STAY AWAY from ComputerRocks in Murfreesboro. Upon my arrival, there was a woman at the desk who was very upset. From what I could gather, she was being charged more than what she was quoted. I basically ignored it, but my how I wish I would have turned around. First, I need to mention that I dealt with different people throughout the entire process. 1 gentleman at drop-off, another gentleman on the phone who had very broken english, and 2 teenage boys when I picked up the laptops. I had an issue with 2 of my laptops. First, I was told it was probably a hard drive issue with one, and corrupted RAM on the other (which I recently upgraded). I was told and signed for a $20.00 diagnostic fee that would be waived if I completed the repair. I was never given labor rates throughout the entire process. I was called a couple days later and informed that both of the hard drives were bad and it would cost $150.00 for one laptop, and $100.00 for the other. I was told they were both going to be replaced with 1tb hard drives. I gave him the go ahead thinking this was the cost to repair them. (Again, I was never quoted labor rates) Both of my laptops originally had 1tb hard drives and they were both replaced with (much) smaller (SSD) hard drives which are faster, but not near the same capacity. One day later when the repairs were completed, I was called was then informed that I was being charged $300.00 per laptop. I was not happy and let him know that I didn't agree with this. I told him that I would be coming by shortly to go over the details. When I arrived, there were 2 teenagers (13 or 14 years old) working the desk. I felt that they were there for a reason. It was known that I was upset and that I was coming in. I was then informed that the previous charges of $300.00 per laptop was not including tax. I informed that I wasnt going to pay that much. The teens ended up calling the original person who quoted me $150.00, and $100.00. He did cut the price down about $80.00. So, I ended up paying $534.00 and some change I have to bring up that I was being charged over $100.00 in labor for each laptop, and one of the laptops has an easy access panel on the underside. It literally has 1 little screw and the entire back comes off revealing the hard drive, graphics/video card, fans, RAM, etc. Once I arrived home, one of the laptops had a prompt that stated the Hard drive wasn't installed. I removed the back cover and noticed the connections were loose. So I basically pushed them in a little harder. They also rounded off 2 of the 4 screws holding down the hard drive. I also noticed that the hard drive that was installed looked somewhat cheap and felt that way as well. I did a little research and found that it could be purchased on amazon for $50.00, and I was charged $150.00 for it. I also decided to check out the old hard drives and see if I could possibly use them for additional storage, and low and behold, they both work just fine. So, now I am wondering why they were replaced at all. It seems that I was charged what, 125% mark up on the hard drives that I didn't need. I also feel that I was being told those were the issue, while the true issue may have been much simpler and cheaper. Needless to say, I am not enthused and I feel like I was scammed. Over Thanksgiving break, I broke my computer by tripping over the power cord. (I know I should have bought a mac with their awesome mag safe power adapters) I watched a movie until the battery died and realized that my dc jack was broken. So I bought a new dc jack from Gateway. The jack was delivered in early December. Upon receipt of the part, I called around to a few computer shops. The best deal that I came upon was Computerocks. I explained to them that I tripped over my adapter cord and broke the ac jack. I told them that I already purchased the part so I just needed them to install the new jack. The cost: $120. I told them that I didn't have that much so they lowered the cost of labor to $70 cash only. I accepted. After a week I called them to see if my computer was ready. It wasn't. After another week went by, they notified me that they had replaced the jack but my computer was still unresponsive which lead them to believe that it was a problem with the motherboard. Slightly confused, I notified the tech that even after my computer fell I was able to finish watching a movie before the battery died. He then suggests that he try to figure out what the problem is. A week or so passes before I am contacted about the progress of my computer. It's early January when the tech confirms that it is indeed an issue with the motherboard. They were able to get my computer to turn on but within 2 secs it would go off again. So on to the next option...A new motherboard. He told me the cost of a new motherboard, $189 being the cheapest. I needed to think on that. I decided to just get my computer until I made enough money to get it fixed. I couldn't retrieve my computer because it had yet to be reassembled. I called a week later to see if it had be put together again..negative. Another week passes, the computer still hasn't been reassembled. After a few days, I received a call from Computerocks. My computer is ready for pickup. Since that took so long. The tech didn't make me pay for the installation of my AC