Please, let me tell you how wonderful Nursing Referral Service is!!…read more In 2012 needed some part-time, in-home care for my mother-in-law (MIL), who was diagnosed with dementia in the mid-2000s. My elderly father-in-law (FIL) was simply incapable of caring for her properly. NRS assigned us a wonderful caregiver, Nana, who took care of Mom for about a year before Mom got too unpredictable and violent, and we moved her into a nearby dementia facility in 2014. By then, Nana had moved away, and Emma had taken over as the caregiver. Emma was sooooo amazing!! She took care of Dad, who still thought he was doing everything himself, including his grocery shopping, his laundry, driving him to his favorite restaurant for lunch, and to the local mall to take a walk, the grocery store, the bank, and/or the post office. And she took him to visit Mom in the nursing home once or twice a day, feeding him lunch and dinner (eventually breakfast, too) as he himself grew less competent, mentally and physically. Emma was always kind, considerate, and respectful of him, and made him feel like he was still in charge. Additionally, Emma monitored Mom's needs in the nursing home, as well, buying her Depends, wipes, Sobe beverages, and any other items the nursing home needed for her care. She was truly a Godsend for our family, and we trusted her 100% and relied upon her judgment and experience. In addition to Emma, during the last year or so of Dad's life, we had other caregivers from NRS filling in during the hours that Emma wasn't with him. Ami cared for Dad on Sundays, so Emma could have one day off a week. Ami was wonderful, and gave Dad terrific care, too. Another caregiver we thought very highly of was Wendy, who cared for Dad when Emma took a vacation. (Only one in all the years that she was Mom's and Dad's caregiver!!) There were other caregivers who filled in when Dad's "regulars" were absent, too, and all went out of their way to help Dad get used to them, so as to not confuse him. Were it not for NRS and their outstanding caregivers, we would have had to have placed Dad in a nursing home, something which he always declared he would NOT do willingly, as he "wanted to die in his own house." Dad passed away at 95 years old in December. Emma cared for him until the very end, and she was right there with the rest of the family at his memorial service. She, as well as the other caregivers, and the office staff, Doreen, Vinsene, and Bathsheba, gave us the ability to follow Dad's wishes, and allow him to remain in his home when he passed away. We will always be grateful to them for their assistance... We couldn't recommend this company any higher!! They are caring and compassionate, and they screen their employees to be sure they are a good fit for the family.

While other agencies never even called me back, Nursing Referral Service found two nurses who were available almost immediately and who were incredibly caring, kind, thoughtful, responsive, and talented. After consulting with our family physician we determined that we were looking for help for my…read moremother because she needed assistance dealing with her daily needs. After hiring a consultant who was familiar with many of the options available to us in the Northern Virginia area they compiled a list. After reviewing the list, we started at the very top. Tysons Woods was at the top of the list. We called and scheduled a tour of your location on Central Avenue. Upon entering the location, all of your employees we encountered were very friendly and knowledgeable of the potential needs my wife may require after a brief history was shared. One tip we were given by our consultant was to be aware of any smells when we visited the home. Smells of uncleanliness or cleaning products used to cover bad smells were a warning sign. To our pleasant surprise, we did not find any objectionable smells, no smells of cleaning products, just the smell of fresh cooking food on the stove preparing for lunch. The home looked impeccably clean and neat. When meeting some of the other residents, they looked just as neat. They were clean, dressed in clean clothes, and enjoying their day in the living room. They were cooking lunch and the place smelled wonderful. No boxes or frozen meals here, just good home cooking. We decided to place her in your care and we are very happy with our decision. She was very well cared for. She was always dressed in clean clothes, her undergarments were clean and dry. She really enjoyed the food at your place. We never questioned her safety while at your facility. We rested well knowing that you all were taking care of her. You would be doing a disservice to your loved one if you did not go and check out Tysons Woods as a possibility.

Our mom was closely watched over and cared for by the most professional ,dedicated and loving staff. We are very grateful for the loving care given to our Mom. Heart Matters Home Health Care is truly a team of angels led by the most compassionate, caring, and…read morepatient person that I know. They took care of my parents for more than six years. My mom had rapidly advancing dementia, and my dad was her tireless caregiver. He was also a 100% disabled veteran. We initially began with their respite care services to give my dad a much-needed break a couple of times a week. As my mom's mental condition and my dad's physical health declined, Heart Matters seamlessly transitioned to providing more days, some nights, and eventually round-the-clock care. Mom and Dad loved them, and Cindy and her team loved them back. After my dad passed away in 2000, the Heart Matters team became my mom's sole caregivers for three and a half years until she also passed. My brothers and I lived far away and could not have asked for better care for our parents. The team at Heart Matters held my mom's hand as she died, while we were still on airplanes trying to get there. We owe them a debt of gratitude that is impossible to repay. Their dedication, professionalism, and genuine care for our parents' well-being were extraordinary. I wholeheartedly recommend Heart Matters Home Health Care to anyone in need of compassionate and comprehensive home health care services.

My husband…read moreand I were completely overwhelmed by the Washington, DC day care machine and really wanted a nanny once our child starts needing care. We found a neighbor to start a nanny share with and then dove head first into scouring the internet/care.com to find a nanny. What an overwhelming process! Then we found Philia and it just seemed too good to be a true - an organization that finds the nanny for you? That does all the pre-check work (background checks, interviews)? That handles all the administrative end of nannying (workers comp, insurance, payroll taxes)? How could it get better? Well it does. After a few emails with owner Kira, and then our initial in-person meeting, my husband and I were thrilled. Kira is passionate about her company and the services Philia offers and her response time & customer service are top notch. We have already met with and secured a nanny for our soon-to-be-arriving first child all thanks to Kira & Philia. Kira listens to your needs and wants and then she provides you with nannies that fit the bill. She takes SO MUCH of the time & stress out of nanny searching and we really couldn't be happier that we have started working with them for our childcare. Philia really, truly is DC's best kept secret right now!

Danielle S was very nice, and I would be happy for her to come again. It sounds like she has good experience for the role. We had one incident where she took out 3 colors of play dough and was making shapes with the stamps......... ON THE CARPET. She didn't realize she was creating the marks (leaving play dough stuck in the carpet) and didn't realize it was a carpet (she said she thought it was a play mat). I think we all make mistakes. She apologized. She didn't blame my son. He has never done play dough anywhere on the floor or carpet, and never used more than one color. I read on the internet that one needs to wait for it to dry before trying to remove it. I contacted the company later that day and very politely asked "what are we going to do about it if it doesn't come off?" The admin lady blamed my child knowing nothing about the situation. She said the kid probably told her to do it... and more blaming things, which were completely not true. She said she would speak to a supervisor and get back to me. She, nor anyone did get back with me. That's very unprofessional with not covering for your employee's mistake, and getting back to me.
