I had an SMS telling me my application was being processed 2 hours after I had walked out. Beats the post! There's an ATM out the front if you happen to have an account with them, and the staff are all very lovely. About the only branch in Brisbane, most of their stuff is online these days, but worth a visit if you're with them or are going to sign up.

As an American, I wanted to open an account in Australia to have free global transfers. However, Australia post refused to take my us bank card as a second ID during identity verification, saying that I needed an Australian bank card even though this wasn't specified on the document. Citibank said that my American bank card would be fine. After going back and forth between the post office and bank, who were telling me two opposite things, I gave up. This Citibank branch is a joke of a bank. What kind of bank has no cash and needs the post office to do their job for them? The banker didn't want to admit that their partnership with the post office wasn't working , and even blamed Obama for all these difficulties when it was clearly their own laziness, because we could have just filled out a w9. The whole experience was horrible and I taken my business elsewhere.

Admittedly, I was very confused when the invitation said it was at the Queensland police credit union, and still confused when it was explained to me that it was on the roof of it. Anyway, the location is in a great spot completely overlooking the river/Southbank and the city. One downside was that guests aren't able to enter the lobby or use the elevator unless someone comes down to the ground floor with a key and escorts you upstairs. The rooftop itself was nice, spacious, and like I said has great views. There is only one female bathroom and one male bathroom. One mirror...ONE mirror...take a moment to picture girls attending a 21st birthday having to share this one mirror with everyone else including males. The bathrooms were very very dingy/dirty to say the least, and the girls bathroom door doesn't lock properly. The function seemed pretty lenient, the rooftop was fully decked out with 21st birthday banners and music. You can bring your own alcohol as long as it is not in glasses. Cool spot I suppose, if you get an invite to a private function here definitely check it out if only for the view.

I literally just popped into the bank to convert some GBP into AUD and was instantly taken aback by the attire of the tellers. I could not find one that was dressed in a dull suit - they were all sporting pink shirts, some complete with glittering hats. Then it dawned on me - they were spreading awareness for breast cancer. I joined a short queue and was asked by one of these glittering hatters about the nature of my visit and she informed me that it'll be a few minutes' wait. So she challenged me to a game of table tennis while I waited. My opponent had clearly played more than one game that day, as it was a tough rally, which I eventually won. Firing myself up for a re-match, I was informed that the teller was ready to see me. Begrudgingly, I tore myself away from the game and had my currency converted by a very friendly teller. Never have I had a more enjoyable banking experience. Definitely check this place out if you're a NAB customer, require services beyond online banking or are just a keen table tennis enthusiast.
