I have never seen any business, willingly chase away a customer who was ready to spend a couple of thousand dollars, at their establishment. I walked in and asked for a tire rotation and brake inspection, since the car would be on the rack. I was notified, that since my tire tread was so low, that they would not remove the tires to inspect the brakes. I questioned, how was I supposed to get them to inspect my brakes, if they wouldn't remove the tire? I was pointed to some outright sales gimmick sign behind me, about tread depths, and if they rotated, or removed the wheels and put them back on, that they would be open to being sued should something go wrong. I said, "yes that's a cute sign but there is no legal basis for believing that Commercial Tire would be liable if something failed, after. The greed and corruption illustrated in the handling of something so simple, is amazing. I told the manager on schedule, that maybe some ignorant person would fall in line with this garbage he was spewing to me, but in actuality, the only illegal thing going on, in regards to me wanting a tire rotation and brake inspection, is the EXTORTION that they were attempting to perpetrate on me, and I'm a bit too up on laws and rights for them to be successful in duping me. Why would I pay for new tires, when a smart individual would also like to know what other possible services, they might need, before committing to any costs or services? Commit to new tires, and then be held hostage for other services? Flat out illegal business practice. I asked the manager why he would disregard a customer, especially one that gave CT all his business, and spout off some predatory and extortion based practice. I would imagine that a Honda dealership, would be subject to the same legal exposure, should they inspect a car, it's tires and brakes, and put the tires back on, knowing that the tread was low, and the brakes needed work. That is exactly what happened, just the day before. I explained this to the acting manager, and he was dead stuck on losing any possible brake maintenance money and a full set of new top of the line tires. He was ok with losing a 20 plus year customer, so I left without allowing CT to extort me. I will never give CT my business again. I have never seen any business wish to practice extortion and predatory business practices and be fine with losing customers because of it. I will seek to pass this practice, along to the Idaho AG's office and it may be better to let their employees understand, what is actual law, and what are sales points and gimmicks. BTW, I have had CT, on numerous occasions, repair tires with nails in them, that were below recommended tread depth tolerances, and had them put air in those same exact tires. If CT wishes to spout some BS about USDOT, when USDOT has absolutely NO legal jurisdiction over anything, due to recent SCOTUS rulings, then that is a really bad business model to follow. I understand the manager was simply doing his job, and that type of attitude and mindset, has proven to be devastating to many a business. He is poorly trained, unless CT really does support extortion. What a shame, but I don't do business with criminals. read more

Service has declined since Bob transferred the business to the employees. When he was in charge 30 minutes meant 30 minutes not 2 hours!

I take all our cars there for oil changes. In my recent visit the service was sub-par. They did not inspect or check off the services as promised on their point inspections. They employee that worked on my car left the oil changing site for 15+ minutes. By this time I was there for an entire hour. I ask another associate ( he was playing with his phone) there and he went to find the guy working on my car. In summary, the oil change was completed but not the paperwork. There is plenty of choices when it comes to oil changing services. read more

I've been doing business with Bob Schwenkfelder's Commercial Tire for almost 20 years and when Bob was running the company it couldn't have been better, but ever since he turned it over to the employees service has suffered. In the past when you were told 30 minutes it was 30 minutes. I went into the Eagle Island store today for a wheel rotation for tires I purchased there and was told it would be 30-45 minutes max. I came back 45 minutes later and they still haven't even touched the car. They said maybe another 30+ minutes if they could get it in. I left! I'll do it myself! I'm due for tires soon but it won't be through this store or maybe not even Commercial Tire anymore. Sad! I had my trailer bearing replaced at the Boise store and when I towed to McCall one wheel was extremely loose because they didn't adjust the bearing properly! It had over 1/4" slop. I had to readjust the bearing before returning home. The manager Sam made it good after I complained. It should have been checked prior to releasing the trailer. This could have had a tragic ending! read more

He took a bit off my cost since my tires weren't ready. My truck had a nail or screw stuck in the tire. It had a slow leak that I ignored forever. I just kept putting air in it. I finally dropped it off at the Commercial Tire on Chinden/Linder and walked to the store to kill time while they fixed it. I came back in about 45 minutes and went in to pay. I told them I needed to pay for my truck, the man asked the truck with the tire? I nodded and he said, no charge, have a nice day. It was so cool. I wasn't expecting it and it surprised me. Totally made my day! I told him thanks and left. Now I'm letting you all know. I need tires this fall and I'll be going to them. Thank you Commercial Tire! read more

