I came to comic quest after visiting nuclear comics, and this is the store that I will be frequenting from now on! The people behind the counter were incredibly helpful in helping me find the series I was looking for. I'm new to comic collecting, and they had the patience to explain to me some of the basics. While I was there I took a look around the store, and they have a good selection of everything. There's a lot of RPG stuff and miniatures, on top of comics. It seemed like they had a sale section with a generous discount as well, although I didn't buy anything from it. Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase and the price I paid for it. read more

I came down to Comic Quest for a signing event. I had never been there before because I live up in LA County. I was pleasantly surprised with how large the shop is, with a huge collection of comics, games, and all kinds of tabletop gaming supplies. The staff were helpful and kind to my small children that were tagging along, they even had an entire section of comics and books for the little ones. I can't imagine coming back here often because of the distance. I wish there was a spot like this near me, and highly recommend it as a spot for gamers and comic fans of all ages. read more

I went to Comic Quest looking for a set of dice and a specific board game. The store has a solid selection of dice, though they are spread across three different areas. My son was able to find a set he really liked, which was a great starting point for his D&D adventures. They also had the board game I was looking for in stock and priced at MSRP, which I appreciated. Overall, a well-stocked shop that delivers on core tabletop needs. read more

Guy in the store was extremely rude and wouldn't let my brother buy a pack of pokemon cards because he sees me in the store a lot and thought I was trying to scalp packs, and really it was for my brother best friend who gave him money before hand. I appreciate not letting scalpers over buy, but the guy was unfriendly and super rude to my brother for no real reason. I was going to have a pack opening party today with my brothers best friend, and now I am the only one with box set to open later today. I never write reviews but when someone hates their life it really upsets me when they take there misery out on a paying customers. I will not longer support this shop with my business.... plenty of other ma and pa shops I would rather support. read more

Not a real local comic bookstore! Got the worst service today even though I drop in with my daughter every week. Saw an issue or book interested and asked for back issues. There was an issue with some Creases or discoloration and wouldn't allow me to open it. (There are signs not to open) Go elsewhere! Much better comic bookstores in the area. I used to really like this shop, they did a good job of having Pokemon cards in stock. When I would buy cards off them they were always a little expensive but still very reasonable priced. I understand they have to make some money too, but this week they had some Mega Evolution ETB in stock and they were asking for a ridiculous price. They were charging top dollar a scalper would be asking for and because the set is desirable I believe they asked for much more than I have paid with them in the past. They usually ask for about 75 dollars per ETB and this week they were asking for 115! That is such an unfair and unreasonable price to ask for just because the set is desirable. Maybe I am wrong but I can imagine they get all their ETB for the same "shop price" and so I declined to purchase one. When I went online to Facebook Market and Offer Up, there was a few people asking for 120 for one Mega Evolution ETB, but for the most part people were asking for the normal 100 an ETB Mega Evolution and this shop had the audacity to charge 115!!!!! Even still 75-80 should be the going rate, I never pay more than 75/80 online for one ETB. It was an unfair price and I felt they were just taking advantage of the buyers because the set has had so much hype and everyone is excited for the Mega evolution and Pokemon cards high demand and popularity lately. Lower your prices and give the collectors a fair price, don't act like a scalper who all us collectors despise. I will not be going back to this shop until prices change and they don't take advantage of us true collectors and fans. read more

The people and the place were great. Just wanted to pick up the new blood hunt and X-force and check out what they had. Cool statues of superheroes like Deadpool. Prices were the same almost everywhere...cover price. Was hoping some discount on grafic novels, but no such luck. The guy at the counter was kind to let us use the restroom and even gave us ideas for things to do in San Juan Capistrano. read more

Top notch game score with just about everything you'd expect for game nerds, especially those into miniatures and gaming systems, as well as the more casual board games for families, friends, and even kids. 'Comic' is in the name and they do have comics. However, the back issues are definitely on the light side and you're better served if you're looking for this weeks newest releases from DC, Marvel, Dark Horse, Image, and Boom! And yet the TPB and graphic novel inventory is solid and they'll order whatever you need. The staff is always responsive and emanating, they've got a big game table area, and they regularly host game nights. Arguably, Comic Quest is the best game store in Southern California. Plus, they have comics. read more

This place is where me and my friends would hang out pre pandemic when they had the smaller store next door. I love playing board games here. Always have a good selection. Almost the exact price as online stores but your supporting a local store. Place has so many gems it's my own personally toy store. I spend so much money here also don't forget to get your special occasion or birthday dice! read more

