Moving can be one of the most stressful things in a person's life. There are many plans to be made and every piece of the puzzle needs to fit exactly into place or the whole project gets thrown off. So hiring the right moving company is key to the proper execution of your well laid out plans. I recently moved and hired Comfortable Moving company as my movers. I explained to the small business owner Sam ahead of time that I needed a specific date and time and that I had fragile items, such as stained glass and art and antiques that were precious to me and that the last movers broke one of my stained glass lamps and scratched one of my antique pieces. They were also over an hour late when they promised to be on time. Sam assured me, they would be on time and had the experience to handle valuable pieces. I explained to Sam that this was a little different move because I had two stops. The first stop after pick up to my storage unit and the second to my new home, which is way up in the woods of battleground. He seemed confident that he and his team could do the job and questamated it to be about a six to eight hour job. He was nice, professional and organized. That timeframe sounded close to what other moving companies told me although some were guessing as long as 12 hours. I called and spoke to about nine different companies with price qoutes as low as $99/hr to $198/hr. I chose Comfortable Moving because they had excellent prices and Sam spent extra time asking me qualifying questions that led me to believe his company truely cared that my move would be successful, smooth and easy. He didn't have a fast sales talk, he just was honest and I got the sense that his customers mattered to him. The day of the move Sam and his employee, Mike arrived right on time, were professional and ready to go and I appreciated that too. Once Sam and Mike were shown what pieces went to storage and what went to the new home they immediately went to work while I watched. In the past, I have learned with all moving companies, to be alert and on top of things to insure my items a safe arrival. I'm usually always giving out more instructions on how I want my items handled and wrapped. Well, you can imagine my amazement when I didn't have to say a word because Sam and Mike did what I can only say was an extraordinary excellent job of wrapping and securing my items for travel. In fact, I felt so comfortable with their expertise after watching them in action for just a bit, that I actually sat down, relaxed and surfed Facebook. I can assure you that has NEVER happened before! I can only explain it like this: it was like movers gold. Those two men had the best teamwork I have ever seen. It was magic and it was amazing and I wouldn't of believed it if I hadn't seen it first hand. I never had to open my mouth to give any instructions the whole time and I was blown away at how fast and how precise they were! They loaded the truck and I followed them to my storage unit. Sam said it would take about 20 minutes to unload items into the unit. I explained that it may take longer because the unit wasn't a drive up. They had to bring the items down a hall to the last unit. Sam and Mike got to work as I sat in my car, with my dog and started to send a quick email. I hadn't even hit send, when I looked up and couldn't believe they were already finished! I checked the unit and sure enough it was organized above my expectations. I kept thinking...omg, I have never had movers this good in my life and I have moved both long distance, out if state, to local. We then went to my new home, which, btw also had a lot of stairs like the first house. I asked if the men would like some water or soda and they said they were just fine and thank you. Very polite and never once hit a wall, broke an item, or took a call. These two fabulous young men had a mission to deliver me the best move ever and they were spot on and I'm not an easy customer. I know exactly what I want and they came through with flying colors AND... in 4 HOURS!! Seriously! Often times we look for big brand names to do business with because the name is familiar and overlook the smaller business. I am so very glad I made the gut decision to hire Comfortable Moving. I hope you do the same. Whether you have a small, large or out of state long distant move, you won't regret it if you hire Comfortable Moving, that I KNOW FOR SURE! They did and were exactly what they said they were. No fakes there and in these times that is extremely rare. We could not have been more impressed with the speed, careful protection of our things and PRICE! They were almost half the cost of the next best quote and did it in less time than anyone else said it would take. I hope I tipped them enough. We had a 10'x20' and 30" tall stage that we disassembled into at least 50 huge sections. Giant think plysheets, beams, huge brackets, heavy as hell staircases, under stage of roller carts we couldn't lift on our own etc. They loaded it all up, drove 30 minutes north and then brought it into our ballroom on the second floor with no elevator and tight clearances and hallways. We have 23 stairs! These two guys didn't leave a scratch on the walls, a ding anywhere, no damage to any of the pieces and stacked it all tight behind our staging curtain like they were Tetris masters- and did it in under 3 hours. Unreal. They may be a smaller outfit, but they're independent, so you don't pay the franchising fees like other moving companies have to charge, they accept payment once the job is complete and their pricing was incredible. WE COULDN'T BE HAPPIER! THERE'S NO REASON TO CALL ANYONE ELSE! Believe me. I got quotes from everyone in Vancouver and they were not only the most affordable but it was the best moving experience I've ever had with a company. I contacted Sam for a June 2022 weekday move within Portland. Of all the movers that I contacted, I was most impressed with Sam because during our virtual quote session, he gave me the most detailed and personalized quote. Not only did he provide the standard estimate of materials, cost and time needed, but he also gave a specific breakdown of the hours of time that he thought would be needed for packing/loading the truck, transport, and unloading the truck. Perhaps this is a small thing, but I really appreciated the extra time and thoughtfulness during the first call. The day of the move went great. Sam and his team were punctual, the whole process was much faster than expected, and all our things arrived without a scratch. At one point, we ran into a slight snafu with where to park the truck at the destination (out of our control) and Sam was flexible and found a solution quickly to keep the move going efficiently. We were very pleased with the professionalism and care Sam and Mike exhibited during my mom's move. Their quote was spot on (actual price even came in a bit less). Sam let us know ahead of time how many breaks they would take and how long they would be, which was appreciated. The two of them worked very hard all day! This move involved lots of heavy furniture. These guys were great! I called a bunch of companies that I saw had good reviews, and Comfortable Moving's rates and approach looked like the best option. The guys that actually did the move were very professional, careful, efficient and helpful. When they arrived I showed them what needed to be moved, though then as we went I made some additional requests and they were very gracious about helping move everything as the list grew. I live in Vancouver, Wa. I got three separate moving estimates. One was double the price of Comfortable Moving (CM). The other company was almost the same price as Comfortable Moving but when I compared these two companies it was easy to choose Comfortable Moving. Sam came out right away to give me an estimate. Sam explained the company's services. CM took less time than estimated, which lowered my price. If they took a break that was deducted from their time. Everything was moved without a scratch. Hands down one of the best stress-free moving experiences I've ever had. They were great from initial communication to the delivery. These guys are great! They showed up on time and went to work. The entire house was on the truck before I knew it. They wrapped each piece of furniture, disassembled the bed, wrapped and boxed a huge tv quickly and efficiently. It was very obvious they knew what they were doing. Sam actually answered the phone & was able to schedule me when I called unlike several larger well-known companies, one of which never even called back. I had an unusual job, moving a very heavy kiln quite a distance which they ended up having to carry. They uncrated it & got it into place, plus made a neat pile of the packing material & pallet.
