Man I really want to like this place. The location is convenient, the veterinarian was nice. The front desk staff are incredibly rude and condescending though. I've taken my dog and my cat both here. When I took my dog, I was making small talk with one of the staff while she was rooming us. She complimented my dog's haircut. I said thanks, in my past job I was a dog groomer. She side eyed me and got quiet after and the whole vibe was weird from then on. I took my cat here when she got hit by a car and needed some work on her teeth. They nickel and dimed EVERYTHING. Ended up going to another clinic with friendlier service and more reasonable pricing. Just now, I called to get some pricing on a wellness plan for a senior cat I'm adopting this weekend. The person who answered the phone FLEW through options and pricing, despite me repeatedly asking her to slow down because I was trying to write it down.. not very helpful. Will probably be looking for another vet going forward. read more

Veterinarians are now firmly adopting the ridiculous human-healthcare stupidity of selling services rather than providing services. I had been to their office for an issue with my dog in February for a full exam and a fecal costing a whopping $89. A fecal does NOT cost that much money! My dog has anxiety issues with everything -- cars, vets, other dogs, etc. Two months later, with a full exam in February, today, April 15th, all I needed was a rabies vaccination for living requirements in another state. Do you think I could escape the ridiculous protocol that these people made my extremely anxious dog go through to simply get a rabies shot and the accompanying documentation? No! Dr. Tompkins has no regard for what a dog is going through, nor for the owner. She HAD to prod and poke and listen to the heart when all I needed was a damn rabies shot. You know, there's something very wrong with this stupidity. I sincerely hope this review makes people question this process. BTW, the staff continued to push additional vaccinations, medications, and other treatments when none were required. This is how they make their money. Dogs do NOT need to be vaccinated every year of their very short lives. Dogs actually don't need rabies vaccinations every three years, but it has become such a racket -- politically. If no one was so brainwashed to take their dogs into a veterinary clinic for yearly vaccinations, how ever would vet clinics exist? read more

I've been going here for quite some time, maybe 15 years or so. At one point we had 4 dogs at the same time under their care (we were fostering) Our two large breed dogs are now under their care currently although we're considering switching. The pros: it's local and the staff is friendly. The cons: it's rare that I can get the help I need when I need it. They've never had same day or even next day appointments when I've needed them, leaving me in a bind or to seek urgent help elsewhere. We've also felt a bit nickeled and dimed when it comes to vaccinations, exams and blood panels they require. I've spoke with other trusted partners at facilities we groom and board our pups at and it sounds like other providers are far more flexible. They are good for routine, pre scheduled care... when I say good I just mean they can schedule it out to make it convenient for you. But like I said, cost, same day/next day appointment needs, and more stringent requirements seem to be the cons here. read more

We also recently adopted a kitten, and based on the positive experience, we scheduled him to be seen right away as well. It saddens me that after over 12 years of going to Mt. Hood Pet Medical, I have been looking for another Vet Clinic. I live in Gresham and previously they were the only clinic I would use in Gresham, my Dogs are not only treasured companions but worth several thousand dollars, and their care is paramount, cost not being a consideration. Unfortunately, the follow-through and attention to detail are no longer at the standard they once were. Not sure what has been causing that, maybe complacency but I don't pay top dollar for a complacent clinic. So I can no longer recommend Mt. Hood Pet Medical, Perhaps they will get back to being the PROS they used to be, unfortunately right now they are overpriced and under performing. read more

