Comics & Paperbacks Plus is a shop located on Main St Palmyra, a borough between Harrisburg and Lebanon. They are in the converted ground level of a house, so parking is on the street. The shop is spread across several rooms and the only concern with this setup is handicap accessibility, as the rooms are a little narrow. Stock is spread across the rooms, hallways, and closets. It can seem maze like but is clean and well organized. New pull selection is good, with racks everywhere. Short boxes are also everywhere, with an excellent selection that has surprising depth. Has a fair Manga selection, not usual for comic shops. Perhaps the most unique feature of this shop is the paperback book selection, with a surprising amount of stock. I did not see any Graphic Novels when exploring the shop. The only comment I would make is some of the stock seemed dated and possibly a sale is needed to thin out less relevant items. Owner knew his shop well, answered every question we asked, and showed us the location of every item we asked about. What was more impressive was he knew the local comic shop scene, as many shop owners do not. I will be returning to this impressive comic shop that arguably in the extended Harrisburg area could be the best. read more

Nice local comic and bookstore. I've visited a couple times for the paperback section, and while they haven't had the specific book I've been looking for on my visits, the owner is always more than ready to help order or find a book that I'm interested in. Ralph is amazing he runs a tight ship and really looks after his customers. I moved from Chicago and looked for a new place to get my Marvel comic fix. Ralph has it in spades and also runs a fantastic consignment business with great vintage comics every week. He has a great selection of well organized new and old comics on hand with dedicated sections for DC Marvel and other comics as well as paper backs. For my 300th Yelp Review I wanted to think of something personal and special. It occurred to me that it doesn't get better than Comics & Paperbacks Plus! This store is the first business I ever frequented as a kid, walking or riding my bike to peruse the countless treasures, both those on paper and those of molded plastic. It started as just coming in and looking around, but as my interests diversified, luckily so did the items they carry. I remember buying hard to find new toys, vintage toys, comic books, and the occasional novel. As I grew up, so did the store; it's increased from just a few rooms to the entire first floor of the historic home in which it resides. The store is located in a classic Pennsylvania house, right along main street. It's one of the best kept businesses in Palmyra, adding to the visual appeal of the town. It's in walking distance from anywhere else along main street, with wonderful restaurants and bars nearby. The store is bright, clean, and well organized. They always stock the latest comics and have pull-bins for people who wish to have subscriptions easily done for them. In one expansion both Marvel and DC got their own rooms! The store also has older comics in long boxes all over the store, so it can be fun to dig for that special issue. Make sure to look behind the counter for variant covers and rare issues. Books are another main item: paperback mysteries, romance, and others. One of the best sections is the local Pennsylvania history, which includes many ghost books of the region, especially Gettysburg and Hershey. There is an interest of the owner in keeping history alive and making it available to the customers; you will find some local gems! Collectibles are also scattered around the store. Both modern and vintage, you never know what you'll find. Over the years, I always enjoyed looking in the glass cases to see what new old things came in. Prices of everything are cover price or reasonable. Look out for excellent sales and deals in bulk comics. For locals and tourists alike, be sure to stop in if you enjoy pop culture! Say hello to the owner, Ralph Watts, and ask him about Palmyra! You will not find a friendly shop owner and someone who cares so much about the town he calls home. He's equally knowledgeable about both pop culture and the local area. Kudos for the graphic novels section at the Palmyra Public Library that was donated by the store for people to read for free. Large, quaint comic & paperback store right on Main Street (422) in Palmyra. A quick 2-block walk from anywhere downtown (and when you're in downtown Palmyra, pretty much anything is a quick walk away). These guys are terrific. I have them save a certain series for me that releases a new issue monthly, and they do so without any complaint whatsoever. Prices are low, selection is HUGE, and they have plenty of collectibles to keep most enthusiasts happy. The staff here is ALWAYS very nice, have gone out of their way several times, and are very knowledgeable. I keep coming back to them and will continue to do so. First-rate service always goes a long way with me. read more

First the Good - this comic store has a lot of merchandise. Lots of back issues for good prices and they have all the current material for the those that like reading the latest stories from their favorite characters. Now the bad - The owner of the store (his name is Ralph) could use a lesson on customer service. In 2011 I was a loyal customer and had several subscriptions with Ralph. During that time he was having a HUGE sale on back issues, something like 90% off on back issues. I remember asking him why he was discounting everything so much and he said he had so much inventory he wanted to move back issues. He also wanted to reward his customers for shopping and try and attract new customers with the sale. I then had a change in jobs and was no longer near Palmyra so I ended my subscriptions. Now fast forward to the end of 2014. I find myself in Palmyra and decided to stop by my favorite comic store. Ralph's business model had completely changed, it was no longer about the customer but sadly about the money. He was rude to me and couldn't answer any of my questions. He also quoted to me "I'm in business to make money" Now I know thats a necessary part of having a business but what about the love of the comic!!! What about the customer, the store was dirty, and random books were blocking areas to shop. Annoying 80's rock was playing too loudly in the back ground and things weren't the same. If you are willing to over-look the rude owner and his hunger for the almighty dollar you can still find good prices just don't expect anything else. read more

Great comic shop. Ralph, the owner, carries new comics along with thousands of back issues from the last few decades, not just back issues from the last 3 months! They have a subscription service for new comics and are always willing to place special orders for you. They also sell books on consignment. This shop is a real comic shop, not a toy shop or card game shop with a few comic racks. You will be in here for hours! read more
