They took great care of of my dachshund and the front desk staff was extremely Friendly. They held him when I needed to sign papers and they were amazing. The vet that helped my dog was very kind and professional. I am so thankful for this clinic.

DO NOT GO HERE! Horrible experiance here while having my Dog euthanized. One of the vet techs handled my weak old dog roughly to the point he was yelping loudly. When the actual veterinarian came back in the room with my Dog he was completely limp and sedated to the point he didnt even look alive. They didn't tell me they were going to do that. The vet then quickly euthanized him. This was a serious problem for me how they handled the whole situation especially when i told them i want to be with my Dog through the whole thing and I feel i didn't get to be with my Dog in his last moments because of what they did. When i confronted them calmly about the problem I had they were very rude and told me that I'm a problem for having a problem. The vet tech i had the problem with wouldn't even speak to me and the rest of the staff were rude except one nice girl at the front desk. Vet techs and workers here are incompetent rude and careless! After doing some research I found this clinic has horrible reviews and the owner/ veterinarian has a bad reputation for animal abuse!! Lots of similar experiences here I'm reading. I'm very upset with the experiance i had here while going through one of the hardest times of my life putting my childhood dog of 16 years to rest.

Daniel Koller screamed and yelled at myself and my bestfriend, whom accompanied my dog and I to an appt. He tried to physically intimidate two females while terrifying my dog. I asked him to please lower his voice multiple times, as my dog was fearful, but he refused and continued with the hostility until I had to pick up my 85lb, injured dog to get he and ourselves away from the situation. The other male staff in the room stood by and watch all of it happen, as well as joined in on things the vet could yell at us for. I was not given my after visit paperwork and called the clinic after having left; the rest of the staff decided it a fun game to not only refuse to answer any of my medical questions about my dog that had major surgery three days prior, but to put me on hold and not come back or just hang up on me. These ppl are for the money, not for the animals. This establishment needs to be shut down, not only for malpractice and the safety of the animals that are brought here, but also so no one gets treated as poorly as MANY have by all staff. BOLI needs to and will be notified. PETA needs to and will be notified. The veterinary board WILL be notified. Picketers need to be outside this place to stop unknowing citizens from placing their pets and themselves potentially in harms way. We all need to speak up, TOGETHER to make this happen. My name is, Angie Paletta, if anyone else has had similar issues with staff or aggression issues with the sociopath, Daniel Koller, please contact me over Facebook, as I would appreciate your testimony and welcome the power of unity in the masses.

My Simba. Last Seen at Companion Pet Clinic in Gresham. Lost by staff members.

On March 21, 2023 my husband and self took our fur baby Simba to Companion Pet Clinic in Gresham Oregon. Drop off was at 8:15 and they said we could pick up at 2:30. We were there at 2:15. We were standing at the front desk listening to the girl explai the pain meds when I saw my Simba running like a crazy cat with a CONE around his neck straight out the front door. My hubby immediately ran to see where he went. I ran out as well. After about 30 min I noticed not one member of that clinic was out helping us search for Simba. I went inside and started screaming at the two girls in the front telling them to get out here and help us find Simba. This was their fault. Kevin comes out for 30min or more then goes back in. I went in there 3 times begging them to help us. After 3 hours of searching I went back to vet and asked them to please call my hubby since I had lost my phone while searching. They then ask me to go into a room where my hubby joined me. Kevin walks in saying he gave us a full refund, gave us a card with his personal number and said call him for anything and then stated their insurance company would be in contact with us. I asked what are we going to do. Kevin said they would put food traps out for Simba and there was a 1%chance in finding him. We went back at 7pm to find NO TRAPS out. Nothing. We searched for 3.5 hours. No Simba. Next morning I called Kevins phone and asked him if they had put out traps. He said yes they had. I said where because we were there and saw no traps He then stated Multonomah Animal shelter was putt traps out. I called the shelter. Shelter states they don't put traps out. One lie after another. No apologies. We hire a tracker. No Simba. The vet could've hired one but didn't. They have no concern for your pet. it's a assembly line. If you love your fur baby don't bring here. Just imagine if they lost your baby. They will not help you. They now refuse my phone calls. Yes some say mistakes happen. But you must make that mistake right. Simba is my support baby. He's not a cat he's our family member. This is the worst veterinary and I am suing them. My goal is to shut this horrible place down so they can't help anyone nor any pet again. You ripped Simba from us. He's out there alone 45 min from our home and you don't care. Shame.. Shame..Shame Zero stars if I could...

