A large neighborhood grocery store with a large selection in products both Hispanic and American. It's a great place to go if you are in a pinch and their selection of spices and produce is the bomb. They also sell these little containers of sliced fruit like mango, for example, sprinkled with pepita or tajin and with a little slice of lime on the side to squeeze over everything...a delicious snack for summertime, for sure! The prices of the produce is a highlight of this store as well. The price of avocados is very competitive and at least a good $0.50 cheaper (usually) than big chain stores like Shoprite and Wegmans.
Now for the negatives. The meat, I've gone there two times now to find that the meat (both times it was whole chicken) was past the expiration date, yuck. That's enough to keep me away from that section for good. Secondly, there is one person there, a younger woman who seems like one of the managers maybe? I'm not really sure what her position is, definitely more high up, but anyhow, she treats the employees like garbage. Yelling at them in front of customers and just being very nasty in general. I haven't seen her in awhile, thankfully, but how awkward to go there and witness that...sort of makes you want to head out the door and bring business elsewhere if that's how the employees are treated. But like I said, I haven't seen her around in awhile so maybe she left or isn't involved anymore with this location.
All in all, Compare is a nice addition to the neighborhood with some room for improvement. read more