I've been a long time customer of commercial tire. I own five vehicles I've taken them all there at one time or another to have my tires replaced. I've noticed the quality of service has been going down as the prices have been going up when I had my Lexus with a white leather interior in there they had greasy handprints all over the white leather seats. Also I actually tipped them and gave them extra money to take good care of my car which they did not. They couldn't program the tire pressure sensors in that older Lexus which I understood I was going to take it to Lexus to have them programmed when I got to Lexus I found out that they did not color code the sensors properly so I had to have Lexus remount and balance all my tires. Recently I had to get tires for my economical car tires they don't carry in stock I bought them online they quoted me approximately $200 just to install them. They said that this was an incentive to buy the tires from them in the future. I see it as an incentive to take my business elsewhere permanently read more

We have used our local Commercial tire on the corner of Chinden and Linder here in Meridian several times. This last time, they had a hard time finding parts for my husband 2004 truck. The assistant manager told me they could not remove my winter tires and reinstall my all season tires because the all seasons were "11 years old" and offered to order new tires ($$$). Fortunately, I did not originally buy the tires there and returned to Big O (downtown) to question them as to how I was sold tires (in 2019) that were now...expired. That's a real DOT/safety thing and the reason that, since 2000, all tires are date stamped. They took a look and showed me the manufacture date: the 28 week of 2017. So. Not expired. My all seasons are on the wheels for $80 at Big O. read more

As a business owner that has been in business for 15 years, this is the worst company I have ever worked with. Their billing department sent us to collections after not contacting us at all. They had a wrong email address that they were sending bills to. They tried to call my partner a couple times, without contacting me at all (even though my name and phone number were on the contract). They did not mail a singe bill before sending it to collections, under our personal, not business credit. I have very good credit that they threaten to lower without any notice. When I contacted them, they said they had tried to call my husband (business partner). Well he had been in the hospital for 3 months with a severe illness. Then the collections company started harassing my husband, while he was in the hospital! This is all with our bill being UNDER 90 days past due. We would have happily paid it if they had a correct email or tried to call anyone other then my dying husband! Terrible, terrible business practices. read more

I have gone to Commercial Tires in Meridian a few times now. I never felt particularly welcome as they acted like I was just a pain for getting tires rotated or an oil change. Tuesday, June 3, was the last straw. I got an oil change ($91 for Syn. oil). The service tech didn't get the gasket on the filter seated properly and about a pint of oil leaked on my garage floor. I took it back within a few hours to get the problem taken care of. The tech acted like it was my fault they f-d up. I won't be going back. read more

Came in around 4pm having noticed the "low tire pressure" dash warning. I didn't call ahead, so wasn't sure what to expect. Skyler greeted me and cheerfully said they could have a look at it right away....the next thing I know, he was bringing my keys to me (I was camped out in the comfortable waiting area) and the tire was not only "looked at," but repaired! Whole thing might have taken 20 minutes....Terrific! Very pleasant staff, comfortable space to wait (enough chairs and room to keep your distance if you want), lots of easy parking. read more

I had my Lexus car tires rotated at commercial tire. After I trusted them to do a professional job, I found out after driving 600 miles to a out of state location that commercial tire incorrectly put my larger back tires on the front of the car and moved the smaller tires to the rear axel of the car. After experiencing a terrible rubbing noise in the front wheel wells when trying to make turns, I took the car to a tire store in California. They corrected the mistake made by commercial tire. I called commercial tire from out of state and they promised me they would reimburse me for costs incurred to correct their mistake. After returning to Idaho and asking them 4 times in two months for the reimbursement of fees they never refunded the costs to me!!!! Such liars. Not only did the fail to properly rotate the tires which caused damage to my wheel wells, they also failed to refund the costs incurred from their mistake! Avoid this business like the plague. Poor service and not honest. read more