jack. Hooray! That gave me enough money combined with my paycheck for that week to get a new motherboard. I received the money for my check I went back to them to purchase a motherboard. Well, instead of paying $189 it would be $234. So the tech discounted the labor. Nice! I paid $317 in all. $234 for the motherboard and $55 for labor. Mid February has arrived. My computer is ready!...one problem...The battery is missing. They misplaced it so they decided to buy another one. It is now Mid-February and I have gone to the location to pick up my computer and request that the battery be shipped to my address. The guy behind the counter wasn't very friendly. He did a lot of heavy sighing and slamming the phone when customers called. Not good for business at all.. The battery will be shipped to my house soon.. I hope. Til then, one USB port doesn't work, my space-bar is barely attached, and my nonslip grips on the bottom of my computer are no longer there. In conclusion, Computerocks has some friendly personnel(one not so friendly) but I recommend finding somewhere more professional. read more

This place is AWFUL. The previous owner works across town on Memorial. Or did. I thought it was his place still when I took a system in there in '16 to save data from a mechanical drive that was failing. Not only did they ignored my request, they disabled my raid array, and when I got there after they said it was ready, the idiot was still quickly trying to copy all the data- previously on a RAID zero- to get finished b4 I arrived (cuz he only started the job after I called)- and he had a single drive copying all the data which everybody knows you can't do without the same RAID driver the MBoard uses!!! Not only that, I had two protective RAID 10 1 TB drives. They took them apart and unplugged the SATA cables. My motherboard (an ASUS Rampage II Extreme) made their little heads spin around. I refused to pay, and they said "You have virus. We remove virus!!! You PAY!!!". Long story short I did NOT pay and it took me forever to get my parts (that's what my system was now) out of there. Then they called me afterwards for months, promising that if I would bring it back, they would fix it. I answered "You have stupid. You no fix. I no come to you EVER. I was working on my computer and the fan gave out. I was driving home and had seen them on the way. (Note I had been playing minecraft a heavy duty application.) So, I took them the laptop, and I waited many days after they said it would be ready. I picked up the computer and took it home, and guess what I get, an error message. I take it back to them and they say the hard drive failed. They said anything could of caused it, and they told me it was on the left bottom corner, the exact opposite of where the fan was. I knew for a fact it was beside the fan, so they had lied because they would of needed to see the hard drive next to the fan. This place sucks! Do not go here! They will try to rip you off!!! I went there to get my mother's computer fixed bc it was working and wouldn't load. I have it to them in the morning and they said they would call me and let me know what's going on. The didn't call me all day and when I called about it they said they hadn't looked at it. Then call me back 30 mins later and say they have to reset the whole computer and did I want anything off of it and I said why? They said I think there are some viruses on it. And then I ask how much and they said 130 dollars. Wow!! Just to rest the computer!! I can do that myself. They didn't even look at it. They were just going to reset it and not find out what is wrong with it. Then I went to pick it up and they said it was 21 dollars... I was like for what!? Hmmm nothing describes my experience better then a terrible, terrible nightmare. this place sucks. So let me start you on my little tale of adventure. this all started a couple of months ago when i brought my laptop in, i had a burnt out power jack and a broken screen (which i broke trying to fix the power jack, irony.) i took it in to Computerocks over in Murfreesboro, TN, and they said i had buy the screen up front and the bill was gonna wind up being $300.00. I'm a truck driver (on a side note) so i just payed the whole thing up front and told them i'd be back in 3-4 weeks or call me and my dad would pick it up and overnight that badboy to me. we all shook hand and talked about the cat that was there, fun times. Two months later and 4 different b.s. excuses later, i got my laptop. and they gave me a broken power cord, when my original worked just fine. the laptop works, though it is suspiciously slow now. so this place is a no go. this is what i get for trying to support small business. All I have to say about this place is DO NOT go there. I am not even going to go into my reasons why but I have used them twice and both times was a nightmare. I bought a used one from them as well just for the kids to game on. It had problems so I took it back and was willing to pay for the repairs but instead they said it could not be repaired for what I could buy a new one for (so why did you sell it in the first place??) My Windows got corrupted on my laptop, resulting in a blank screen. I wanted to find a local computer repair shop without having to go to the big box guys. It wasn't an expensive