Wish there were zero stars. Talked to 15 representatives today, each more incompetent than the one prior. Awful company, awful experience.

If 0 stars were an option, this company would get it. A 2-week turn-around became 4 months and still no results to my inquiry. If you want to inquire about more than one company, like 7, you have to call 7 different numbers and wait 7 different 30-minute waiting times. Misinformation galore!! Heavy accents. This company was the transfer agent of some stock shares my mother inherited. Unfortunately she did not have the original paper stock certificates, so she had to file some affidavit of loss paperwork to get them transferred into "electronic shares" instead. This seems to entail an insurance policy be purchased and they charge you $80 fee ... and long story short, this took well over a year ... as this seems like a fraudulent company and they make everything which should be simple, EXTREMELY DIFFICULT. They only work via. snail mail ... which insures a 10 day delay every time your attempt to do whatever the request, which never seems to end. They have a website that is worthless, you log in, and nothing is there and nothing can be done from there. The customer support is similar: wait forever, then they really cannot do anything for you, except they make it appear they are checking (forever) but then can't do anything, except some up with new excused and maybe a new wait for the next snail mail of 10 days. They claim you don't fill out paperwork right, but then you do ... and a month later, your repeating this process again. Meanwhile, you get blasted with letters from a firm called georgeson, who seems to have your account information, # of shares ... everything which shoudl be PRIVATE, but offers to deal with Computershare, for a modest percentage of everything you own. Wow, so I believe this is where the scam occurs ... pay georgeson to get things straightened out, while making dealing with them direct impossible. This company really does need to be reported and investigated ... because all signs point towards fraud and corruption. And if its not that, its the worst run company on the face of earth, period. AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS. If you do have shares there and can see them, transfer them out to any reputable broker dealer ASAP. As I write this, I am still waiting to see these shares appear in my mothers account, over 10 years after she inherited them. SHAME on computershare. read more

Terrible brokerage. Why on earth did Walmart choose them? They lock you out of account, they don't reply. They act rude on the phone and even accused us of fraud - for trying to get into own account? Send in paperwork and it makes no difference. Sent complaint to BBB about them but may not make any difference. Do not put your stock in this company if you can get out of it. Other brokerage companies are so much nicer and try to be helpful. Their website constantly says INSECURE SITE. They don't care - they have been told about it and could care less about it. Terrible company, terrible customer service, terrible policies. I updated my address information in my user portal and they restricted my ability to sell shares of stock for 14 days which has cost me thousands of dollars in loses. DO NOT USE THIS COMOPANY for you're investments! Only resolution they provided was that you must mail in a letter to execute your trade in full, thanks for being so helpful so by the time snail mail reaches there customer service and someone opens it and process the request that can take weeks as well, all with the same end result the loss of money for me! Computershare makes owning stock in a company extremely frustrating, cumbersome, and upsetting. I own stock in a company I use to work for. After leaving this company Computershare made it nearly impossible to speak to any human or customer support rep. Their website is probably the worst made website I have ever seen. Links are un-clickable , options to sell shares lead you to blank web pages, thier "live stock price" takes 30-45 minutes to catch up to the actual live trading price of your stock, and finally they make it extremely difficult to login. The login process is so bad that when I actually do talk to a representative on the phone they would rather help with my stock/account questions then reset my password or assist with the log in process. If your company offers you stock options and you get all excited and start to throw a party, check to see if they use Computershare as the broker. If so, RUN!! read more

This is the most unsympathetic scam artist company Ihave ever encountered. They granted me an award and never sent me any formal communication via mail. Then canceled the stock and stated that was good enough. I explained that I had no knowledge of the award and my work email has tons of emails that are usually trash. They refused to help me and refused to listen to anything I had to say regarding why it wasn't acknowledged. If anyone has business or stocks with this company I feel really bad for you . The manager was rude and unsympathetic and still nothing was resolved . When you issue something you do not take it back if its genuine. read more

