Unknown to us we paid bills online and 2 months later informed that it came out of someone else's account. So they reversed the charges and we got stuck with late fees from these places we paid. They are not offering to help with the extra fees even though they are responsible for it. Don't do business with them. read more

Trying to get a business loan, was told we would have an answer in a few days. Going on a week and a half. When originally asking if we needed to provide any paperwork they originally said no. When we got it to them, they then told us we were moved to the back of the line even though we were considered in the urgent reviews. If i knew it was going to take this long, i wouldve went somewhere else. I have a hard time believing this many businesses are starting during the pandemic and regardless am sick of being told "we will get back to you later today." How long does today last!? read more

Had a checking account for a year no problems. Opened first savings account (53), worst experience ever. I'm on a limited income so savings small. Next thing I know they are taking out almost a hundred in withdrawal fees. When I went to the Grandview bank to straighten it out, they were extremely rude. Mr G. WORST bank ever for mortgage and customer service. Dubuque county farm. we currently own a farm in Dubuque county. Mind you we do NOT nor have we ever had an mortgage with this bank because they were usually higher interest than other bank. But we have always had our savings and all other banking thru this bank..... Now years later farm is nearly paid for so accountant tells us we have to spend some money for tax reasons. So we decided to build another building. Been going on for a month to get a loan and still no loan. Underwriters are terrible and absolutely no common sense whatsoever. We are asking for $ 100k loan , and the farm is paid for and worth 2.5 to 4 million.we have many times more than the loan, in our savings. Loan officer says she totally understands but underwriters just keep wanting more and more. To approve this... So I simply asked her, how much have you given us for the last 20 years for our several hundreds of thousands of dollars we kept in our savings???? Nothing.. banks lend your money out and make money on it.we are asking for Penny's compared to our assets. And we don't even need it!!!i it's purely for tax reasons . We have cash to burn sitting in their vault. Can some one please show this to the president of db&t and explain to him the incompetent and greed coming out of his establishment, please! I'm completely flabbergasted by how terrible this bank was to deal with. My wife and I are looking for our first home and approached DB&T for a mortgage. We were pre-approved in July and received our approval letter with no other information other than we're "..more than fine to pick out a house in our price range". Being naive first-time home buyers we thought not going over interest rates, closing costs, or basically anything else about the mortgage must have been normal and something that must have been discussed after an offer was made. Well we made an offer that was accepted and decided to reach out to our loan officer to get the next steps. We call and leave a message and patiently wait DAYS for a call back where she was short and unwilling to answer questions (even cut us off at one point). Okay. People get stressed and busy. We get it. I'm sure she'll give us more information once she receives the purchase agreement. After sending her our purchase agreement, we were told things would be ready for Monday. Monday comes and goes. Tuesday I send an email checking in. Nothing. Wednesday. Call with no response. Thursday. Call with no response and an email. It's now been 2 weeks after our first contact with our LO after our bid being accepted and we have ZERO information and communication from our lender. No rates, no closing costs information, not even a "Sorry we're busy!" I finally received an email Thursday midday that just said "What do you have available tomorrow. I've got meetings all afternoon" REALLY?! No apology. No explanation. No effort to try and schedule a time. I cannot rearrange my work day last minute and so I ask if we can make something else work. No response. It is now Friday afternoon and I still haven't heard anything back from her. I literally walked into another bank Thursday evening and had approval, all of our questions answered, a mortgage rate, and plans to close by Friday afternoon. I had a mortgage for 10 years with them. They sold my mortgage, which they have a right to do. I was told the new bank was from Illinois and my payment should be sent to the provided address. The payments go to Los Angeles. During my first 5 years at DB&T, I was able to deposit $ to my escrow account for each years escrow deficit, keeping my payment low. Then the 6th year I was told by them, this practice is against federal banking laws. My payment went up $250 over 5 years. My mortgage was sold at year 10. New bank notifies me of mortgage deficits. They offer me to pay the deficit. I did, and my monthly payment is now less than the payment I had with DB&T during year 10 of mortgage. This affected my budget. They lied to me. Shame on DB&T. I will be closing a 401K, and no more safety deposit box w them. read more

I do not recommend a mortgage through this bank. My major frustration has been their slowness in providing the year-end statements for tax purposes. I have to wait an extra week or two every year because they drag their feet until the last day to send out the 1098 mortgage statements and do not have those available online until February. My taxes are ready to file but I am waiting on them once again. I have another mortgage through PNC Bank and I got that statement several days ago. read more

Had a loan through this bank because I wanted to have everything local, within a year they sold the loan out to some other place and now won't even refund an overdraft fee because their policy is "strict", which is BS it is more like they care more about money than their customers, it was $7 in charges I was asking to get refunded that will now cost me $77 thanks to their $35 overdraft fees, leaving this bank soon and would NOT recommend. read more

This is quite possibly the worst bank I ever dealt with. Trying to get a loan for 400k on home that's worth 700k and the underwriters are pulling it apart, while looking for ways to kill the loan. I have probably closed 75-100 loans in the last 3 years and this company is by far the worst to deal with. I will honestly tell anyone looking for any type of loan or financial services to stay very far away from this bank... I would highly doubt if their underwriting department has any idea of property evaluations given how cumbersome they transact their business. This company makes the big banks look good. My end result: I had to cancel the transaction to get another lender than wasnt new in the game and wasted 5 weeks of my time. New lender closed the deal in 21 days no problems. read more

