I can't say enough good things about CDC and Megan especially. My son has been seeing Miss Megan since he was 1.5 and I think I was a bit more nervous about it than he was. Megan was so great with both of us. She allowed me to sit in on more sessions than their policy states and only when I was ready did she take my son back by himself. She made me feel like she was my partner in navigating the whole speech thing. When I can't make it to take him to his appointments, she'll send videos of his progress and a little note. My son loves going to see her and doesn't want to leave the wait area afterwards! Jody, the owner, is also extremely kind and cares about all the kids and parents in her program. When a member of the staff was going to go on maternity leave and some of her responsibilities were going to be passed on to our therapist, Jody emailed me directly to make sure I was comfortable with switching my son's teacher. I expressed some concerns (he was very shy and just loved Megan at this point) and Jody quickly assured me they'd work around my son and my concerns. I can't tell you how wonderful it was for me that they went above and beyond to accommodate us. All of the people at CDC are truly incredible and will love on your child while they help them grow. My son, who is now 3.5 years old, has been going here for roughly a year and a half now, and loves it! He started going here when we thought he simply had a speech delay, but we later found out that our son has autism. The staff here could not be more supportive. We started out seeing Miss Allison, who is phenomenal, but due to scheduling switched to Miss Mary, who is exceptional. The whole staff really cares about the progress my son is making. They are out of network with our insurance, but we love them so much, we pay the difference. Our sons progress is well worth the difference in price. read more

I would enjoy telling everyone my experience with this company. This was one of the worst experience I have ever had in my life and sadly to say my son Kendry had to witness it first hand. I had called in for a consultation based on the fact that my son's health provider (CalOptima) had notified me that they were able to provide speech therapy as part of their services. I reached out to the closest location which is CDC. I talked to a lady on the phone from the office which let me know that they were not in network through my provider. They mentioned they could provide me with a free 30 minute consultation. I asked for the prices, she stated it would be $150 per session. I let them know, I would be willing to pay for the services as long as my son was willing to work with them as he is very particular of who he communicates with. My son has ADHD and has behavioral problems from the past however with the assistance of his school, therapy parenting classes we have taken together, & psychiatric assistance. We have been able to improve his school grades and behavior in school as well as at home. Therefore, I wanted to assure myself that this company and their staff members would be a good fit for Kendry. I spoke to office receptionist Megan McGinnis which I found out later was the assistant. I received a email confirmation for the appointment. I was scheduled to come with my son on March 18th, 2020 at 4:00pm. I didn't receive a phone call to let me aware of any changes to our scheduled meeting instead I received an email as shown in the pictures section of this post that," it would be best to not bring my family". It never stated a cancellation or change to the schedule appointment (as shown). I didn't have the opportunity to read my emails as I had a very busy day on hand as I am now responsible for teaching my kids how to learn at home due to the CoronaVirus. I did apologize for not reading the email however I was already at the location parked outside when I read it. I was approached by Megan outside letting me know that they were not available to assist us even though they mentioned there was 2 therapist on staff. I proceeded by asking her when would they be done with their consultation I would be willing to wait. Megan returned back to the office to get a response back for me. She stated that she was not at liberty to disclose the information and that she felt threatened. She also added that the company was not an in network provider. I responded by saying I wouldn't mind paying the fees associated for the services I wanted to make sure that their staff members were a good fit for my son. She stormed off. I followed up by responding back to Jody'a email about the email for the appointment. I responded as shown in the picture. Letting her know that I didn't appreciate the level of service and professionalism provided. Jody responded to my email with the shown picture. Making her and her staff member look like the victim when in reality, we were. Her very last email directed to me was almost mocking me about leaving a negative review. I will say this with the most honesty in my heart. I would NEVER recommend this business to anyone not even my worst enemy. Good Bye! read more

We moved down to the area a few months ago and my daughter had already been receiving therapy for her speech delay & I was anxious about starting her somewhere new as change can be difficult for her age (now 3). We were matched up with Allison and my daughter instantly connected with her and had zero hesitation, which I thought would be difficult during the covid circumstances and zoom calls. There were a few times where my daughter didn't want to participate but Allison was extremely understanding and worked with her each of those times and didn't show any sign of frustration or annoyance. After trying out 3 other speech therapists and spending $$$$$, I have finally found the right place for my daughter! Jody and her staff are nurturing, thorough, and high energy (which my daughter loves!). They allow you to sit in during the testing and first couple of sessions, unlike other places I have been and ended up being charged for an hour for a 10 minute test..They give you homework during the week which is awesome and reinforces what they are working on during each session. As a mom you want only the best for your child, Jody and her team have not only helped my son, they've helped me. They are the best in Orange county. I was lost in this sea of speech therapy..... Drowning in my own tears. They picked me up and showed me the way. Now my son can have a full conversation, something I didn't even believe was possible a year ago. I would not recommend this provider. We signed up for two reasons - the therapist seemed intelligent and energetic, and the owner talked up the wonders of billing insurance and getting them to pay for much of the service. The reality was quite different. We circulated through many therapists - some excellent, some not very good. But, most importantly, it was a revolving door and our son simply did not receive consistent therapy, and after thousands of dollars of therapy did not progress much at all. As for the insurance angle: When the dust settled, we ended up paying $130 per hour out of pocket and CDC was billing the insurance company $400 per hour, which then got negotiated down to something less than that. The way CDC does the billing with the insurance company, and delayed reimbursement, it took us 6 months to really figure out what was going on. When it was all said and done, we were paying $130 per hour plus then remitting insurance monies back to CDC. Most speech therapists charge about $130 per hour, so save the hassle and just pay them directly. Much simpler and ultimately less cost to you. At best, this is a shaky organization with staff turnover. At worst, they may have questionable practices as it relates to billing and insurance reimbursement. I frankly don't have the time to figure it out... and we have moved on to a better therapist a mile away. read more

