I moved away from La Crosse decades ago but have been a customer of State Bank forever. Why?…read more Because of people like Justin Reineking. Justin and his staff are the consumate professionals. Over the last year I have been subjected to three cyberattacks, along with the usual scams, spams, etc. we all receive. Fraud is growing, whether we like it or not and it is imperative we have the knowledge, skills, and abilities to protect ourselves from these nefarious actors. My most recent cyberattack was generated through my employer health insurance and was very convincing. So I did what I always do when I have questions involving my finances, I called Justin's office, on a Friday evening. Early Monday morning he called me back, reviewed my situation in exquisite detail and provided me with the reassurance I knew he would give me. Even though I no longer live in the La Crosse area I feel safe knowing that State Bank Financial and people like Justin Reineking will be there, protecting me and my assets. Thank you for being the truly wonderful banker that you are.

Staff pleasant, knowledgeable, kind, professional. I've noticed they're welcoming to everyone who walks in the door, AND remembers their names. I have lately had need to put one of the bankers to a lot of work, and he's been great. I love the LaX team and hope soon to call on them for more services.

I have tried to find out why this bank wants to alienate itself from its older cliental. For years…read moreI have done almost all my banking and getting my account information through their automated phone system. In the last 4-5 years this bank's IT team has made this banking system impossible to use. I have a line of credit that if I used it, I would use the automated phone service to pay it back. Over the last few years the IT department made it so that you can not do this anymore. The first change in the automated system took out the interest which was due on your overdraft amount. So you had to be on hold until someone got all your info, told you that amount and made the transaction. Then the IT department would not allow you to completely pay down the overdraft owed without a customer service rep completing the transaction. After you are on hold, go through giving all your account info so they can get in to your account. Now there is no option to transfer any money within your own account to pay anything on your overdraft. So once again, you get put on hold, then the customer service person would put you on hold again so you can get a person qualified to do this transaction. I have brought this to the attention of 3 different branch managers and a customer service manager on the phone. Here is the lip service I got each time. QUOTE I, the person I told this to will forward this to the proper people to get back to you to try and make your banking experience better. This update was to come from their IT department. 3 years later and no response, not even an acknowledgement that they care and I tell the customer service person I have had it being on the phone for 25 minutes to do a 1 minute transaction. A customer service manager calls me back yelling at me about respect and to take whatever business at ALTRA I have and get out. LEAVE! where does he get off looking for respect when this bank could care less about its senior citizen bankers who have brought on ongoing problem to their attention. This fool does not have a clue of what his automatic banking system does and does not do anymore. If you want respect then show some to your customers especially your senior citizens and see why the complaint was made in the first place. For those thinking online, well my account was purged twice so I do not bank online and now forced to get a paper statement at $3.00/month fee. A way to charge another fee. Bottom line is don't banks want to collect money as easily as possible or do they want to continue to make it more and more inconvenient for the customers who rely on the automated phone service to pay them back. Glad to see that this customer service manager researched this before he told me to get lost and take my business with me.

I pay my hairdresser by check, and she deposits it at either your La Crosse or Onalaska location. I have two checking accounts at Marine. The one we opened in 1980 has an account number starting with 102. In the early 2000's, we bought a duplex in Minneapolis and eventually opened a checking account which starts with 101. If your tellers would look at the number on the check instead of starting with 101 by default, I wouldn't have any problems. I called once to complain, but was told the solution was simple, they would transfer the dollar amounts to the correct accounts. I can do that. You need something in your system that compares check numbers. Two checks cleared my 101 account. The correct one was #5367, the incorrect one was #12729. A simple prompt in your computer system would pick up that the check sequence is incorrect. I have pulled thousands of dollars from transferred them to TrustPoint. I am almost ready to pull all my money from Marine and do my banking with Altra. The major problem is I have multiple accounts paid automatically from this account, some of them only draw on the account once a year. I have a credit score of over 800 and don't want to ruin it by starting to "bounce" payments on these accounts. My frustration level is off the charts.

This week, we deposited our money like usual, and I received an email saying they were holding the check until Feb. 14. I deposited it on Feb3. It was for less than $500. For some reason it had been flagged. My husband went to his bank and withdrew the money and took the cash to Marine. They wouldn't cancel the check that was deposited. They said we had to prove there was money in that account. My husband showed them the receipt he had gotten from the bank. Marine is seriously the worst bank ever. There hours suck. They charged us an overdraft fee for 57 cents. Stay far far away. Did I mention they don't open until 11AM? Takes banker's hours to a whole new level.