This was my first home purchase, so I was a little clueless as to how the process works. I'm used to people getting me in and out the door - not Dee, she let me set the pace and answered all my questions, making sure I knew how everything worked. Dee and her team made sure all due diligence was done to avoid any glitches, while keeping good contact with me. It was SUCH a great surprise when she made me aware of the First Time Home Buyers Grant I was eligible for as well. Don't get a mortgage thru these people. I sadly rushed and went thru them and I deeply regret it. Poor customer service. The loan lady I had was chewing her damn gum while we were filling out the information I was pretty disappointed and disgusted by it. She never said thank you never was any bit courteous to us in anyway and it almost seems like we were taking up her time that she needed so badly. And frankly I wish I would've went somewhere else because they do not even care that I have a loan thru them. Checking account as soon as the new year starts I am totally switching banks their checking account is ridiculous I have been overcharged and basically had money go out of my account twice only times to them they have other stuff that I went in and told them do not authorize there's horrible and everything and they don't keep anything updated I've gone in there and change my address three times but it's still on the address that I had when I first or the account open the account. read more

Trying to use the website to manage your mortgage with this company is intensely painful. The password requirements insure you will never remember your password without writing it down, which is a huge no-no. You need to know your loan number before you can reset your username (this was a problem when they didn't send paper statements, which they do now). I tried to reset my password for months one time before calling and being told 'Oh, that link on the site doesn't work right now, you have to call and we'll email you the right link.' You get 3 tries and then your account is locked, but no warning before it's locked. Most recently I was told that my account was deactivated because I hadn't logged in in 30 days "for protection - it's a security feature." It's a mortgage account, paid monthly . . . I'm highly likely to not log in every 30 days so it just makes my experience more painful. Speaking to the customer support rep, I felt like the concerns weren't validated and they were almost annoyed that I had a complaint. I can say they have always helped me fix the problem, but I wish there were not so many problems. I've never had to call customer support as much as I have using this online account. On the plus side, I did get a good rate on my mortgage. But I'd recommend any new customers set up paying their mortgage through a bill pay feature on their regular bank site. Also to hook it up to something like Mint.com right away so you don't have to worry about forgetting your username or password and then dealing with the pain of resetting them on this site. It will make managing your mortgage online much easier than going through the site. read more

I'm unable to pay my mortgage through their website, they suggest using internet explorer!? Are you insane, who uses internet explorer, that's insane. They suggest I send a check in the mail to pay my monthly mortgage payments, this is the 21st century, who does that. This company sickens me. Stay away. Stay far away. read more

I have worked in the banking industry as a lender and credit analyst for twenty five years and I am also a part-time real estate investor who has bought, sold and owns several properties. All I can say about Dubuque Bank is that it is probably THE WORST bank one can have a mortgage loan with. I obtained my home loan through a broker (who now I have black listed because of this bank) that was either suckered into using Dubuque or was receiving a very large commission from them. My loan was a standard (non-FHA) 30 years term loan of $320M for a house with a selling price of $400M subject to a 80% maximum LTV ratio. This bank got an appraiser to valuate my house who used FHA lending guidelines in the valuation. This produced a much lower of $345M. There were 5 houses within a 1/2 miles radius with comparable age, s.f., features and quality. They were all sold within 6 month of the appraisal dated for $400M to $430M but none of them were considered as comps. The appraiser instead used properties outside of the area, adjusted their values to produced a much lower value, and applied it to my house. This method clearly did not conform with standard uniforms real estate appraisal valuation guidelines. I stated this to the bank and also pointed out that I am not applying for an FHA guaranteed loan. The bank stated they were still basing my loan amount from that appraised value but I can formally appeal the valuation, which would take at least a month. This was complete B.S.! I didn't have the time to appeal this or to drop this bank and seek another lender. My escrow had to close within a week after the appraisal was done and they knew it. Fortunately I had the ability to come up with $28M as extra down payments to make up the difference. My complaint about Dubuque is not only about that incident but also about its god-awful customer service and product; especially its on-line mortgage payment service. The on-line payment program is from Hartland. As a provider of banking software applications, Hartland's products are a jokes in the banking industry; they they are not user friendly for the bankers or their customers. The on-line payment is frequently down especially during the weekend when tech support is not available. You cannot customize your log-on password but must come up with a password that conforms to their strict criteria. This mean you'll likely to forget it and you only get three tries before you're completely shut out of the system. When you're submitting a mortgage payment there is nothing to prompt you to print out or save your confirmation number after the payment is submitted. Their isn't even a feature in the program to let you print out or save the confirmation number. So if you forgot to write it down, well... too bad, because you cannot retrieve it. I completely agree with and sympathize with many of the other reviewers after reading their posts about the terrible service and horrible experiences they had with Dubuque. If you're looking for a home loan you might have to pay a few points higher in interest rate or loan fee for a loan from another lender but it will be well worth it. PLEASE, SAY AWAY FROM THIS BANK! read more

I was totally impressed with DBT in Davenport. I did my refinancing with them and everything was done in a timely manner with very little effort on my part and the results were outstanding! They lowered my mortgage payment a couple of hundred dollars a month. I would highly recommend their mortgage services! read more
