This is a pleasant store in a newly renovated shopping center. Unfortunately I am unable to wear the shoes I purchased there due to the inability of a store employee to fit me correctly. I had saved up for a pair of Danskos and couldn't wait to wear them. I was saddened at how uncomfortable they were and assumed I just needed to wear them longer to break them in until I was informed by several friends that they were several sizes too small. The store refuses to accept their error so I am stuck having given them $125 for unwearable shoes. If I wanted the wrong size I would have just ordered them online for less. I regret now my decision to support local business and trust what I assumed was a fitting expert. Be careful if you go as the employee may not be as knowledgeable about shoes as you would like and, if not, you will be sorely disappointed. read more

I was a week away from starting a new nursing job and decided to stop by to look at their Danskos. It's a nice little shop with a pretty decent selection to choose from, especially if you want Danskos. Their prices are on par with most other retailers in the area. Unlike another reviewer, I did not find the salespeople to be pushy by any means. I not once felt obligated to purchase any shoes and was even reminded I could always return the shoes if I change my mind (as long as I only wear them inside). The only thing that did get me was that there were 2 salespeople working, 1 tended to me while the other tended to some older ladies. The person working with me did not seem to be very knowledgeable about Danskos and was not able to answer all my questions. HOWEVER, the other salesperson was extremely knowledgeable. I don't think the person that helped me really knew how to ensure I was buying the right size and fit. :/ If you already know what you need and how everything fits and just want to look at their selection and buy a shoe, then you'll have no problem here. read more

Don't base your opinion on old reviews. Go and see for yourself. I have never felt rushed or pressured by the sales staff at Comfortable Soles. If anything, they held back too much. The only reason for the 4 stars rather than 5 is that I have not been to Comfortable Soles for a while. It is a further drive for me than some other stores. But I have always been pleased with their selection of better shoes. They have really cute styles. Their shoes are a bit expensive, so be prepared to feel a sting in your pocket. read more

This store has a good variety of comfortable shoes, even some fashion-y Clarks. I've bought shoes and accessories on three different occasions so I think I can give a fair and not a knee-jerk low rating. The service here is really not good. It verges on aggressive but is unhelpful at the same time. Like, I'll ask if they have a shoe in my size and the person will just say "No" and not offer something similar. It's hard to get questions answered, like if a shoe will be non slip. I also don't appreciate being laughed at for the shoes I'm trying on not fitting (happened on two occasions!). They have a stingy return policy which I have not had reason to use. They are at least upfront about it. I think I keep stopping in because it's a convenient location for me, but I honestly often leave feeling bad about myself or frustrated. Great Outdoor Provision is a few doors down and they have been excellent. read more

I went in the store today. There were 2 girls working in the store AND trying on the shoes. I waited for about 5 minutes to see if they could pull themselves away from playing dress-up to help a customer. Another couple walked in. One of the girls took a break from trying on shoes to ask the couple if they needed help. Needless to say, me and my worn out birkenstocks left the store. They would have had a sell if they would have only acknowledged my presence. I will DEFINITELY be spending my money with another company who truly appreciates the art of customer service. read more

They sized me too small for a pair of Dansko clogs. I work daily and am constantly on my feet. While the shoes did help with my back issues, I quickly developed tendinitis in my left foot and the tips of my toes are practically dead. When I went back to the store, they refused to recognize or accept that they had sized me wrong. In addition to not exchanging the shoes, they also claimed they could not stretch them for me. That's $150 down the drain and some jacked up feet to boot. I decided to look at other shoes in the store and the lady kept bringing out shoes that were even a size smaller than the ones I needed to return. I told her no less than five times that size is too small for me. In short, these people are idiots and offer no help once the shoes they incorrectly sized you for ruin your feet. read more

I drove 45 minutes to get some help with finding a comfortable shoe for a heel injury. The young sales woman to whom I described my issue glazed over after a sentence and told me it was her fourth day. She went to ask her manager, who had her tell me he wasn't aware of any shoes specifically supporting plantar fasciitis, and to "just try on all of them." Seriously? I just left. read more

I'm sad to have to give Comfortable Soles one star, but it's warranted. They have a great selection of Danskos, Merrells, Birkenstocks, Clarks, and other comfy shoes with prices comparable to a little higher than other local retailers. The main reason I won't buy anything here is the aggressiveness of the sales staff. Go to Townsend and Bertram in Carr Mill Mall in Carrboro instead. They have super helpful staff who don't pressure you to purchase anything. Because I have the freedom to browse as I like there, I almost always leave with a purchase. read more

My experience has been okay with this particular store. If I wait long enough, I can typically purchase the shoes I want on-line at a cheaper price. For the brands they carry, they have alot of selection which isn't necessarily the case at other stores that carry similar brands. read more

I wanted to update because my previous review was 2011. I stopped by the store recently just to look at new styles they may carry. A saleswoman did come to help me, only after I had asked her a question, and she wasn't aggressive at all. It was a much better experience than two years ago! I'm just giving three stars this time because their stock is somewhat limited, and I couldn't find shoes that were a little bit dressy, that fit, and were comfortable, and that I could afford. read more

I love this place! Typically I but all my shoes at Nordstrom but when they didn't have the pair or Birkenstocks that I wanted I went to comfortable soles! I was really impressed with Jim! He was laid back and really helped me find the right fit because they can be kind of different from typically shoe sizes. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for knowledgeable sales people for great shoes! read more

They have a 14 day return policy (even with a receipt and impeccably clean shoes) that they fail to mention when I bought them (though I told them I was in doubt about keeping them). Ridiculous! read more

Absolutely the worst customer service I've ever received. The shop associate measured my foot and provided me with the supposed correct size shoes. A few days later I realized that this was too big and had started to give me a sore. I tried calling the store but none of the associates would speak to be about an exchange. They all informed me that I would have to wait for the owner to come in and speak to him directly. After calling daily, I finally got in touch with the owner who's response was that I should try and sell the shoes on Craigslist and use the proceeds to come back to the store and buy a new pair of shoes. He did not care at all that this issue was due to the store employee sizing me incorrectly in the first place nor did he care that the shoes had only been purchased days ago and work only once. Again, this was the worst customer service I've ever received. Save yourself a headache and just shop for the shoes online. Don't waste your time or money on this place. read more