I am amazed that this company still exists. They still use snail mail only and have a website that clearly has not been updated in the last decade. You can view the current value of your holdings but given the minimum two week processing time to sell or transfer shares current price doesn't matter. Good luck getting any real answers from customer service as they have to way to communicate with their back office other than "notes." If you have any need for your shares in the future start the transfer process now because it will take months (no exaggeration). This company is a class action lawsuit waiting to happen. read more

The single worst company to deal with, 45 minutes on the phone to have them unlock the account and then I get told I have to mail in a letter to adjust the account and have it unlocked. They couldn't have cared less and each person I spoke to was worse than the last. I have been back and forth with this company for 13 years now and today is the final straw. First I updated my maiden name and address which, to there credit, is the only thing that has been done right. Then I tried to remove my father from the account which should have happened when I turned 18. The paperwork to remove him gets lost on their end, disturbing considering how much personal information it contained. Then I fill it all out again and he gets removed but my, incredibly simple, name gets misspelled. I call to fix that and get told I have to go through all the paperwork for a 3rd time So I wrote and e-mail and got a call the next day with a girl swearing up and down she could fix it all and I wouldn't have to do the paperwork again. Given the total incompetence up to this point I really shouldn't have been surprised that I got sent something today with my maiden name, not my updated name, and my father is on the account again! She somehow made things worse than when she started. I call to get this all fixed again and get told there are paper versions of the stocks and that's why they can't remove him? But they did! They can remove him because they already did when they misspelled my name!! She is saying I have to fill out more paperwork, pay for a notary, and pay $80! For something that never existed? Why was this issue never mentioned before? All the sudden this other issue that no one else caught magically exists? Now I am going to be out close to $100 by the time this is all said and done due to the incompetence of their staff? They have had 13 years worth of chances but I've had these stocks 30+ years. I have been beyond reasonable. All I need is: 1. My father taken off as a custodian 2. My name spelled correctly 3. Checks that I cannot cash due to the aforementioned issues reissued with the correct information. That is it. That is all that needs to be done. I shouldn't have to beg for simple every day things. I called Computershare mid-July to have a letter done up in order to complete a student loan application. They told me I would have the letter by late-July. I called today (Sep 4) to see what happened and they just never got around to actually doing it. So I paid $50+ tax for literally nothing. And now I have to call them back next week once they have completed their "inquiry" as to why it wasn't done. They also will refuse to email anything and insist on snail mail - it's 2020. Get with the program. Wildly incompetent and a colossal waste of time. read more

HORRIBLE. Avoid at all costs. This is literally the worst and most frustrating business I have ever tried to deal with. The people who work there, from those answering the phones to the highest managers, are simultaneously ludicrously incompetent and malicious. I attempted to transfer shares that were purchased for me when I was a minor into my name only now that I'm of legal age. The stocks are worth $4000.00, and my grandmother who purchased them is now deceased. The company sent me 15 pages of forms to fill out in order to transfer the shares into my name, and the signature on the form required a Medallion Signature Guarantee by my bank. My bank will not guarantee the signature without the most recent account statement. When I called to get the account statement, they said they can only send it to the address of the account custodian. When I explained that she is deceased, they said they can only send it to that address, and that I would have to transfer the account to my name only in order to update the address on the account and have them sent to me. I told them (by this time I was talking to a manager) that I was trying to transfer the account to my name and that's why I needed the statement, at which point the manager informed me that there was nothing they could do except send the statement to the address of my deceased grandmother. So this $4000+ account is unable to be accessed and they have no way of dealing with the primary holder being deceased. They were very aggressive and unapologetic on the phone with me, and did not offer any solutions no matter how far up the ladder I asked. So I'm losing out on the $4000 that my grandmother left me because of this terrible company. read more

