They have the largest magazine selection of any store I'm aware of. And a solid movie & music section as well. I've never had any issues with bad service here, and the staff is always friendly. They frequently have tables with books marked down, sometimes up to 50% or more. And some nicely priced coffee table books that I'd buy if I had more coffee tables.

Even if I can or cannot afford to shop there every customer should be treated as if they're gonna drop thousands on high end audio! We shouldn't feel less than walking into your store!!!!!!!!!! When I made my initial purchase on 12/15 I got an email stating the my payment for my order failed and to try with a different payment method. The payment for that order in fact did not fail and I had made 2 purchases. I put in a cancellation request that same night and called on the 16th to ensure itd be rectified. 12/19 I emailed and called again unable to reach customer service. I left a voicemail and got no call back. Also on the 19th, I get 2 notices from my bank that 2 charges from retro vgames posted. Today 12/20 I finally get through to customer service just for them to tell me there's nothing they can do and both purchases have been shipped on the 16th, but I was never notified if my product had shipped. I log in to my account to see that they were shipped the 18th, not the 16th. The order should have never been shipped and the initial payment should have never been taken if they told me payment failed AND the cancellation request was put in prior to the offer being fulfilled. Customer service was very dismissive, had inaccurate information, and told me they couldn't see the cancellation request even though they read off of it.... So far poor experience, but I will update if product is received and will see if the order is accurate, products work/quality, and the return process is not a hassle/no cost to me.

UPDATE: THE SITUATION BECAME EVEN WORSE AFTER MY ORIGINAL REVIEW…read more My original review was written before I could even test the Xbox because Retro vGames shipped it without the required AC wall cord. After purchasing the missing cord myself, I discovered that the console was also defective. It failed its system update, would not properly load a game, and the disc tray repeatedly opened and closed by itself, sometimes only partially opening or becoming difficult to reopen. To summarize what I received: * A defective Xbox 360 that was advertised as professionally refurbished, "Tested & Working," and working "flawlessly" * A wired controller instead of the advertised wireless controller * An incomplete power supply with the required wall cord missing * A console I had to spend additional money on just to test and discover that it did not work properly Getting help was nearly as frustrating as the merchandise itself. I sent repeated emails, photographs, screenshots of their advertisement, and video evidence of the malfunction. I was passed around, given vague responses, promised follow-ups that did not arrive, and even told that they had attempted to call me but that my working telephone number appeared inactive--even though I received no missed call or voicemail. They initially pushed replacement merchandise, store credit, or a refund reduced by a 10% fee. Only after I repeatedly demanded a full refund, provided extensive documentation, and opened a formal dispute with my bank did they finally send a prepaid return label and promise the full amount after receiving the console. They then asked me to withdraw my bank dispute. I did not withdraw it. Golden 1 investigated the matter and issued me a permanent credit for the full $165.34. To be perfectly clear: my financial institution resolved this--not Retro vGames voluntarily refunding me before the dispute. I have returned the defective console using the company's label and have documented the contents, packaging, shipment, tracking, and delivery process. Retro vGames has now posted a polished public apology acknowledging that the required power cord was missing, the accessory did not match the advertisement, and the console had additional functionality issues. They also asked me to consider updating my review "based on how they handled the resolution." So here is my update: their public response sounds considerably better than the customer-service experience I actually received. A company should not need weeks of emails, photographs, videos, telephone calls, a formal bank dispute, and a public review before taking responsibility for merchandise that arrived incomplete, incorrectly fulfilled, and defective. I appreciate that they have finally acknowledged what happened, but that does not erase what it took to get here. My one-star rating remains unchanged. Customers deserve to know that the product delivered to me did not match the listing, did not function properly, and required a bank dispute to obtain a reliable financial resolution.

It shares the building with other business including a CVS, and parking is shared with their lots or on the street. This is a light comic book shop with limited selection, to the point if they dropped comics from there name, I don't think anyone would notice. Handful of wall books and mostly modern books in their short boxes. Graphic novel selection was better than average with several shelves. Portal primarily focuses on gaming, with them having a large board gaming selection. Other gaming items are located around the shop, including various Warhammer items and paint for gaming items. Gaming space is located in the back of the shop, in a separate room from the merchandise. Overall, if you are looking for gaming items, The Portal should meet your needs. I would do my comic shopping at other shops in the Lehigh Valley, however.

We have been looking forward to being in the area again so we could visit again. When we walked in we felt right at home. They have over 4 aisles full of long boxes with back issues. The staff is very courteous and helpful. The selection of back issues is fantastic. Although their $1.00 comics are now at $1.50 we were still were able to walk out with over 200 comics and were given a great deal on them. Their walls of New issues is also very impressive and then give a great discount to customers who subscribe with them. We are planning on coming back and going through their aisles of 0.50 and 0.10 cimics Next time. Almost forgot to mention their very large gamers area. Don't miss coming here.

They have the standard used bookstore fare but then add on a decent collection of really old books, the type that you would put on your shelf to wow guests. They also have some other random collectibles scattered around the store such as bookends, paintings, and prints. I can't guarantee you will find something you are looking for, or even that you want, but it was fun to browse and I say if you are passing by then give it a try.
