I called Tinley Auto Repair wednesday at around 5 pm and they informed me the key was mislabeled as a toyota, when it is a subaru, and that caused confusion. I was understanding about that, and asked about having my key delivered to the body shop. I was told that they would contact my bodyshop and have the key delivered. I visited my bodyshop thursday at around 10 am and was told that Tinley Auto Repair did not contact them yet. i called Tinley Auto Repair and was told that "We are a small shop, and we only have 5 people working here, i dont know when the key can be delivered" to which i understand that, but i was informed my key would be delivered the day by them, and that they were going to contact my bodyshop. she took my number down and told me she would call me back. I called back at 11:30 and gave my name and asked "i am just trying to figure out whats going on" to which the response was "uh, with what?" i asked "when my keys will be delivered" and i was put on hold, and then she came back and explained the situation from the beginning, which she had already explained to me. I asked when my key would be delivered, and she told me "can you stop? i dont know anything about this, i was just informed of this, this morning" when that is not true, i had called the day before and spoke with her and was told my keys would be delivered for me. she rudely told me the keys would be delivered and then hung up, i called my bodyshop and was informed that Tinley Auto Repair was asking them to come pick up my keys, and now suddenly they are a 4 man shop not a 5 man shop?? also they called my bodyshop AFTER i called them at 10 am. i called again at around 2 to confirm my keys were delivered, and i was told yes and then hung up on. thursday, i left a google review stating my experience and the rude customer service. the company responded, with what i feel is a dishonest response. I do appreciate you taking the time to explain how my keys were mislabeled, and that its not your fault! because you know of course its not your fault. but to say that you guys handled everything yourself, and that my bodyshop appreciated you in this is craaaazzzyyyy. and nothing addressing that attitude on the phone.... so if you value any form of customer service or trust, do not come here! or dont get into an accident in tinley park :)

Around 3pm, I called to see how the work was going, I was told they would call me back. Received a call back that the car was ready for pick-up. The window was fixed no parts needed just a bent regulator in the door panel. When we returned home, we noticed the door panel was NOT installed correctly (SLOPPY WORK) and the top of the window sill had a little grease on it I had to clean with a cloth. I called them back and to let them know the door panel was not installed correctly and would be back in the morning. We returned to Tinley Auto the next morning and the door panel was correctly installed in (10 minutes). On the way home, I stopped for fuel and pushed the gas button on the lower left driver's side door panel, the VW trunk opened. When I pushed the trunk button, the gas door popped opened. SOOOOOOOOOO, I had to call them "AGAIN" and mentioned the wiring wasn't hooked up correctly to the door panel. Drove back to Tinley Auto so they could correctly hook up the wiring to the gas and trunk buttons. I mentioned that they should knock off some money I paid for labor and this aggrivation. I haven't seen any discount for what I paid to get this LOUSY SERVICE! I WOULD NEVER USE TINLEY AUTO AGAIN AND I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE, THEY DO SLOPPY WORK!

When I got there I felt like I was sitting in a 70s car shop with the wood panel walls and black and white tv and a few older gentlemen behind the counter. It seemed to be a busy location - the phone was constantly ringing - which I'm assuming is good? When I was unable to get ahold of anyone to pick me up from the repair shop, one of the men offered to call his wife so she could drive me home - how sweet! Visibility is required in order to gain the best possible understanding of what one pays for. Unfortunately, for me, Sonomatic was unable/unwilling to accommodate what is a generally accepted business practice. Although things have changed since John S. from La Grange went there (i.e. - they'll conduct a diagnostic for free now), the fact that they were quoting $1880 for a leaking solenoid pack on a transmission was extreme. Where did Sonematic get this $1880 from? (NOTE: I would later go to Mike Zoppa at Odgen Car Care. He quoted a little over $400 for the exact same service. And I only told him about the "Check Engine" light!) I asked to see an invoice showing those charges by line item (e.g. "Cost of Parts", "Services rendered", "Labor" and "Taxes"). All I wanted was justification, by specifics, of how they came to that number - as would be expected from any other established business. The associate shrugged off my direct question, referring instead to their 60 year tenure. Okay, congratulations, that still doesn't answer my question! Drifting away from the poor customer service, I would have never known about the leaking solenoid pack had I not recorded the discussions on my work phone - again, this information is not on their quote papers! A breakdown of their charges was something that I had requested prior to picking up my car. They didn't object to it at the time. However, when I went to pick up the car, they didn't have that paper ready, and were generally dismissive about not having it ready. No apologies offered, or explanations given! If a fair question about a customer concern shakes one up so, then I'm frankly surprised that Sonomatic remains in business. My husband literally just paid $220 for the lever to be fixed so he calls the mechanic to explain the issue. The mechanic literally says "So what do you want me to do?" That is extremely unprofessional as my husband was just saying that he shouldn't have to repay to fix something that broke less than a week later. The mechanic did say to bring the car in, however, my husband was just trying to confirm that he wouldn't be charged again as we don't live close to the shop. The mechanic said "well I don't work for free" Get some respect when you speak to customers. No one was asking for free service - just to right the wrong. I 1000% do not recommend this mechanic.
