I spilled a drink on my laptop and my laptop shut off immediately. After trying to drain all the water and drying them and try to turn it on by myself, the computer is not turning on at all. Sent my laptop to this guy few days after hoping that he could save it. Also asked him to thoroughly clean the whole inside and he said hew would do it and he handled this kind of case before. For $50, if im not mistaken, he managed to bring back my laptop alive. Used the laptop for few months with no problem at all. And all of a sudden on one day my laptop died again. Sent to another repair shop and they discovered that one of the chip on the motherboard was fried due to the water spilling on top of it from the crevices under the keyboard. Well apparently he didnt do a good job cleaning the inside of the laptop. I even have the pictures of the inside of the laptop that was not cleaned. The only way to save the laptop now is by replacing the motherboard which costs around 250, a quarter of the original price of the laptop. Well done Doctor. Not recommended due to the lack of professionality, did a bad job on solving the problem, and luing to customer. read more

After six reliable years, my MacBook suddenly crapped out...I THINK I did the Time Machine backup thing correctly...a few months ago. And I JUST "upgraded" my operating system...to Snow Leopard. Safe to say I haven't had to do anything to that baby since I bought it and I really don't pay attention to the latest and greatest. But last week I turned in on and could not get past the ominous gray screen and flashing prohibited sign. Photos, documents, music...I was a bit panicked. The guy that runs this business is great :) he's super helpful and very knowledgable. He knew exactly what was wrong with my computer and was able to fix it in like a day, which is great as a student since I depend on my laptop for classes. I had viruses and some missing critical files or something like that...He was also available at late night hours which was also super helpful as a student. I was so happy with how he fixed up my computer that I brought in my fiance's as well since his was overheating. The guy cleaned everything out, got rid of some viruses and the other laptop worked great afterwards as well. My computer had been making loud humming noises for awhile; when I finally got around to fixing it...I decided to go to the Davis Computer Doctor. Once I got there, he immediately had solutions to my problem. He blew out my laptop with a professional blower and uploaded software onto my computer, which I did not have before. He was VERY knowledgeable and friendly. He charges $70/hr, but since I was only there for 15 mins, it was $17. All in all it was a very good experience and I would highly recommend anyone to see him if they have any computer problems. FYI. This business is very very good. A week before Christmas 2018 our PC dies. It was less than a year old. I got quotes from HP and another big business we used in the past. The quotes to "check the PC" (not fix) were $280 and $300. Yikes. We had used this business in the past for simple problem. I decided to call at 7:30 pm to talk. Jamie answered! Jamie was as advertised and more. I gave him a run down on my MacBook Pro from 2010: due to it no longer charging following an entanglement with my dog in my home office. I provided Jamie with my thoughts on the battery, port or adapter being defective after the event. He provided a price to replace the port and asked that I send him the make and model. His next response was that the computer was too old to fix and the motherboard was most likely the culprit. I wanted to go through the checkpoints to ensure my laptop was gone so I asked if he had another charger I could try to see if the adapter was the issue. He said he did and would not charge me (no pun intended) to come by and see if it worked. Lo and behold, the computer charged with a different adapter. He not only provided me with how much it would cost to get a new one, but stopped to think if he had an extra one. He found one, a bit on the dirty side but fully functional, told me how to clear in properly and only charged me $20. I've come to him for help twice now. The first time i had an older MacBook Pro. I believe it was a 2011. I called because I was wanting to sell this laptop, but It wasn't in selling condition. I told him my situation and mentioned that i was trying to resell it and he told me he would clean it out and make it workable for the next person. I called him maybe around 4-6pm (i don't remember) but he answered and said he could get it done later this night! He was very efficient with the process and helped me tremendously with selling this product. And for wiping the laptop and updating the OS System, he charged me a lot less than I thought. Maybe because I've been through a lot of other places who charge an arm and leg to just merely LOOK at things. This has also swayed me from getting things fixed. But because of the computer doctor, these feelings have changed. Fast forward and my own laptop was having problems. I have an early 2014 MacBook Air and I was having space issues. My photo library would never open, I could never save documents, I basically was just browsing the web. I couldn't REALLY use my laptop. I was getting real tired of this so made a call to the computer doctor. It was really close to closing time. I called him about my problem and he said I could bring it by that night!!!. Once I brought it by, he totally understood my problems and said he would have it done the next day! such an irresponsible and unprofessional person! I asked him to fix my computer. After some diagnoses, he said that its water damaged and its unfixable, suggesting me to buy a new laptop. The next day when I went to another computer repairing place I discovered that he broke my battery connector and glued it back without letting me know anything about it. I contacted him regarding the connector and he refuses to take any action by saying that I signed a contract stating he is not responsible for any damages occurred and I could sue him if I want. *the other computer repairing technician was able to fix my water damaged computer within an hour. *he even lied to me saying that he did not touch the battery, he said he used a backup battery when repairing the computer. The hard drive in my Macbook Pro finally died after several years of hard service, after one too many falls (knocked onto a hard floor by the baby). Had considered the Apple Genius Bar 1st, but it was long past warranty, they