laptop to begin with, and I didn't want to spend a great deal to repair it. I had driven by this place near MTSU often and decided to give them a try. They work out of a lovely older house, with a large front room converted to the office/work space. I dropped it off Thursday afternoon and the polite young man who took my computer knew immediately what the issue was and quoted me the repair cost and two-day timeline to have it set back to factory standards. Sure enough, I got a call Saturday morning that it was ready. I picked it up good to go for under $100, which was very reasonable as far as I was concerned. Mind you, if there had been stuff stored on the hard drive which I needed to have recovered, it would have cost me much more time and money, but since most of what I had on there were photos which were also still on my camera, it wasn't necessary to go through that. I was very pleased to have my laptop back quickly and painlessly. They do a quick diagnosis for free if you have a computer problem and like me are not sure if it's worth it or if you can afford to fix it. read more

AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE; THEY ARE SCAMMERS!!! Six weeks ago I stopped in to see if Computer Rocks in Mboro worked on Microsoft Surface tablets. My screen was cracked and I needed a replacement. Other than that my device worked fined. So, when I asked the first employee I spoke with at Computer Rocks and he told me "sure we can fix these," I was excited. He asked another employee what it would cost to fix it. The price was $119 for parts and labor. They explained that they would have to order the part and it would take five business days to arrive and that I could leave my Surface with them. But, I needed to pay first. Since the device worked fine and I had to travel that weekend, I said I would pay now and drop it off when I returned since the new screen should had arrived by then. Simply enough, right? The following week I dropped off my Surface. A man named Omar was working. He kept asking if I had paid. I told him THREE times, "yes, I've paid" He said ok, and it would probably be ready in a day or two. I waited a week with no computer or word from them and finally called. Omar answered. I asked about Surface and he told me that it was not repaired and in fact did not even turn on now. He went on to explain that the first screen they ordered was the wrong screen or something and the second one didn't work. Nevertheless, they were not able to repair it and now it DIDN'T EVEN WORK. Omar goes on to tell me that I had two options, buy a new computer from them and that the $119 I paid up front to fix my computer would go towards that purchase. Or, he could order it from China and it would take a couple of months to arrive and I would have to pay for the part and shipping. He said that ordering from China was not the smart choice. I was furious as this smacked of a scam. I told him this and that my computer worked fine when I dropped it off and that it just had a cracked screen. Apparently he did not care and just kept telling me what a deal I was getting because he had to pay for the second screen and the labor to try to put it on my surface. I was taken aback by what I heard. Could he not see that his business had made my situation worse not better? His overhead cost to run a repair shop is not my concern. I keep trying to explain in the simplest way possible that this all sounded fishy and that I was not going to buy a brand new computer from him! I told him I would come in personally to discuss the issue further. The next day I came in and spoke with one of the first employees I had dealt with. He told me not to listen to Omar and that what Omar had told me about waiting months for a screen from China was not true. Rather it might take a week or two. He said that he understood my frustration and that he would just go ahead and honor the initial agreement of $119. This guy seemed reasonable and trustworthy. I just figured that Omar was just some nut employee that didn't know what he was doing. So, I told him that I needed a loaner computer (nothing fancy) with basic Word and internet capability since my work requires me to work remotely. He gave me an old community and said he'd call in a week or two. So I waited three week. No call. I decided to stop in on my lunch break today just to check the status of my computer. To my disgust, Omar was working. I asked about my computer. He said it was ready. I gave him the loaner and checked my computer to see if it worked properly. It did. So, I was about to walk out the door and Omar screamed, are you going to pay me the $50 you owe. I replied that no, I didn't know anything about owing $50 for the new screen. I initially just assumed that there was a misunderstanding. He insisted that I had been told that I would have to pay $50 for the new screen and that nothing was free. I told him that the other employee and told me that they would take care of this and that he had apologized for all the problems that I had had to deal with. Omar replied that he was the owner and that the other guy would never have told me that. I said call him. He did. I spoke with the guy and he did not remember telling me that I would have to $50. So I thought all was taken care of. That's when Omar got violent. He hung up the phone and tried to grab my Surface. He then blocked the door for me to leave and threatened to call the cops. I told him to do so. I think he was shocked I called his bluff. Other customers witnessed this and left. He called the cops. They showed up and listen to both sides of the story. You could tell they were not buying Omar's story. The officer made him call the employee that I had dealt with. When he told them what happened. The officer then turned to me and said "you do not have to pay and are free to leave." I can't believe anyone runs a business like that. I imagine that he prays on individuals that are either 1) gullible or 2) scared of confrontation. read more

AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!! Be careful with these people, please take my experience as an advice and save yourself the struggle. I took my laptop to ComputerRocks because it would not turn on, after they did a "diagnostic" it turned out to be motherboard, so agreed on replacing it. I had no idea this was going to be the begging of an ordeal, i wish i would have known better. It took them 2 months to receive the replacement part, which is super easy to find everywhere. I kept going to their location and calling constantly, only to be told that the part had not yet arrived. On one of those occasions, the person at the desk pointed at a package and said, this is actually your motherboard, it just came in. Well, another week passed and i returned to check on the progress. The person again told me, the motherboard just arrived yesterday. Maybe he thought i forgot i was just told that the previous week. Anyways, another week passed and i finally received a call from them, now my battery was apparently bad. Strange thing because it seemed to be working fine before the computer died on me, this person tried to charge me over $100 dollars for $50 dollar battery that does not require any special tools to install, it comes off just like a cell phone battery. After a long discussion and wanting to just get my computer back, i paid $75. Another 2 weeks passed, till i finally received the call that my computer was ready. I took it home and realized that the keyboard was not lighting up, so i brought it. It was working perfectly before. I told the person that i did not want this to take weeks, but of course it did. 2 weeks after i received a call, they were telling me that in order to fix the lights it was going to cost me an extra $75 dollars. I told them that my keyboard was working perfectly before they "fixed" the computer, he told me they was going to do something and call me. Thinking they were going to fix it, i let another week pass. When i finally went to see what was happening with my computer, the person there told me that they did not do anything because i did not agree to the $75 dollar charge. After spending over $400 dollars, waiting over 3 months for something that should have taken a week, they could not make things right by at least giving me my computer back the way it was. It is sad how businesses take advantage of customers. As a business owner myself, if i know we made a mistake, especially a 3 month mistake. The least i can do for my customers, is to make sure they leave happy and wanting to return. At the end, that is where the profit comes, not by trying to make an additional $75 dollar from someone. I ended up just taking my computer form them, with my keyboard not working. Please be very careful, there are so many more places that are better. read more

My computer would not come on, so I took it (May 11th) to computer rocks to have it repaired if possible. I have hauled that laptop around the world three times, so i wanted it repaired if it was feasible. Well after having it for a couple of weeks, the mother board was fried. I was told that they had located a uses one, so I paid 229 bucks for the part and the. Labor was $150. Okay, they ordered the motherboard and it was received on May 29th, and the tech would start start working on it on 31st and be ready on Saturday the 1st of June. They didn't call, however, so again, I called them on June 3rd. Well, guess what, the tech broke a fan while installing the motherboard. So the part arrived on June 5th. I called on the 14th the the person that I spoke with said that "John" would call me back. Yeah rightttttt! So, Saturday the 15th I was in town, so I dropped in. I told the guy at the desk who I was, and he was like "ohhh sheeeet!". And told him that I wanted my computer. Well after a lot of fumbling around in the work shop, they put the fan in. I am standing out at the front desk waiting, trying hard as hell to not cuss them out. So, they pronounce my computer repaired, but guess what, they have lost a small cover on the bottom. More fumbling around for the missing cover. Well, they have already screwed me over on the price and felt that they were being ever so generous with a 40 dollar discount. I could have cared less. I came to rescue my computer. To add insult to the injury, I was made an offer of a missing cover and a new battery! Wow! Sadly, I declined, and they had to document my declining the offer. Which I did add my two cents to it. Look, ComputerRocks might be some super computer fixers, but as for customer service, they are horrible.
