I was having a cursor issue with my MacBook and really didn't want to deal with the Apple Store and came across these guys who are Apple authorized repair. I went online, made a reservation. When I explained what was going on, they assured me that they could look into it and probably fix it. My MacBook is an older model so that may cause concern with part availability. I had a couple of other questions about some things I had noticed and they answered them right their on the spot. As it turns out, the fix for the cursor was pretty simple and they only had my laptop for a day. Their service is efficient, professional and done in a very friendly manner. They called me to tell me the laptop was done and explained everything in a simple manner and completely. I found their services affordable as well. I'm very disappointed in the team and effort at Computer Rescue 911. I brought my MS Surface Pro in because it wouldn't power up. $80 for them to try different chargers(I brought my working charger) and 'button combinations' they pulled from Google...seriously? Then they ask for more money to get my data off. If they knew working on this machine was too hard for them, they shouldn't have taken the job. All of this felt like a scam to charge me more to get my data off of the device. When I dropped the device off I was led to believe that they would open up the Surface Pro and take a look at the drive. Was even told the cost to replace the drive wasn't much. I sent them my PC so they could fix my CPU cooler, and they charged me 125$ to tell me that it was broken, like come on, I KNEW THAT MUCH!!! And then they say "oh its gonna cost yopu 400$ to get us to replace it" like dude i can buy a cooler and install it myself for 50$, so i come and pick it up, and they bent my cpu pins, now im new to the pc thing so i thought they did it on purpose to make it work better, turns out it didnt, so i tell em, hey you bent my pins can you fix em, and they're like, "maybe, give us another 125$" and im like HUH?!??! you broke my pc more than it was when i gave it to you, and now you want me to pay more?!?! they are still continuing to deny the fact they bent the pins to this day, (this has gone on for about a month now) if i could give them 0 stars, i would. never come here, its a scam. worst place ever. I stopped into Computer Rescue 911 to see about them looking at my laptop for some issues. They have you by the horns once you are in the door ... expensive for just looking at your laptop. I went with Express PC in Alger Heights, which was the right choice because he was personal and did not ask for money upfront, and was honest about the issue. He fixed it at about 50% of the process of Computer Rescue and he even checked in with me a couple of weeks later to make sure all was fine. read more

Any way to give these folks six stars? My hard drive failed on my old iMac 27" and this place was recommended by Apple. I brought it in late on a Friday and I got a call early Monday with the proposed fix. It was ready for pick up on Tuesday. I was upgraded from a hard disc drive to a solid state drive. And what a difference! Before the actual failure, I would have to almost plan my day around booting up the iMac because it was so slow. With the SSD, I press the power button and it's pretty much up before I sit down. If I had done this years ago I would have saved myself a ton of anguish and lots of foul language. I cannot compliment the staff too much. They are professional, helpful, knowledgeable, reasonable and prompt. Don't waste your time shopping around. If you have a computer issue, this is the place to go. read more

Computer Rescue 911 is a scam! I walked in asking for a quote on a screen replacement for my Asus ROG, before I can get a quote they tell me I have to get signed in. CR911 asked for my name, number, email and address. Then CR911 tells me I have to sign their waivers so they can work on the computer, mind you this is all for a quote. While their printing the paperwork the associate asks me if I wanted to go ahead with the service, to which I reply, "I haven't heard a quote yet so I don't know if I will or not". After I read and signed their waiver I am then told at that point they would have to collect the $79 fee described in their contract. I know the contract says in advance, so I asked the associate, "Before I get a quote?" To which he nodded and said yes. At that point I picked up my laptop and left telling them I wasn't going to pay $79 for a quote and possible labor. Before CR911 I left Express PC and they were super friendly, walked in Express PC and got a quote without giving any personal info, signing any waivers and absolutely ZERO fees for the quote I received. These guys are my go to for anything I need in the future. I had a pretty weird issue with my custom build and I spent a month trying to trouble shoot it myself but finally just threw in the towel - I didn't have the patience, time or resources to do thorough testing and troubleshooting. Within a week these guys had my system back up and running and gave me a rundown of what they had done and what the issue actually ended up being. They were awesome to work with - it being a custom PC they recognize that you're probably smarter than the average bear about PCs and don't talk down to you about your system. To top it all off, I only paid the initial $88 diagnostic fee and another $88 upon pickup - despite all the things it sounded like they did with it. You're not paying for the time the system is under testing when someone isn't physically working on it. You pay for their time and their expertise. The team was super friendly and called with any questions they had regarding the system. Despite having signed what I guess you would call a waiver stating that they aren't responsible for any data loss - they still called and made sure it was okay to wipe one of my drives to reinstall Windows 10! Very impressed with this team and their work ethic. 10/10 would recommend. read more

