Sigmund saw Sara at The Groomery today. She was very sweet to him and did a great job. The shop is open and light and appeared clean and professional. It's located in an older style bank of business and unfortunately lacks any green space, tree or shrub for your dog to pee after spending a few hours being groomed. $65 seemed steep for a small dog. read more

They do an excellent job of grooming my dogs (2) but the keep them a long time. The last time it was 6 hours, way too long in a cage.

Dropped my cat off for a bath and hair cut, he was there for 30 mins before she called me stating she couldn't work on him, she said she cut his hair but won't do a bath or a nail trim (i did not ask her to trim his nails), she stated that when she tried to trim his nails he got upset and couldn't do any more on him, my cat get his nails trimmed regularly and has no problem it makes me wonder what actually happened. when i picked him up he was in the back of a kennel shaking, he was shaking almost the entire way home. she shaved him down but didn't even blow off the excess hair trimmings, i gave him a bath when we got home and he did perfectly fine. she also charged me 50$ for his haircut. which may i add was awful! read more

LOVE this place. Was recommend by a family member. Best experience ever. They really know what they are doing. I took my 6 month dog Hachi for a bath, a haircut, and nail trim. Was really satisfy with the results. Definitely would recommend this place to other people. I know I will be returning to this place soon. Reading the other comments here really surprise me. My dog was really happy when I saw him. He couldn't stop lick and wagging his tail at the groomer. Definitely wasn't traumatized by the experience of getting his first haircut. LOVE this place. I have used this groomer before and she did a fine job of grooming my long-haired chihuahua. However, my parents recently took their 10 year old dog there and they won'g go back. Lily has been groomed many times by various groomers and has always done okay, but this time when she came home she was shaking like a leaf and hid under my parents' bed all night. She has never behaved this way before. So I really don't know what to think. But I would rather play it safe and try someone new. read more

No way to rate no stars. Yelp should really fix this issue. That said, please don't take your poor dog/cat here to be groomed. They are hateful and abusive to your animals. I know they do a great job grooming. I was fooled as well until my husband asked to use the restroom. I had taken my dog here three times. FIRST time it seemed really good. My little maltese looked great when i picked him up and i was so impressed with the all over cut and grooming, I tipped the owner $20. SECOND visit my pup was really shaking when I brought him in and dropped him off. I wrote this off as a "oh, he doesn't want a bath today" thing. But when i picked him up 3 hrs later he looked great. and the grooming was very reasonable at only $30 for a full groom, so i tipped $20 again as He had a few matts around where his collar was and the charge was the same as the first time I dropped him with no matts. THIRD time. I had a big problem. When we arrived, again my dog began to shake, and was very scared when we entered The Groomery. The owner was grooming a dog and and a person i had not seen at previous appointments approached us and said, who are you? I told her we had an appointment but were late because of flash flooding from our drive from crescent City(i had called to alert them of being late as the roads were closed off and on due to weather and was assured this was no problem) But when we arrived 1/2 hr late it was obviously a big problem. She and the owner rolled their eyes like i was lying. I reminded them that i called beforehand to tell them that we likely would be late. Then she said, ok, give me the dog, very rudely. My dog at this point was shaking a lot, but I handed him to her. ( stupid me) She proceeded to feel around his neck and felt the matts(3 from wearing his collar all weekend at the beach) and said she would have to shave him. I asked her to please not shave him, it was only three little matts and she could use a wet brush to remove them without shaving, as they did at his previous appointment here. She Informed me she was the groomer this time, and he would have to be shaved Because i was late she had no time to brush him out. Ok. . . So i agreed. She said it would be 3 hrs and she would call me when he was done. 3 1/2 hrs later I called to see about his progress and was told in a half hour he would be ready. We arrived in a half hr and there he was in a crate in the back of the front of the store. I said we were here to pick up my dog and she said he was not ready, he was "resting" I said excuse me? "He is resting from the trauma of brushing out the matts, come back in an hour" "I don't have time to come back, ill just get him now" "Well, he hasn't been trimmed at all! You can't pick him up!" "What?! I want to just pay for him, he's been here nearly 5 hrs. I have to get home!" "Well you cant have him till Im done." This was the most awkward, freakish exchange I've ever had at ANY Store, let alone a dog groomer! So I'm waiting awkwardly while she takes him in the back to "finish cutting" him. Meanwhile, my husband has to use the restroom and asks if he can use theirs. So he comes out with wide eyes and gets in the car. My dog is finally done, and they charged $50 bucks. This was a full $20 more than regular. So no tip. I get in the car and my husband tells me there are about 20 cages with assorted animals in the back, by the restroom he used. He said the poor animals were crying, howling, barking etc., while the workers would bang the cages and yell at them. And one worker was grooming a larger dog back there, yanking him around by the collar and pulling his face towards her and yelling at the poor dog to hold still! He was mortified and disgusted and said no wAy were we EVER going back into that place.v(no wonder my little dog was shaking!!probably scared to death!) To top it off , we get home and this bag of a groomer working on my little Maltese cut off his dew claw on his right paw!! He was licking it like crazy and i looked closely snd she had glued it back with crazy glue, but she tore it off!! I would never step one foot into that place again. They do a good job grooming, but are abusive and mean. If you go in, please stay with your poor dog and watch what they are doing the entire time. I would not have believed people could be so hateful in a place with such great reviews. Obviously They don't know at what cost to those poor animals, that groom is achieved. . read more

Was in town for a week or so and my dog was getting some pretty out of control hair so I decided to take him to get a nice trim. Now, normally, I don't take my little Bosco to just any place because I have a lot of trust issues when it comes to other people handling him. But, I thought I would take a chance with these people and I sure am glad I did. I don't think I've ever taken Bosco to a groomer where he didn't howl or always pull away, but he actually liked his groomer this time. It was unbelievable and overall a great trip. If I lived closer this would definitely be my go to spot. If only more places were this good and caring. read more

If only there was an option for no stars. I should have posted a review right after having taken my yorkie there. Anyways, I had been going here for several years as they do cut dogs hair good. BUT they only manage that after leaving them cut multiple times! For the first many times it wasn't really noticeable. Of course our dogs don't talk to tell us what they go through when we drop them off but how I wish they did to have avoided the trauma mine went through there. The last and FINAL time after bringing him home from there I had a better look after feeling a scab like feel on him.. it was a deep gash on his small body and after I found multiple other cuts. There were no cuts on his body before taking him there, he's a small dog and it's easy to notice these cuts when you pet him and give him usual scratches on his back. Furthermore, I will never go there again and hope anyone as a pet owner who loves their pet will want the best for them and not torture. read more