Like everyone else I have tried to contact computershare several times and gotten no feedback at all. I can't believe that a company working with shares for companies like SAAB has a non-existing customer service. I would never recommend this company to anyone. I have been trying to close my account for two months now since I am no longer working for SAAB, but nothing happens and I still have a lot of money frozen in my account that I have asked to have transferred several times. Everything you do is like pulling teeth. Got locked out of my account and was told I need to write a written request to have the password reset. What a joke! Then I was told it was not possible for them to unlock it and that I need a new account entirely. What if there was an issue and you can't access my account? Joke! Trying to transfer my RRSP from computershare since July 2020 but have't got it till now. Sent them the request forms over 6 times and talked with over 10 customers service representative. Have been trying for months to close out an account managed by Computershare. Each time I speak to someone, I get a different set of instructions. I asked that they email me written instructions, or point me to a document on their website, but they tell me that's impossible -- all they can do is snail mail me a letter. When I finally get the letter, it has instructions that do not apply to my situation. I call back. They snail mail me another set of instructions. I do exactly what they ask and mail my request. They claim they never get my letter. I do it again via UPS overnight ($25); they get it but claim I didn't give them everything they needed. I re-do it based on their newest instructions, send back via USPS Priority Mail, with tracking so I know they got it. But now they claim they never received it even though I have proof. Whether they're fraudulent or simply incompetent, avoid them if you possibly can. read more

I was persuaded to work there by a temp agency. I went for my appointment at 6pm. Most of my paperwork was already handled by the temp agency. I went there to be fingerprinted. For a company that provides software support to the financial services industry, they have one person to do fingerprinting with ink on paper. Seriously. By 9pm the fingerprinting person wasn't ready yet. Then a class of new trainees came out and and the instructor told me that her class of like ten people would be going ahead of me. BRUTAL! Zero stars for this outfit. sold off my holdings over 2 months ago. money has been sitting in cash according to my online account. I've been working with my regular bank (one of the big 5) to get the funds released to me but still no luck. I've been lied to several times regarding when they received the withdrawal request from my bank and none of the dates have matched with what the last guy said. My bank has sent in at least 4-5 requests dating back to early July. Ive made umpteen calls, sent even more emails as to where's my money with no real clear response. oh and $285 in withdrawal fees. Do NOT do business with this outfit if you want your money in a timely manor. I sure hope my money still exists......ive yet to see it!! read more

This was a living nightmare, one hour and half on the phone and I have nothing. I forgot the answer to security question, what is your favorite movie quote, over 10 years ago, what the hell! They refused to email me a copy of my statement for the current balance for some applications I am completing. $35.00 to mail to me and they will not email. they are mailing me a temporary password to enter because i am locked out of the account and I just found I need this statement today before 5 . etc. It takes 7 days, she said, I am seriously upset of how stupid these people are about customer service. Frustratingly incompetent. Considering how much money they oversee for millions of people, they are surprisingly elusive and incapable of providing any kind of response or support. After several calls during business hours that went unanswered, I finally got through to a person, who gave me what turned out to be the opposite of good information. I wish I could give 0 reviews for Computershare. I have been trying to sell my shares for MONTHS now. Everything is through paper and mail; nothing is done online. The customer service is kind but completely incompetent. I have had to fill out multiple forms several different times. Every time I call (at least 30 times!!) they assure me that there are no more steps and I will be receiving my check soon. When I call to ask where my check is because it never got delivered, they send me MORE forms! A form I have already filled out 3 times and had to go the bank to get medallion stamped. I am livid and am 100% convinced they are doing this to me so they can keep my money. There is no reason it should take months to sell your shares. Don't bother with this pathetic company. I have never wasted more of my time and money (and stamps!) on such an awful, unethical company. Never invest in any company's that uses Computershare. This company stinks!!! I am trying to sell my mothers stocks. I am her Power of Attorney. They initially refused and sent me a letter to explain why. I went to attorney and he prepared and documented EVERYTHING they asked for. I sent the documents to them. They have not acted on the sale. They say they have put restrictions on the sale. No-one has told me what the restrictions are, or how to proceed. Now here is the kicker- my mother owns just enough stock to make her ineligible for medicaid. She is 99 and in a nursing home. I am paying over 10,000 a month for her nursing home out of my own retirement. This company stinks. They are causing me endless grief and financial losses. This company is the worst for customer service. I can't believe they are still in business. They are infamous in business circles for how bad they are. You cannot talk to a human being. You click "chat" but no one is available and they tell you to come back later. Their website is horrendous. Just a simple thing like trying to sell your shares is byzantine and incomprehensible. I finally found a form to download in order to sell shares. We filled it out and went to our bank for a medallion signature guarantee and mailed it in. Amazing company to work with; amazing in the sense that they don't seem to care about the stockholder's. I am sure their loyalty lies with the companies placing their stock administration with them but they should realize the stockholder's are the company !! I am just trying to get an affidavit of loss form for Anthem Inc. the old Well Point Company which is Blue Cross to most people. I have a letter from them which has my account name, document I.D. and account number which they can't seem to find. You then get transferred to a confusing voice mail system and if you have an account number, you punch it in and the system says they can't find your number. This eventually gets you to an real person who states your account is in another department and when you finally get to that department, you get Mira who is actually helpful in the sense that she was nice and said she would send me what I needed. When you ask Mira for her department number so you can avoid the mess before you get to her department, she states she does not have a number she can give out and you must call the main number and go through the whole mess all over. What a great company, I would love to sit in on their customer service meetings !! read more