I stopped in to inquire about whole home ethernet service, as my Eero mesh extenders were no longer adequately spreading the wifi signal around my house, and my wife and I both work from home. Isaac insisted I try the Orbi mesh extenders as they were much better than Eero. He said they were fully-refundable if I was not happy with them so I reluctantly agreed. The install seemed to go well with the exception of Isaac pulling a desk out and the Orbi came crashing against the wall. A few hours after the install, I was once again losing network connection! I moved my router/modem to the main floor and was getting a much better signal so I disconnected the Orbi and returned it to CR911. They couldn't refund my money that day because only the GM can process returns and he was out that day. Next day - same thing. On the 3rd day, I get an email from Jason Tanner the GM saying he will not give me a full refund on the product as there were a couple scuff marks on the Orbi. He also would not refund the $190 install charge, saying we should have called and made an appointment to have them come out and find another solution. What does 911 stand for? I should have to wait additional days for you guys to come out? I work from home until I can't connect to the network, then I have to take personal time off, which I was running out of. I had to fix the problem myself. So, in total, I paid $790.99, and he offered my a refund of $423.99, which he said he processed but has not hit my bank yet. Jason doesn't run a reputable business - his employees lack the training required to communicate the terms of their pricing and return policies. And Jason himself doesn't seem to grasp the real cost of treating his customers this way. Look elsewhere...seriously. read more

I stopped in to see if they could help me put in some screws that had fallen out of the back of my laptop (at only 4 months old!). They had me in and out of there in about 5 minutes, and instead of charging me said just to come back when I have other issues, which I definitely will! Contrast this with OfficeMax who happens to have a big huge sign that says "we fix computers"...I stopped in there because I needed to get some other supplies and the guy wanted to charge me their minimum (something like $60-90) and hang on to my laptop for a while to fix it. I had to make a Yelp account just to review this place. It's that great. I brought my poor, beat up, vintage macbook air here. It needed a new battery, which I already had with me because I had bought it online. However, I didn't know how to install it myself and I didn't have the right screwdrivers for it, anyway. The very nice man at the desk (whose name I didn't get, unfortunately) fixed me up immediately, installed the battery, ran some tests on it, did it all within 15 minutes, and even cleaned it up before returning it to me. Price? None. This was such shockingly amazing service that I have already told three people about this place today. After spending 2 frustrating hours at the apple store only to be told that "we can't find anything wrong with it, and even if we did, we couldn't work on it because it's a 2011 model". They recommended I take it to Computer Rescue 911 to see if they could figure it out. Well I wasn't in there two minutes before they said "oh yeah, we've seen this before, we'll take care of it." And boy did they ever! Their service was fast, friendly, and efficient, but most importantly HONEST! The very next morning one of their techs (Josh) called with a progress report and said "listen, I'd love to sell you a bunch of parts and bills for labor, but the fact of the matter is that if it needs a lot done, you may get away cheaper and be better off just buying a brand new computer." (which they don't sell btw) I thought that really said something about the integrity of this company. In the end it turned out to be that the old mechanical drive was starting to wear out and slow down, They installed a new SSD drive with a lot more RAM, and now my unit runs faster than it EVER has, for less than a 1/4 of the price of a new Mac. Needless to say, next time I'm not even going to bother taking it to the Apple store, Computer Rescue 911 now has a new long term customer. read more

My computer-geek friend told me my hard drive could not be repaired and that my data was all lost. Sure, I took it to Best Buy because everyone knows the big name. BB told me that IF it could be repaired, they wouldn't know until they sent it to Kentucky and my bill would be no less than $5k and there's no time frame to get the job done. Then, I found Computer Rescue 911 and they are the BEST! Cost: CR911 didn't ballpark it, they were upfront, honest, exact, and WAY less than BB. Time: CR911 did the recovery in much less time than they estimated, it was superfast. My impossible hard drive: CR911 got 100% DATA RECOVERY!!! On top of all that, CR911 customer service is superb. I will go back to inquire on cleaning up my laptop and I'm going to ask about networking my home more efficiently and I trust CR911 for everything computer. Genuine trust. Old-fashioned trust.