We were very pleased when we first visited the new office. The office was updated and the vet ( Dr Roth) had an engaging personality. We gave her our trust. .Our next experience at the time of surgery was drastically different. Our initial visit with her was for a routine exam. The dogs were acting well. She noted that they needed dental care and quoted $500 per dog for cleaning and polishing under anesthesia. We understood that she might need to perform extractions if closer exam warranted. We were shocked to get a call while they were under anesthesia with her telling us that the situation was terrible and quoted $1700 to remove the teeth from the first dog. She went on with scare tactics about how much pain the dogs were in ("even under anesthesia they were responding to touch in a painful manner"-- {which raised the question of how good the anesthesia was} ). The teeth were grossly infected and in essence her strong recommendation would be extraction of the 13 teeth. She offered no options or alternatives other than to abort the procedure. She then asked " how much is the most you are willing to pay?" We ended up in a negotiation over the phone essentially with a gun to our heads with the overwhelming message from her being we would be terrible owners if we didn't agree to her terms. We eventually agreed on $1000.00 Amazingly when she operated on the next dog who historically has worse teeth she only needed to remove a small fraction of the number. We can't help but wonder, was the first dog over treated or the second dog undertreated?. It didn't take long for us to talk to others in the business to hear that in fact there were options,.

The reasons were two-fold: 1) Said "chain" clinic, was virtually impossible to get appointments scheduled at. 2) Said "chain" clinic not only charged a lot more $$$ for everything, but constantly and consistently trying to up-sell. Fern Hill was a breath of fresh air! Less-expensive (although not the cheapest option I had explored), they offered a level of professionalism that I hadn't witnessed at the other veterinary clinic in 10+ years, never tried "upselling" me on unnecessary services, especially when it came time to discuss end of life for my dog, and upon hearing about my dog's crossing the rainbow bridge, made a donation to Fences for Fido in honor of my dog. (While said other place offered condolences upon having numerous pets having passed, just the obligatory verbal condolences -- of which nothing wrong with that, but I thought this was really touching by Fern Hill).

If they changed her personality forever, I am going to be extremely upset. Mostly because there is NOTHING we can do about it. We had a cat once who was given a piece of a food from a kitchen table, and he was never the same ever again. The vet kept calling her "food motivated" but the thing is, she never was before this moment. I felt like I didn't have the power to say anything because she was the "expert." I will never make this mistake again with my baby. Please Ms. Vet, GET CONSENT before you give someone else's animal treats like this. You DID NOT ask for our permission, and we felt trapped and silenced by your nervous energy and non stop talking. Even if you are the expert, that doesn't give you the right to override how other people choose to raise their pet, or assume they want your opinion. We came for medical care, plain and simple.

When that is no longer the case and tough decisions need to be made, we had an excellent experience with Compassionate Care to say goodbye to our pup. Let me start by saying that every administrative and customer service interaction was timely, clear, and concise. The last thing you want in this situation are delays and confusion. Once I reached out through the contact link on their website, the email response with details about their different services happened within 10 minutes. An intake call to make arrangements for a euthanasia visit at our home was answered by a human and only took a few minutes. They recommend making a reservation 48-hours in advance, but we were put on a wait-list and we moved up our reservation when things opened up. I appreciate that you can reschedule (with four hours advance notice) as well. They have a variety of services, Eco-friendly cremation, and memorial pieces. Everything was arranged in advance, including payment through their web portal, so when the vet arrived for the appointment it was all about our boy and his (and our) comfort. Dr. Wilson clearly walked us through the process, gave us time to say goodbye, provided options, and was a wonderful partner in the process. Cremation is done at a facility in N. Portland, but they have the option of picking up the cremains in Oregon City which was more convenient for us. Having gone through this experience with another pet where we took them to the vet's office, I would highly recommend this option for the pet's comfort. It just felt better saying goodbye in a familiar space surrounded by love.

And an even longer two or three weeks before that fighting to get him to eat. Like others here, Kevin was closer to me than my human family. I was busy with the doctors in ER so my partner called in to make the appointment to ease my stress. He said I was primary contact, but it was difficult to make that clear all the way until the day so communications were continually going to him. Not a big deal in the overall picture, but it didn't make the experience any easier. This was my cat for 8 years before I met my partner and while he loved my baby, I was the one with the lifelong bond. The doctor showed up within the time window allotted. We both found her a little cold. I felt like we were just a job and everything was done by number. My BF picked up my cat and carried him to me, but the doctor said we should do paperwork first which resulted in me putting him down after building up to do what I deemed impossible. I was emotional and crying. This really should somehow be handled before the visit. There were corrections to be made on the form. I was about to lose my baby and this only made me aware that I was filling out his death warrant. I am utterly heartbroken. I know holding your baby until the last minute is catharsis and closure, but I found it traumatizing. His passing was peaceful at least. Everyone's goodbye will be unique, and my example will not necessarily match what others experience. Everyone we spoke to was professional. I just wasn't feeling the compassion.