Their VAST selection of comics, the ones on the walls are the most exclusive ones and brand new releases! The staff is super friendly and are constantly checking in and making sure we don't need any help or if we have any questions they make sure to answer them or help us to the best of their ability. They have little knick knacks (dice, cases, etc) for your comics or everyday card games. You're always greeted with a smile on your face. It is a little hidden but if you're familiar with the area it's an easy find. Would definitely recommend to anyone passing through or just looking for another comic location to add to their list of finds. read more

They need to retrain whoever is answering the phone. They need better customer service and sound like they want to be there. This person (some dude) rudely answers the phone and when I asked for a certain release he said "I don't know" doesn't even bother looking it up or asking someone else. I asked him for their discord and he said "I don't know" ... This has happened a couple times that I just don't bother with this store anymore. Sadly, this is a cool place with nice product, even with their higher cost on some product, but hard pass every time someone suggests this store. read more

Came here just for board games, so I can't really comment on the comic book selection or anything like that. If you get here via Google maps, I recommend not pulling in and parking in the little mall parking lot. Just keep going down and park in the little cul-de-sac section and you'll be right in front of the store! Anyways, once I entered the store, I was promptly asked if I needed any help/what I was looking for. The employees seemed very knowledgeable since they quickly led me to exactly what I was looking for. I asked some other questions and the employee then went to check on their database to see if it was available. I wish they had a bigger Euro game selection but overall this store was a cool find in Lake Forest! read more

The new location is great; very clean and much more space. The store has a smaller selection of comics and more for RPG, board games, and card games. There were a lot of people in the shop. The staff was super friendly and helpful. No negative vibes. They do buy comics but only on Saturdays. Will be back again soon! read more

I Came here last week and my inner child was thrilled. They have so much great stuff and they also have board games that will make you ALMOST buy everything. Ended up purchasing Love letter (Star wars edition). If you have not played this game I would recommend it.! Definitely will be coming back. read more

The labor shortage these days is hurting all businesses, and causing folks to hire people who really aren't qualified, but there is really zero excuse for bad customer service. My son and I bought a Nightwing graphic novel yesterday, and when we got home, found he already had it. Tried to return it without it even being opened today. First round was they started by saying they don't take them back, and finally they asked if I had a receipt. I explained that I didn't get a receipt yesterday, my bad as I said I didn't want one, as any business with 1990's technology can track a purchase by your credit card. After the second or third time of him asking for a receipt, I just said fine, keep it, and I left. So if anyone is looking for a free Nightwing graphic novel, just ask for Kenny. If he tries to charge you, refer him to this review where you saw it's already paid for, $18.31 including tax. The sad part is that we spend over $100 three to four times a year here. Now they'll never see another dime from us, all for the satisfaction of not refunding a $18.31 graphic novel. Forrest Gump understood taking care of customers, hard to figure out why these folks can't. read more

Diana and I shopped at Conic Quest on 23811 Bridger in Lake Forest. I found a Comic Quest ad on our mailer of Shop & Dine with coupons and found out they also sell board games. I was looking for a board game called Yahtzee and a card game called Pinnacle, but they didn't have them in the store. I asked if I could order those two games but they said that they could not. I don't think they sell many board games, but I could order comic books! Diana found three card games that she bought. Sushi Go, Deckscape, and Fiuxx from Stat Trek the next generation. We don't plan on going back, since they couldn't even order the games I wanted. Then we walked outside and took a photo. We drove off to find my next review. Robert H. read more

The only thing that bugs me is this place is cramped, like the aisles are too small and it's all disorganized. They do have a ton of stuff here, so you're likely to find something you like. Some of the workers follow you around like a lost dog, that kind of bugged me when I was browsing. Much like I said about it being cramped, it's odd when you're in a store with little walkways and a worker is pestering you while you walk through it. They don't have the best prices either, I found cheaper cards from Walmart instead of this place. Not saying anything is wrong with that, but it's odd when you browse through Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh! cards and they're all overpriced based on condition. But it's strange because they don't deal with sports, they just rip off kids for their Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh! cards (probably Magic the Gathering too). This is more of a novelty store, they don't have a huge inventory of comics They have board games, Anime and comic stuff like shirts and toys, but not actual comic books. Comic quest is the gem of Lake Forest, right off the 5 freeway and El Toro. They have stock of games that you cannot find anywhere else. The staff is supportive of your habit, and can share their knowledge and experience of gameplay. Aaron was able to hold my game order while we drove from Arizona to a birthday in CA. We tried many other game stores along the way and they were out of the game we needed. When we came in, Aaron helped me add another game and weighed in on the choices and helped me choose between amazing options.