We took our dog here to treat an ear infection during the pandemic, and our doctor was absolutely amazing and so was our vet tech! The vet tech took our dog from our car and my dog seemed so happy to go with her, she was great with him. The vet was done super quickly even after doing tests to find out what was wrong with his ears. She gave us such a nice and helpful call to explain what was going on, how to use the medicine we need, and a comprehensive explanation of our bill. They gave us a call a week later to ask how our pup was doing and even sent a thank you letter for choosing them as our vet, such wonderful, over-the-top service! Thanks so much to everyone at Mt. I have no experience on which to rate the level of care, here's why: Made an appointment. Paid the $150 deposit - no problem, that is becoming an industry standard. (I had called two other vets, one not taking new clients, the other booked out for 2 months.) Got a reminder email 5 days prior, got a reminder text 3 days prior (responded Yes), got another text reminder text AND phone call 1 day prior. This got annoying. It also should have been a red flag. Show up at 8am, was told they don't provide that service. Many apologies offered/given, but that is really, really not good enough. One of the employees did offer to call some other providers and gave me some suggestions on places that might have same-day availability. It was an effort at least. My $150 deposit was returned. 2 Stars. So at 8:15 I am sitting in the drive-thru at Starbucks, searching and calling other vets and my phone rings. It is someone from Mt Hood Pet Medical calling to inform me that my pet has "missed its appointment." (Insert volcano-head emoji.) The right hand does not know what the left hand is doing here currently. In fact, the right hand may not even know what the right hand itself is doing. I hope they get their act together and turn this around as it looks like a nice facility in a good location and there is certainly a need/market for vets in this area. The staff are not friendly, and when I told the front desk about how unfriendly they didn't seemed in really much care as far as the doctors go. I had to wait a very long time and then they left the room and I guess forgot I was in there $125. I was charged to see the doctor and that was just to see the doctor that's not including medicine. they gave me a prescription and I was getting it filled few minutes later I needed the prescription again. Apparently my doctor was out for a few days. No one would approve my prescription so I couldn't get it filled there for my cat that has upper respiratory problems started deteriorate. I told them that any doctor should be able to help when another doctors out but they didn't seem to care. I told him that I will have to go to a different. veterinarian he said that you're that your choice like no big deal I will never go back there. I was told that it was a good place to take your animals but apparently they change so much that it wasn't what it was before if you don't care about the animal, then you don't need to be in the animal business of taking care of them. well, the doctor called me back and was unwilling to give my cat a prescription that they had given me three months prior. They wouldn't give me my prescription again unless I came in and paid him another $75 and I tried to explain to them that it only been a few months, but she didn't care. She kept talking over me and I couldn't get a word in edgewise and she said I was yelling at her and I was getting upset only because that she wasn't listening to me. He's people are horrible they don't care about your pet. They just want the money shame on them shame on Dr. Hair shame on them don't go to them cause they. If I could give them minus five stars, I would! The receptionists, all of them, are rude and condescending. If you are 10 minutes early, they won't let you in. If you are 8 minutes late, they won't let you in. When they do let you in, you have to wait in the wating room for 10-15 minutes, so this "being late" crap is just that! Crap!! This has happened to me now three times. When I got upset at having to reschedule, they accused me of raising my voice. NOTHING IN THE WORLD GETS MY GOAT THAN TRULY CRAPPY CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! For you and your pets I relay this information for I will never darken their door again. Prior to entering you'll find a flea ridden visually disgusting pee pad of a yard for your pets relief. The only positive note is that the clientele clean up what they can. Other than that I find it disturbing to let my dog walk on it and get fleas ! Which unfortunately she did ( fortunately my dog's on Bravecto ) . Inside the processing center after years of human customer exclusion I felt barely tolerated. My suggestion of my pets problem was mocked the vet and employee with an Eye Roll and statement - You can find a myriad of dubious diagnosis on the internet . I had read the information in the Veterinarians Merck Manual Professional Edition on Dogs. Information on my pets problem that I called in , had not been passed on to the vet ( a ongoing problem ). Thus , while you are there these young vets are consumed by peering into the computer screen. I was explaining the various symptoms and my pets life at home to the back of the vets heads for a good deal of the time - Ugh. The exit - card or cash ( your card information / numbers are permanently kept in their system - not good unless your a hacker ). Their printed information only pertains to the COST of procedures and medicine prescribed. Nothing about diagnosis , what to do , what to expect , .... - ugh. Only the most basic of information is printed on the pill containers. I okayed a blood panel . I didn't hear from the vet after that $300 blood panel nor did I receive any information other than the COST 300$ . NO INFORMATION - UGH ! Prior I've had competent vets that know my pets diagnosis upon arrival . They have both diagnostic and treatment printouts for me of what I'm expected to do to successfully treat my pet at home. We were very pleased with the service we received from Mt. Hood Pet Hospital! Our pup (Gizmo) was in desperate needs of medication for his anxiety especially during this holiday week. We called and I spoke with the receptionist (I wish I remembered her name) but she was so pleasant, well-spoken, and had a great attitude and calming nature over the phone! She was able to get our pup in same day at the last time slot available for the day. We live about 3-5 minutes from the vet's office, which is an added bonus for us. We were greeted with smiles and check-in process was quick and easy. We were roomed immediately after the check-in process by one of the front desk staff members. We probably waited no more than 10 minutes after our scheduled appointment time to be seen by the MD. We saw Dr. Julian Lackey and he was a delight. He sat on the floor with our pup to get to his level and really took the time to do an analysis/prognosis on our pup for a wellness check up along with the reason for our visit. He was very kind, gentle, and easy-going. He went over each step of our visit and took the time to make sure we agreed with his treatment plan/prognosis for our pup and if we had any questions or concerns. He ensured if we needed anything to give his office a call and made sure we would be taken care of. We were then greeted by his medical assistant, Megan, and she was an absolute delight! Very sweet, kind, and overall wonderful attitude! She reiterated the course of treatment for our pup and made sure we were fully aware of all the questions we had for his after visit. We couldn't be anymore thankful and grateful for this great clinic! Thank you Mt. Hood Pet Hospital for your hospitality, kindness, and great attitude from beginning to end! The female doctor there doesn't care about anything besides money. My cat was diagnosed with asthma by their male doctor. My next visit was with the female. She immediately went for the kill. She started suggesting several different ideas that cost would cost a arm, leg, and possibly my first born. $500 for this and $300 for that. And I'll be damn if she didn't refuse to fill his asthma medication unless I was in compliance with her suggestions. This is a medication that would allow him to breathe and stop the 4/5 asthma attacks he would have daily. Fortunately, I was able to get him into vetco total care at Petco. That doctor suggested a medication that was exploratory because his symptoms could be the result of a lung worm. The $50 medication that wasn't anywhere close to Mt. Hoods suggestions was the key. He didn't even have asthma. It was a lung worm. So not only did they miss diagnose, the medicine for a medical condition he didn't have could have caused other deadly medical conditions. Way to go Mt. Hood. Second thought, u can keep all of your worthlessness. read more

