. the following day. My account is still frozen and I am not sure my holdings are still with the company or been transferred to the new address. The new address won't be revealed to me. I plan to remove all holdings from Computersahre when and if this is ever resolved. I can't be without access to my accounts for several days. read more
