If I could give them 0 stars, I would. Citibank has recently gone cashless and has partnered with Australia post to handle all cash. As an American, I wanted to open an account in Australia to have free global transfers. However, Australia post refused to take my us bank card as a second ID during identity verification, saying that I needed an Australian bank card even though this wasn't specified on the document. Citibank said that my American bank card would be fine. After going back and forth between the post office and bank, who were telling me two opposite things, I gave up. This Citibank branch is a joke of a bank. What kind of bank has no cash and needs the post office to do their job for them? The banker didn't want to admit that their partnership with the post office wasn't working , and even blamed Obama for all these difficulties when it was clearly their own laziness, because we could have just filled out a w9. The whole experience was horrible and I taken my business elsewhere. read more
