Management is slow to respond, problems are not addressed in a timely manner, and even simple issues can drag on without resolution. After my first complaint, this management company misled and deceived the Better Business Bureau (BBB) in order to get the case closed. They officially represented to both the BBB and me that the $100 fine had been waived and would be reversed. But after the BBB case was closed, they did the exact opposite of what they promised. On my August 18 bill, they charged me the same $100 again and added another $25 fee. This was not simply a billing mistake. They told the BBB that the issue had been resolved, got the complaint closed, and then failed to honor their written representation and charged me even more money. I have written documentation of their promise to the BBB and to me, as well as the August 18 bill showing the $100 charge and additional $25 fee. I have already requested that the BBB reopen the case and submitted the evidence. If a management company is willing to mislead both a homeowner and the BBB just to get a complaint closed, what else are they willing to do? How can homeowners trust a company that behaves this way? We at Crystal Pointe recently received a notice stating that HOA dues will be increasing. However, homeowners were never given the opportunity to vote on this change. The board also failed to disclose previous increases or communicate that additional fee raises were even being considered. Over the past few years, the board has repeatedly switched management companies without homeowner input, and decisions continue to be made without transparency. Most of us remain in the dark unless we sacrifice our time to attend meetings, which often devolve into internal disputes. And even then, a majority of discussions appear to take place privately among the HOA management, board president and board members, leaving homeowners excluded from meaningful participation. We are told there are adequate reserves, yet basic safety issues continue to be ignored. The lighting throughout the community is very poor, leaving the area dark and unsafe at dusk. Theft and vandalism occur regularly, but the board seems unaware because attention is given to trivial matters instead of real concerns impacting residents. In addition, construction workers frequently appear on the property without any prior notice to homeowners, leaving us confused about who they are and what they are doing. Communication between the board and every management company we've had, including the current one, has been consistently inadequate. Important information simply isn't being relayed to the Crystal Pointe community. We need transparency. We need safety addressed. And we need honest, consistent communication between the board, the management company, and the homeowners who live here and fund this HOA. read more

Common Interest Management is by far one of the worst management companies I've ever had to deal with. In just 2.5 years of living in my community, we've already gone through two managers, and still--nothing gets done. Everything is "in discussion" or "being planned," but no real action ever follows. Communication is a complete nightmare. Today alone, I called the office 15 times between 2:00 and 2:30 PM before someone finally picked up at 2:35--only to be told that the people I needed weren't even in the office, despite it being regular business hours. This is not the first time, either. The lack of accountability, professionalism, and follow-through is shocking. It feels like no one is actually running this company. Based on conversations with other communities managed by Common Interest, my experience isn't unique--everyone shares the same frustrations. If you are a Board member or homeowner considering Common Interest, take this as a red flag. The service I have received from Common Interest has been pathetic. Here's my experience with them: First experience: About half a year ago Common Interest took over the HOA management for the Rountree Condos in Concord. Immediately there was a $32 dollar increase from $498/mo to $530/mo with no explanation why. Second Experience: I received a notice that my tenants had too much clutter within their fenced in private yard area. Included in the notice was a picture taken from over the fence line into the private fenced in area, not a picture from the angle of a person passing by on foot. Note that these tenants have been in good standing living there for at least a decade with no change to their private yard and with no previous complaints made against them. I still notified them immediately and they responded that they would go through their items and donate some of their children unused toys, etc. A few weeks later I received a notice that a zoom hearing was scheduled based on the clean up progress at the condo wasn't to the liking of whoever inspected. I immediately contacted the tenants again and they sent me updated pictures showing progress including a company they hired to assist in taking away a few items. (She is a ER Nurse and they don't own a truck) I also contacted Common Interest and was referred to the onsite representative Cristina Candelori. I explained to Cristina that the tenants were making good progress and I provided pictures to her. Cristina stated she would visit the location and get back to me. Later that day Cristina responded saying Yes, there had been improvement, but she wanted more. She also added that she noticed the blinds at the bedroom window looked damaged and she could see items pushed against the window! (I was surprised that she now also was concerned with the interior of the condo. Thinking that's not her business) She told me she would contact the board and that I would not need to attend the hearing, and that she would cancel it based on the fact there was ongoing progress she witnessed at the site. A couple weeks went by and I received a notice that THE HEARING TOOK PLACE ! AND THEY DECIDED TO IMPOSE A $100 FINE!!! I was shocked! I was told the hearing was to be cancelled and I did not need to attend! Yet it proceeded and a $100 penalty was imposed in my absence? Are you kidding me? Who does that? I was lied to! So I was rightfully infuriated and called Common Interest Offices Immediately and explained what occurred. They asks for pictures of the progress and agreed that what happened sounded unfair. The employee state the would contact Cristina and recommend the fee be waived at the next board meeting. I then contacted Cristina and asked what the heck happened here? You told me the hearing was to be cancelled and I did not need to attend it! She had no explanation for that but had a different story of what occurred saying Well yes your tenants were making progress, but because it is not complete the board decided to impose a $100 fee at the hearing!!! And... She had the nerve to say... and she believed that tenets had moved outdoor items from front area to the bedroom and that's what she sees inside the window pressed against the base!! Wow what an assumption to make! Why would anyone move items outside into a bedroom? Insane assumption really! Cristina said you can appeal the fee if you wish. So I ended call and immediately emailed Common Interest to appeal. The next day I went to the condo and replaced the broken blinds at a cost of $60, and noted to Common Interest that the items pressed against the window were stuffed animals that had fallen behind a child's plastic bed themed after the cartoon movie Cars. I cautioned Common Interest from having their representative Cristina looking into a Childs window, but that the blinds had been replaced as a gesture of cooperation on my part. Since then I have emailed Common Interest about 3 times asking for an update and received no response. My account was billed an additional $100 and I want it refunded! I have not heard any progress on my appeal of the fee imposed wrongfully in my absence. So no, I do not recommend this company to anyone considering using them! They are unfair, un responsive and they hire local representatives who lie, and misrepresent facts by taking images from above fence lines, comment assuming wrongfully on the interior private areas in a Condo . What company states a hearing is waived, no need to attend it, then proceeds with the hearing with owner absent and then imposes a fee? Unheard of! So unprofessional! read more