I was so happy that we had a tire dealer real close that could do my tires and oil changes, and pack my trailer bearings. Until recently I would have given them a 4 or more, however my recent experience soured me on them. Last summer they put a new tire on my boat trailer, but I got a couple of comments that the trailer did not look like it was tracking properly. I did not think Much of it since the tire they put on was new and the other tire still had 80% tread. I recently took the boat out of storage .Boat dealer to prepare it for spring fishing, it had been in storage for about 6 months. I noticed The boat weaving a little and I remember comments I got last summer so while I had it out I took over to commercial tire to see what was wrong. The attendant found out that a bias ply Tire was put on at commercial when the other tire is a radial. Of course this is a no no even Though the attendant didn't seem like it was a big deal. Anyway, he quoted a retail price to Replace the tire and offered no concession even though they screwed up. His excuse was That it was almost a year old. However it had been used a total of 3 months and 200 miles. The tire looks brand new. Needless to say I was totally underwhelmed by his response. I Will think twice before using this facility again. read more

Had some issues with my car so I took my car back in after getting an oil change because the light was on. They told me it was a sensor I paid 178 and left thinking my issue was solved, to find out as I was driving off my engine blew. After taking it to another mechanic I was told commercial tire should have done a oil pressure test and they did not which caused me to blow my engine! Avoid at all costs if you don't wanna lose your money and car! I now have to spend 3000 on a new engine because of this place. They refused to give me a refund as well! After speaking with corporate I was told they will not give a refund because they "Did the correct diagnostics". They said they spoke with some different mechanics and they confirmed "That one does not need to hook a gauge to verify that pressure was actually bad, and that simply just replacing the sensor was correct and if that did not fix it continue billing and diagnosing " After hearing this I decided to call 3 more mechanics asking if this was actually true. Everyone said - "We would verify the pressure before replacing the sensor, and tell you you would need to have an oil pressure reading done." That now puts a total of 6 licensed mechanics saying that an oil pressure reading would have confirmed the issue and that would have been where they started. That any shop that fixes without verifying the the part will actually fix the issue is simply out to get money by fixing every issue that could cause it allowing for the company to make money on unnecessary repairs. So not sure what mechanic you guy's talked to but may want to have them go back to school! . I have now spoken with 10 licensed mechanics across the Treasure Valley and none of which have said the proper way to diagnose is to just keep replacing parts until it works. Going to the chevy dealership tomorrow to get this in writing from a licensed master mechanic! read more

Very poor experience. Initially came in for an oil change. Went it with 4 working TPMS sensors. When I received my car back, it was initially reported that 3 TPMS sensors were broken. I asked the tech to look again and he shared that it was only one TPMS sensor that was broken and that he had made a mistake. Location claimed that it was broken when the car arrived (another mistake). Had several conversations with the manager and she said there was nothing they could do outside of giving me a discount to fix what they broke. I wanted this location to be my "go to car" place, but because of this recent situation, I will be going someplace else. Buyer beware. read more

I wish I could give this local business a positive review, but my experience was not a positive one. I stopped in due to a flat tire. While "working" on my vehicle the technician broke a lug stud. I was told about the damaged stud and informed that a replacement was on its way. An hour later, the car was ready to go. I asked what I owed for the flat repair and was told that the repair to the tire was complimentary. However, I was then told that they would, and I quote, "get to charge me" for the repair of the broken stud. I then received an invoice for 37$ (parts & labor) for replacement of the 3$ lug stud that they broke! A 37$ charge for replacing a lug stud may be the deal of the century, but is this really your business practice to charge your customer when your technician damages or breaks your vehicle? This customer quietly paid the bill and will quietly take all of his vehicles elsewhere for service. read more

They are not ASE certified mechanics and give false quotes for unnecessary work. Our oldest son just turned 18 and brought his car here for just tire rotation. He came out with $800 quote saying struts all lose and car wont make it far, should be fixed right away. Thankfully he called while still at Commercial Tires and we talked our son out of paying for the repairs right then. Within a week we had vehicle into ASC Certified mechanic, Bronco Motors and they physically showed the car while on the lift not a thing was wrong with it. Commercial Tires was just out to make money off of a young child ... Terrible service and dishonest. read more

