I've been a customer of this bank for some time, and no wonder. This bank is a big deal! I know…read morealmost all the staff and never have to worry about being recognized when I walk through the door. The staff goes above and beyond, as exampled by this experience with Jordan, Assistant General Manager in La Crosse: I brought to Trevor, the initial associate I encountered, my check to cash, written to me on the account of another bank, representing the remaining balance on an automobile purchase; so, an amount that I was eager to obtain immediately. Trevor was truthful, informing that I could deposit the check with a one- or more-day hold, pending verification of funds: standard precautionary procedure. I've known Jordan since day one of my association with Citizens State Bank. Trevor took my check matter to Jordan, who elaborated on the reason for the hold: bad checks and overdrafts, me left holding the bank bag, all that sort of thing. In desperation (I know he felt it in me), I meekly suggested phoning the issuing bank to verify funds available with a simple phone call, which to my great relief he did for me! Having obtained that verification, he was able to authorize immediate release of the funds. I couldn't have asked for better nor more expeditious service, and doubtless could not at any other financial institution have received it. To say the least, I salute the attention that the staff in La Crosse has paid not only my feeble attempts at banking, but to me as a customer. Cash to coffee (perhaps someday I may be able to say 'dollars to donuts'?), this Citizens State Bank puts out the welcome mat for customer satisfaction.

The people are very nice and able to help with all concerns. Also can get a free iced coffee…read moreanytime. If thats not ur thing you can get coke or mountain dew with a limit of 2 per person. Make sure to get ur punch card punched so u get a free tumbler cup.

Trying to use the website to manage your mortgage with this company is intensely painful. The…read morepassword requirements insure you will never remember your password without writing it down, which is a huge no-no. You need to know your loan number before you can reset your username (this was a problem when they didn't send paper statements, which they do now). I tried to reset my password for months one time before calling and being told 'Oh, that link on the site doesn't work right now, you have to call and we'll email you the right link.' You get 3 tries and then your account is locked, but no warning before it's locked. Most recently I was told that my account was deactivated because I hadn't logged in in 30 days "for protection - it's a security feature." It's a mortgage account, paid monthly . . . I'm highly likely to not log in every 30 days so it just makes my experience more painful. Speaking to the customer support rep, I felt like the concerns weren't validated and they were almost annoyed that I had a complaint. I can say they have always helped me fix the problem, but I wish there were not so many problems. I've never had to call customer support as much as I have using this online account. On the plus side, I did get a good rate on my mortgage. But I'd recommend any new customers set up paying their mortgage through a bill pay feature on their regular bank site. Also to hook it up to something like Mint.com right away so you don't have to worry about forgetting your username or password and then dealing with the pain of resetting them on this site. It will make managing your mortgage online much easier than going through the site.
