My bike hadn't been serviced in a really long time, I mean a really loooong time…read more Having driven past Deens Garage for many years I took the plunge stopped popped in, observing all COVID precautions. The staff were attentive as I described my bikes many issues and they were mire than confident they could bring new life to my tired bike, we will set it up right for you, was the claim! A date was agreed as to when to bring it in. I dropped my bike off the following week and then waited for the call to be told all the things that were wrong with it, it was an extensive list but I knew it was coming!! After the call confirming all the things that needed changing and adjusting, mainly changing in my bikes case! The price was confirmed and actually I didn't think it was as bad as I had expected given the many years and hard miles my bike has covered. Upon collection I was pleased that my bike had actually been, not only mechanically restored but it had been give know a good cleaning!! They had the old bits they had replaced, apparently they had some negative experiences when people come to collect bikes and disagree with certain items being replaced. I was extremely pleased with the service as my bike rides like new!! If you need a new bike or have one that needs servicing and you can get to Deens Garage I highly recommend them.

Really slow ponderous service. 3 people in the shop and only one seeming to serve a queue of people…read moreout the door. The rest chatting and seeming to just shuffle around in the back room. Took 20 minutes to be served after waiting 6 weeks to fix a broken bottom bracket and crank. When I left they hadn't bothered to check my tires were inflated so I couldn't cycle it home. Avoid the place, it's amateur hour customer service.

Girlfriend's birthday approaches, so the mad rush to find a present commences!…read more Now she strategically dropped many hints that she wanted a vintage bike, so i figured this year would be easy, until i remembered she is quite the picky one... After trolling through the interwebbings to the point I had enough bike knowledge to work at halfords, I found a place that sold a bike that was cheap enough for my wallet, yet didnt look like it ;) The only problem is that the website looked worse than my year 7 IT word art PowerPoint project! Im sure nowadays in year 7 kids are actually building the next facebook! Not to be disheartened by the website, I decided to find out where they were located. Luckily they were only a 25min drive away, so instead of risking my credit card details being sent to a Mongolian 'prince' im order to 'help' him give me a reward, I decided to visit the store. Upon arriving, you enter a mini industrial estate (watch out guys, ur tom tom will actually lead you to the road after the estate entrance). The estate looks like an abandoned area, but if you make your way all the way to the back, you will find a little door where the shop entrance is. All I can say is that the website does not do the company any justice. The staff there are really friendly and know their stuff. You can test ride bikes, and they will assemble bikes that are not on display just for you to look at. I spent the whole day there trying to decide which bike to get my girlfriend (the things I do for her!). Once I did, it took me another 20min to fit it into my 3 door ford focus, lol! When you buy a bike, they offer a free service for your bike after 6 months, so you can pop in to make sure your bike is still in working order. All in all, good shop, not so good website. PS, in the end after all that, she didn't like the colour, lol

(Sorry it's a bit long, but please read)…read more A little while ago in May 2013, I needed to buy something for my bike. After a quick Google search, I found the part I needed on Discount Bicycles. It was the cheapest I could find and it said that it was in Stock on their website. I placed the order and paid using PayPal, the order page I was on said the item would arrive in 3-5 working days. The first thing that I thought was a bit odd, is that I didn't get a confirmation email of my order. This meant I didn't know the order number or when it would be dispatched. At the time, I thought nothing of it. A week passed and still I had not yet received my order. I pinged off an email to the company asking where it was. A couple of days later I still had not received a response, so I deiced to give them a call. The man I spoke to wasn't very helpful. I asked for my order number, which he gave me begrudgingly. I also asked for my order confirmation to be emailed to me (that never happened) and inquired about when I would receive what I paid for. I think he plucked a number out of thin air and said it would be sent in 1 working day, and that I would have it by the weekended. Needless to say it didn't arrive by the weekend, I gave it a couple more days and rang them back. I spoke to the same person as before; however, this time he was very rude and didn't want anything to do with me or my order. I asked again where it was, he said it was out of stock with them and their suppliers and would be another SIX weeks before I received it! I questioned him on what he said before and also asked why it said it was in stock on the website. He said something along the lines of "I think you better leave it now, I can't be bothered with this". When I began to express how unimpressed I was with his customer service, he simply slammed the phone down on me. I sent a further email that same day, saying what had happened and that I wanted a full refund so I could take my business elsewhere. A few days later and this email was not responded to. Again I called up, this time I phoned a different department. I asked for a complete refund of my money. I also asked why my emails had not been responded to. They just said, "oh they must have slipped the system". Thankfully I did receive a refund within 24 hours. In total, this whole thing took about 3 weeks; from the day I placed the order to getting a refund. This was 3 weeks off the bike! Nobody minds problems, it's how they're dealt with. I was very reasonable with my requests and didn't get angry or shout at them on the phone. I believe I was treated unfairly and not as a customer. They should have informed me straight away when they knew it was out of stock and not let me contact them. Discount Bicycles DO NOT deserve anyone's business and shouldn't be trading as a bike shop. I am very surprised they haven't closed down already, judging by other peoples reviews of similarly bad experiences. I will never be buying from them again and unless something is drastically done about they're customer service I don't think may other people will reorder from them in the future. My recommendation, order from the bigger and better companies like Wiggle, Evans and Chain Reaction.