My husband and I had chosen this place because it initially began with a family friendly atmosphere. As time progressed, service level began decreasing and prices began increasing. We've never been so poorly serviced anywhere for our 3 dogs as this place. What finally drew the line was two part; firstly mismanagement of what we were scheduling our dogs in for, and secondly is the passive aggressive behavior of most technicians (with a smile of their face) to us as they made mistakes and refused to work with us. We decided immediately we could no longer support a company that will so easily let their loyal customers (who paid in full each time) walk out the door. We also suspect if this is not the value of the owner, then the owners have an insider sabotaging their company; the office manager and some of the technicians. Food for thought. read more

after calling our regular vet to get an appointment to have a laceration stitched up on our dog and being told they could not see her until the middle of October ( mindful that this clinic is called a hospital yet could not accommodate an injury that required a hospital) and obviously this was a time sensitive injury , and them suggesting we go to one of the emergency walk in clinics , and after calling those clinics to find out the wait in my car ( not allowed in the clinic) would be 1-7 hours... and deciding to just start calling every vet clinic in the area ---Mt Hood Pet Medical was 3 on the list. Mt Hood Pet has the intelligence to keep 2 slots open for emergency care.. I booked an appointment knowing it would be a bit more money than a regular visit, but what is the difference between them and the emergency clinic prices ..NOTHING,----- and me and the dog did not have to wait in a car for 1 to 7 hours... the receptionist are kind, fun, and energetic not crabby rude and pretend you don't exist like at my 'regular ' hospital clinic . the doctor took time to play with out scared injured pup and was very thorough in explaining what would be done, the price break down was also very up front. unlike the vet at our ' regular ' hospital clinic who is so busy they barely looked at the pup when we brought her in for a meet and greet , and then asked if we could just give her the rest of her vaccinations ourselves ,I informed him we have done so in the past ----apparently they are so overwhelmed and busy they do not have time for anything . The only reason we brought the puppy in to our regular vet was to establish a relationship with the vet.. well that failed.. but at Mt Hood Pet Medical the relationship was established in a matter of minutes.. those reviews that mention payment up front, this and the business of the clinic ---are out of touch with the reality that is the veterinary world. this clinic in comparison to several others in much more personable and accommodating.. from now on all 0f my small animals will be going to Mt Hood Pet Medical read more

Dr. Angela Wheeler was amazing. Took my dog here for the first time after moving from out of state. Was worried because of a fast growing lump. He got updated shots and took a sample of the cells to check on the growth. Everyone was very kind and helpful. Dr. Wheeler discussed some possible options before the test results came back which I greatly appreciated so I could be thinking about everything ahead of time. Dr. Wheeler called me regarding the results once they were in, greatly appreciated her follow up, patience, kindness and willingness to educate me on my pet's situation. Finance wise they provided me a quote for everything ahead of time and I paid exactly what was quoted. I believe she cared well for my dog and myself as the owner. read more

Told them we simply couldn't afford it and they were very dehumanizing and rude to me. Went to the vet across powell near hillcrest and they treated the cat for about 100. I should've read horrible reviews in here I wouldn't loose 125$ just to find out they are scammers. Now I know why they were the only place with available appointment at this same day. Anyway I came in with my cat who had around 2inch high open wound that needed few stitches, they do the exam and they told me it will cost between 550-850$ I was like whaaaaat??? U want me to pay more than my rent for one of simplest medical procedure there is?? I had that issue with cat previously and I paid 350 AT THE EMERGENCY VET in Tigard, which is always more expensive than normal place so I don't understand where they took 850$ from. I'm actually starting to think they told me that ridiculous price bc I'm a IMMIGRANT and they thought I don't know any better, happens to me a lot but never with vet.
