Have you ever wondered what happens to all the worst farms, that no other milk producers' co-op wants? They start their own cooperative, since it's the only prayer these rejects have of a market for their milk. That's Scenic Central.
I hauled milk for one of their contractors for 15 years. We always used to say Scenic Central was a farmer's last stop before the bankruptcy auction. We saw these s-hole farms get dropped by other milk marketers, and Scenic Central would be all over them like the last chopper out of Saigon.
There was a running joke...if you saw some farm that looked like a junkyard, we would say it must be a Scenic Central calendar farm.
Their big claim to fame was always "NO DEBT". Of course they don't have any debt....they don't have one single tangible asset. It doesn't take a rocket sceintist to figure that out.
The trucking company I worked for hauled milk for many different milk marketers...and Scenic Central was by far the worst. The worst farms, the worst field reps, the worst dispatching, the worst of everything.
Now this review is based on how they treat their contractors.....if you are a failing dairy farm and they hold the last pack of saltines between you and the food bank, you may have a different opinion. read more