don't do HD restorations/backups, and the $600+ starting prices for who they recommend with no guarantees, that was a nonstarter. Made me panicky sick to think of losing about a year from my other kid's 1st 2 years of baby photos I'd meant to finish backing up. Hubby used something on hand, as well as command tools to try to get it back, but my user log in password files got corrupted from the fall, and then it got worse as it wouldn't even finish booting up. However, for the meager sum of just $55 and taking just a few days and a Sunday, local hero Jamie managed to get enough data recovery so he could at least back up/transfer all my files to a $50 external hard drive I provided. He even partitioned the new drive so as to back up all my PC and Mac files. You have to make an appointment to drop off and pick up, but that was not difficult and he was very professional, knowledgeable, and an amazing bargain. I came across the computer Dr after a horrific experience in which I had been hacked and scammed. Realizing that something was wrong, I put the scammer on hold, called James of the Computer Dr. In seconds he knew what was occurring, told me to turn off the computer and hang up on the scammer. James drove to my place, got right to the business of uninstalling and blocking computer access to my unit. Then reset and updated while I changed some passwords etc. also advised and assisted in quickly cancelling a credit card. One of the better customer service experiences I can remember. Jaime, thank you very much for talking me off the ledge. My laptop was toast, or so I thought. I called Jaime to see how much a new hard drive, operating system, etc. would cost. He was very understanding, and told me that until he looked at it, he would hold judgement. He explained my assessment of the problem, and related solution, was one of many possible solutions. I dropped my computer off at Jaime's business/house, and he had it over night. He called me the next day to explain that my problem was a minor operating system error, and that the hard drive was fine. I saw an ad for The Computer Doctor at the Davis Little League field a few months ago when my son had a game. I was very apprehensive about calling someone who didn't come recommended as I am a freelance writer and marketing consultant and my life is on my laptop. I was leery of entrusting my livelihood to someone I didn't know. But, my old IT guy moved and I couldn't find anyone by asking around. The Computer Doctor's website isn't particularly sophisticated, so I was still anxious when I called and set up an appointment. Having said all of this it's one of the best calls I've made. I used him for the second time today as I got a nasty virus that entered my Firefox settings and was redirecting all my Internet searches. He solved the problem in 40 minutes at a cost of only $37. The first time he worked on my Dell I had deeper problems with responsiveness. He identified the problem as, primarily, too little RAM, walked me through what to purchase to add more and then returned and installed and checked everything thoroughly. My dad's computer (Windows 10) had a boot failure and he needed to get it fixed or have his data recovered so he could do his taxes (I am out of state and couldn't fix it). I found Computer Doctor online and they had some good reviews so I gave them a call. I was quoted the prices for the various repair scenarios and they were good prices. I then saw on their website that they did in home repairs which was perfect as my dad would have problems taking apart and hooking his computer back up. I called on Friday and he said he had a open appointment the following day. It wasn't an easy repair but Jamie was able to recover all of the data, re-image the OS, and reinstall all of the data during the in house appointment. While he was recovering my dad's computer he gave me the detailed information over the phone of what he was doing and what issues he found. He also took the time to set up some apps and my dad had a fully functional computer and has already started his taxes. i almost hesitate to write this review as to blow the secret. but he's AMAZING. this is a man who will completely fix a computer that's worth fixing for less than half of what other big repair offices will- upgrade your ram for $10, swipe your hard drive for $40 or so, it's unbelievable. i go to him regularly and places like "no data, no charge" in sacramento make me laugh because they'd do the same things for $150 or $200. HAHA. just DONT go to anyone else ever. geek squad will take your wallet before this man completely replaces your hard drive for $50. you will not need to bring any peripherals he has all of them already. now, the one drawback. it can be a bit tricky dropping off your machine and picking it up- he works at home , which means that that this is not a warehouse with automated customer service and people who are on the clock to answer your calls from 9am to 7pm, etc. other than that, there is no reason to take your pc anywhere else (he has a mac guy, but i haven't had need yet). he is honest, resourceful and nice. i've had a terrabyte or so of personal data before and i was initially hesitant with it, but i saw for myself that i needn't be. read more

We've used him to be our primary IT person in our business (Medical Office) for over 2 years and he's always able to handle any issues that come up. I've had him get our personal computers running smoothly with periodic check ups / upgrades and advice as to what software upgrades that won't bog down operations (Such as advice on whether to upgrade Parallels on a MacBook Pro running Yosemite 10.10.5 while my Parallels set up is Windows 7 - which I have to have Windows for some work based applications that don't run on OS X ) A lot of computer shops don't have enough experience on both platforms to know quite what you are asking. My laptop has needed repairs a few times and I've taken it to Computer Doctor each time. Once my screen was jumpy and it was blinking on and off as if it had a virus. James was able to repair it in just a couple of days and for a reasonable price. I have a 3 year old and she cracked my laptop screen and damaged my camera. James was very honest and let me know that it cost more to repair the hardware than to just get a web cam. He also checked to see if the camera wasn't working due to a software issue. In the end he ordered a great web cam for my computer as the issue was not software related. He only charged me for the camera in the end and no additional fees.