I have been attempting to complete a very simple task for almost one year now due to the fact that every month computershare sends me something and then I send it back and they tell me it was the wrong thing and then I call and someone tells me something else and sends me something else and it's the wrong thing....literally for almost ONE YEAR. To complete one simple task. It's like a circus. I even sent them a check which has been deposited and all they can do is send me letters saying I owe them that same amount. Total idiots. Every step of the way is a transaction waiting to go wrong or frankly take forever. I don't think they have phone lines here in America. I'm convinced they are all overseas. If you are expecting a phone call back from them it comes from some number which clearly appears to be out of the USA. They will never leave you a message to call them back if they get your voice mail, they just hang up. I have often asked for a supervisor. They never give you all the information you need to take the next step, when you think you are done, they will tell you something is missing or incorrect. When I went to transfer some stocks to a new broker, 'cause I'm slowly getting rid of Computershare they told the new broker the SS # he, the new broker provided, did not match the one on file on their records for me. They sent an electronic denial to the new broker and told me they never did such a thing, even though I have the copy of the electronic e mail rejecting the transfer and stating why. When I wanted to forward that to Computershare the supervisor told me they won't accept an e mail from me, you can mail that in she said. OH MY. Anyhow, I've been dealing with them for one year transfer stuff away from them, and again, they are not easy to work with. read more

Horrible! I have been trying to sell my shares for months. They cashed the $97 checks for processing fees in June, but haven't cashed me out as of January 2016. Calling my lawyer and submitting grievance with Better Business and whoever else will take a complaint. read more

I would give no stars at all if that were an option. This is the WORST company I have ever had to deal with. If you have stocks in Computershare, transfer them to another brokerage firm as soon as you can. They screw up social security numbers so that you have to go through all kinds of changes when you want to take out your stocks and the representatives are rude, rude rude and not helpful at all. But before you even get to a representative, you have to go through their automated phone system which takes forever even if you start out asking for a representative right away. It took me months to get my stocks away from them. I felt like they were holding them hostage. The website lets you log in for a little while, then when you try to log in after a while, it says you need to re-certify your authorization number which they will mail to you so you have to wait 7-10 days before you get that. Everything takes 7-10 days so that's how the operators get you off the phone by saying wait 7-10 days (even if it has been 20 days). Don't mail anything to them unless you have a tracking number because they toss everything in the trash that doesn't have a tracking number on it. Worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. I asked for a supervisor once and after waiting 15 minutes for her, they hung up on me. Then you have to go through the automated system again. They will never give you a call back number no matter who you speak to. I had to contact the company that I owned stock for and have them contact Computershare to get them to release my stocks. Buyer beware! I am so happy that I am with WellsTrade now. AmeriTrade is a safer bet than Computershare and they only charge $9.99 for a trade. Edward Jones' fees are too high. You might as well just leave your money in the bank if you go with Edward Jones. Whatever you do - don't purchase stock with Computershare! I am saving you a lot of irritation if you heed this warning. read more