I have a speech and language practice that focuses entirely on school settings. Because we have a website and an Irvine address, we receive calls regularly from parents asking if we will see their child, and I must refer them to someone else. I refer to Jody very, very regularly, especially for children with complicated issues such as apraxia or autism. Every parent that I have ever referred has raved about her services. The reviews that I read here echo my experiences. I would trust their commitment and honesty completely. I find the comments in the single one star review baffling - it is inconsistent with 10 years of parent reports. read more

MY FAMILY LOVES CDC!!! Both of my daughters received and continue to receive speech therapy services from this amazing clinic. Being that both of my daughters have speech delays, I wanted to find a speech center that would be the best speech intervention setting and nearby work/home. The owner, Jody, runs such an effective speech center that includes clear expectations of the billing policies, variety of speech pathologists with all different types of experience, open communication about every session, and great resources for parents of children with speech deficits. Make sure you google maps the location before going because it is in the A building which can confuse some people. Once you have entered the center....just look for the switch box to the right of the door in order to page the person whom you or your child will be meeting with. Our son started at CDC at 16 months old and has been seeing the same amazing speech pathologist Allison for over a year. We were referred through the regional center for his assessment and then offered to receive services there. Jodi has worked with our schedule and had excellent communication with us and the regional center. The center is always nice and clean and all staff that comes in is very friendly. Our son has made huge progress with his speech and communication skills and we owe it to Allison for her hard work, honesty and "homework"! read more

My son Sidney has been doing weekly speech sessions at CDC with Miss Hayley, and it has the best decision I've ever made for him. Within the first month my son began communicating with me like he never could before, he went from 10 words for hundreds in just weeks. After 9 months my son is now at his peers level with speech and tonight is his very last session. He asks for miss Hayley all week long, month after month, he loves coming here so much he's going to be devastated when he realizes he doesn't need to go to speech anymore. I could not recommend a better place for children who have fallen behind with speech and communication, every staff member is unbelievable and you will be receiving top notch care for the best price. CDC is a clean facility with a lot of great therapy practices to promote a safe and fun learning environment for children. The staff has great energy and communicates effectively to parents. Therapists not only have great, fun personalities, but also have the training necessary to treat a variety of diagnoses. They are required to give parents tools and homework to enhance progress and prognosis of the children they treat. What I appreciate most about this facility is it's management's integrity and value for transparency with it's clientele. I would recommend this facility to anyone living in the Costa Mesa area. read more

I have to say that I was very dissapointed with this place. I had my 3 year old son tested here and while the people that work here are nice, etc I felt it wasn't very professional. I met with Jody, the owner, for our assessment. She felt it was good to have him tested since he repeated back everything I said. While I agreed with that, she also suggested he might be autistic. Something that has never crossed my mind. I was then scared and concerned as any parent would be. We had him tested and the therapist that administered the test really didn't tell me or my husband what was going on or what we should do during the test, leave or stay. Took forever to get the results and when my husband and I finally went in, the center suggested to not only have him in speech therapy once a week, but get him tested for a sensory processing disorder and we will continue to explore the autism. This from speech therapists.....not neurologists. Jody said that most of this will be covered by insurance and I gave them my insurance info. NOTHING was covered by insurance! And it cost $800 to have him tested for 2 hours. I felt very taken advantage of. Thank god I trusted my instincts and did not place him in speech therapy. My son is now 3 1/2 and doing so well. No longer repeating anything. And his school says not only is he a normal 3 year old, but advanced. So definitely not autistic, etc. Also his pediatrician, who has seen him since birth, says I have nothing to worry about. I do not recommend this center unless you would like to pay a lot of money for I diagnosis that might not even be correct! read more

I must say that I am shocked at how Jody Stratton runs her business. I read the review on 3/2/2016 by Ryan K. and could almost write the exact same comments. My wife and I were shocked to find out that we owed thousands of dollars and that our insurance company didn't cover anything. In talking with my insurance company, they said that these codes are rarely paid. Her billing person said that they currently have 3 patients with billing issues and then said that my insurance company rarely pays from her experience. Here was a quote from Ryan: "the owner talked up the wonders of billing insurance and getting them to pay for much of the service." She did the same thing to my wife. They billed for 2 months worth of treatment in what appeared to be a delayed fashion as Ryan spoke about. I recommend going with someone else and if anyone says they will take care of the billing for "out of network" insurance, make sure you really check with your insurance company to get approved first. read more

This is the best place. I brought my 3rd grade son for help in speaking clearly and he absolutely improved due to the dedication of the staff. Lauren does a fantastic job and my son adored her.
