Another unique and special shop in downtown Lancaster. They have toys and kids products you just…read morewon't find at your typical big box store. The shop is large with plenty of play areas for kids. My own kids spent hours here and didn't want to leave. We have so many toys. And I'm not one to buy any more since I feel like my kids just have too many! But I couldn't help but get a few things here since the inventory is just so unique. They have such great educational toys and things I've never seen before in any other store. One toy in particular that stood out was a marble maze constructed of large blocks that was manufactured in Germany. The quality is high and the service is helpful. We all walked away just having the best time here.

They didn't check the…read moreinventory they received and gave me the wrong mattress as I'm moving to Germany on mil orders at 30w pregnant. I go to expand the crib a few months later and realize they gave me the wrong mattress. It's Stokke, but it's an older model and 6" too short. I immediately order one off the economy here since kiddo can't safely sleep in her crib at its mini size anymore. They refuse to refund me and blame the vendor. They offer no reconciliation other than to eat the $250 or take a second mattress when I had to buy a new one already. I tried supporting small business but they clearly don't care to stand by the customer and make it right. They should be refunding me and dealing with the vendor independently. Terrible experience with this store. After I purchased the crib, btw, they called me to tell me I'd have to come back (an hour drive while packing to move overseas and pregnant) to pick it up and wouldn't deliver to my location. Then they dropped it while loading it into my car. You can see products at the store, sure, but I'm going straight to vendor websites from now on. The benefit of going to a store is that they'll do everything in their power to make it right. Apparently this store didn't get the memo. UPDATE: I held onto my order from a local retailer intending to return it with the replacement mattress Stokke sent. They sent the wrong mattress. ... They've finally decided to refund me after much back and forth. When I expressed I could no longer return the mattress I had to purchase here and reiterated that them telling me to wait any longer was a matter of child safety.

Thank goodness for 4th Wall…read more The owners are all fantastic -- friendly, knowledgeable, and really know how to make their customers feel welcome and happy. The comics along the wall are newer (#1s are all the way toward the back of the store), and on the shelves you can find what you're looking for by imprint and then title. All the big names are there -- Marvel and DC -verse standards, Walking Dead, everything Brian K. Vaugh has ever done. Older issues are in $.50 boxes that are fun to dig through. If there's something you don't see, they're able to put in an order for you. We did that for a specific series my daughter was looking for (Phoebe and Her Unicorn), and we received a call a week or two later that it was ready for pick up. On one of our early visits, my daughter and I were having a conversation lamenting the lack of lead female characters that weren't just eye candy or a "girl" version of the something-something-"Man" version. She loves comics, but is still just an impressionable 9-year-old and isn't ready for some of the nuanced or complicated story lines, love trysts, and often over-sexualized imagery found in comics. Jared joined in our conversation and introduced us to Lumberjanes (which we adore), Smile, and Squirrel Girl. Since then, we've also found Silk, Princeless, Nimona, and Ms. Marvel. And I can't remember if it was him or Jim who introduced me to East of West, but his recommendation for me was just as spot-on as for my daughter. East of West is now one of my go-tos, along with Saga, Rat Queens, Papergirls (yes, yes, I'm an Image fan), Black Panther, etc. Find a series you like? Sign up for a subscription -- you can come pick your issues up at your convenience. Looking for more than just comics? There are tons of Funko pops (whole shelving section) and more high-end statuary (glass case at checkout) for the collectors, a small section for kid-appropriate (reasonably priced) comics, and all sorts of fun games along the wall opposite the new comics (board games, card games, D&D, etc.). The store has recently expanded, and now their gaming space is contained in a separate section, opening up more room in the "main" store for comic boxes and displays. If you're interested in gaming, check out their Facebook page or Instagram account. They're pretty active, and you'll find info on upcoming events.

It's located INSIDE of State Theater Vintage Emporium, which is an adventure in itself. Walk in the doors, go up the stairs and its the first "big" fixture/box shop on the left. They carried everything and anything anime and Japanese from plush, figures, cards/card games to even straight from Japan video games and trinkets for Ita Bags. They even had some Pocky, Ramune and other Japanese snacks for purchase. I think we saw the owner restocking as we perused and he was very personable mentioning he could answer any questions we had.
