They are wonderful. I have my best friend here, my cat picked me out. He needs a play mate, I'm going back here for one.

This is a hard one to post but it is quite needed to inform the public of some policies the human…read moresociety does not make clear. We decided to adopt a kitty (Kit Kat), who was recovering from being spayed and a polyp removal in her nose. As per policy, we had to wait to adopt her so communicated many times with the staff to make sure we could get her. When the time came, we found the adoption process to be extremely rushed as the staff was clearly overwhelmed with all that was going on. Kit Kat had two medications that needed to be administered daily and the vet confirmed this would clear up her condition (their eyelid remaining 1/4 over eye). Two days after bringing her home, she went very lethargic, coughing and sneezing. I attempted to contact the Vet at SOHS and was denied. When I stated I only wanted to verify if this was an expectation of her recovery I was further told quite abruptly "SOHS is no longer financially responsible for animals after they are adopted". I was NOT looking for them to pay any upcoming vet bills. I was simply wanting to speak with the vet to confirm her condition. I was again denied, again reminded they are not financially responsible and asked to speak with a board member. We decided it would be best to get the cat to a vet and paid the 150.00 emergency vet bill plus medications. Turns out SOHS vet missed a polyp and she needs another surgery at the cost of $500.00. I was contacted by Ryan at the SOHS who stated they are legally not able to care for an animal once it is adopted. Understood. I asked to speak with the very who allegedly was out of cell reception. Never got a follow up call or any care or concern after speaking to them. I don't understand how complicated it is for a vet to 1) do their job effectively and 2) be able to produce communications about their surgeries and potential side effects. So my caution....DO NOT adopt a sick animal from SOHS with ANY expectation you will be shown any compassion or understanding. Had I known I would be spending over $1000.00 for a cat, I would have better prepared myself financially for it or saved for it. I am a very very strong believer in adopt not shop and this has been the worst experience doing so. My hopes, not to slander but to share my experience so others can be informed of what is going to come from SOHS once you sign that paperwork....nothing.

Most of the staff could learn about having grace in receiving information that is not an attack on them but a solution needed to protect the cats, My intention was to adopt a kitten there I fell in love with and a little friend so sweet in another cage but both not ready yet and I felt really hurt in my heart to see their health threatened. To the women incharge the topic of ring worm was deflected on to me I am a problem I really wanted these kittens and felt they were potentially harming them, the volunteers holding cats person to person, gees it is air born and lingers a long Time. You are informed when you leave to remove your clothes and shoes before you walk in your house becuase of the possibility of ring worm, no sign no warning before the fact so one could make a choice!

We were 10 minutes early and were told to walk around the store until our groomer arrived for work. Once our groomer arrived we checked in our first dog, had to walk our other dog out so they could bring the first one back and then we were able to bring our other dog in to get checked in. We have never had to separate them when checking in and they have always gone back together. I had expressed when checking them both in I wanted their pads trimmed and their glands expressed(which is apart of the service regardless). It took them the full 3 hours to groom them so I was expecting the full treatment. When we picked them up the dogs were so full of anxiety, something I have never seen from them when leaving the groomer. When we got them home I noticed their pads were not trimmed. In the days to follow it was evident that their glands had not been expressed and their ears were not cleaned(I cleaned their ears myself and they were in need of it). I'm not sure if this a low staffing issue or I got the wrong staff but we will not be bringing them back to the Medford location.

I am heartbroken and extremely disappointed with the care my dog received at Crater Animal Clinic…read more I first brought her in because she had lost interest in food. She was prescribed antibiotics, but after a week there was still no improvement. The vet then suggested IV antibiotics, followed by an ultrasound, which showed a small lesion on her liver. The recommendation was a surgical biopsy. When I asked how my dog would recover from surgery when she still wasn't eating, the response I received was simply to "force feed her." Another test was suggested (a chest X-ray), and desperate to help my dog, I agreed. After hours of waiting with no communication, I had to call myself--only to be told by a vet tech that the X-rays showed no abnormalities and the note from the vet was, "continue with what you're doing." When I arrived to pick up my dog, the first thing I was met with was a request for payment--before I was even able to speak with the vet. It became clear to me at that moment that this office prioritizes dollars over the well-being of their patients. To make matters worse, my dog was brought out soiled and clearly uncared for while in their holding kennel. The following day, a home vet came to evaluate her and immediately identified jaundice--something this vet office never mentioned. Tragically, my sweet girl did not recover, and I had to say goodbye. I am sharing this experience because I would never want another pet parent to go through what we did. Our animals deserve compassionate, thorough, and attentive care--qualities I did not see reflected here.