Went to this store during their grand opening celebration. Lots of stuff going on... car show, radio station there. I asked the manager if she could relay a message to the alignment tech... to ask him if he could check to see if the camber spec on my car could be adjusted to something closer to zero degree. She said she would most certainly tell him. Two hours go by and my car was finished (they also installed two new rear tires, mounted balanced them and swapped sides on the fronts). The tech showed me the spec sheet and it showed -2.0 degrees camber. I then asked if the manager had spoken to him about my request. Negative. He had no idea of my request. I thought, well maybe too many distractions with their grand opening show and the crowds etc. The tech was nice enough to write on the invoice that I could bring my car in at a later date for the adjustment and it would also give him a chance to check on how much it could be adjusted. Inconvenient, but I agreed. I went home and started doing my Saturday afternoon work around the house. My son comes home and checks out the new rear tires. He then tells me that something is not right. One tire tread is going in one direction and the other is going in the opposite direction. What!? I became livid at that point! I immediately called Commercial Tire and commenced to really telling them how I felt about what happened! They apologized and asked to bring my car in immediately to fix the tire. Sure; I'll drive 10 miles one way to get their mistake fixed. When I got there, the manager apologized, said mistakes happen. I said; yes they do but this one goes beyond a simple mistake. I know the tech would have had multiple times to verify the tires were installed in the correct direction. I worked as a tire tech in the past and I work on my vehicles all the time. If my son hadn't noticed the tire installed incorrectly, I honestly do not know how long it would have taken me to notice... days, weeks, months; then what, call them at that point with a ruined tire? What about handling and safety concerns? The manger refunded a good portion of my bill and I appreciated her gesture of reconciliation. I asked one more time if they can find out about the camber setting. She and the tech said they would call me by Wednesday. They never called so I called them on Thursday and asked. The manager said that they 'could' not adjust it (more like would not adjust it). So, they basically washed their hands of my whole ordeal with them. I have gone to Commercial Tire many times in the past but this was the last straw. Tire shops are a dime a dozen... we go to these shops expecting a level of expertise and professionalism. If they can make such a simple yet critical mistake like this, what else do they let go as 'fixed'. Time to move on. And so I did... I went to the local Les Schwab. They had no qualms about setting the camber from -2.0 degrees to -1.6 degrees. As always... buyer beware. read more

Poor customer service after purchase. Once you have bought something they are not interested in helping you at all. I have bought two sets of tires, and recently a lift kit at this location. They stated that I needed to have my alignment checked and the bolts checked within 2 to 3 weeks after installation. It is now over six weeks and multiple visits back there and still have not had my alignment readjusted, which is now off, or the bolts retightened. Every time I go they tell me they are too busy. I have attempted to make an appointment, they will not allow me to make appointment stating that I just need to drop in. I have called before coming in, I have dropped in. However they are never free to perform the work they told me I needed. I am now driving with an alignment that is pulling and don't know about the tightness of the bolts. I recommend you go elsewhere. read more

The day before Thanksgiving I dropped my Yukon off right before close to get my flat tire repaired. They fixed it that evening and left it for me to pick up that night. They were closed so I couldn't pay them. When I called them to pay, they said it was free. That was really cool of them- especially given it was 6:00 pm the day before Thanksgiving. They could've said "forget it" and gone home. read more

I decided to try Express Care near my home for an oil change instead of where I normally go, which is Jiffy Lube on Fairview near the intersection with Meridian Road. I pulled up their website and printed the $7 off coupon. I went to the location, which is part of Commercial Tire in the Fred Meyer parking lot at the corner of Chinden and Linder. Here's my review ... PROS: clean, professional, pleasant, and Austin was trained at the College of Southern Idaho. CONS: According to the them, "this isn't a Valvoline Express Care location," despite the signage on the building stating that; they're a "Commercial Tire location who uses Valvoline products." So they didn't honor the coupon. They did give me $7.50 off by becoming a loyalty member. Evidently my 2013 Toyota Highlander took 6.4 quarts of oil and their "$57.95 Synthetic Blend oil and filter change" only includes 5-quarts, so I was charged an additional $9.17 for 1.4 quarts of oil. After the $7.50 off and tax the total came to $63.65. My recommendation is to buy Jiffy Lube's $115 synthetic blend 3-pak on-line ... that's $38.33 per oil/filter change. Please note that I've never been charged extra for oil at Jiffy Lube. read more
